Also. The "It toughed it out so you won't feel sad" mechanic may be controversial, but it was shown in the show. Its why Ash won the world series. Pikachu nearly fainted, but toughed it out
A fun fact to note for these games and any future challenges like this. Formerly single use items like focus sash are no longer consumed after battles. Focus sash stun spores or endeavors seem like they could come in handy in a lot of moments in this challenge. Great video either way! Always love seeing stuff like this.
Finally, a poke player who takes his time to give a detailed, normal-speed commentary instead of rushing through the run like an electivire in a thunderstorm. Plus we get a neat little poem for the "rap battle"? You sir have just got a new subscriber. All the best ✌
Scatterbug actually is really good early in the game with access to status moves. Of course, it also gets to evolve quickly when you're not doing a challenge run, but I think even if it were stuck as a Scatterbug it would've done work in the second Gym. And that Montenevera Gym was incredible.
@Kali Not trying to be contrarian, but I actually think in-game trainers having access to friend boosts would add a little more flavor to the story! It lets you know which trainers hold a special bond with their pokemon and which are just business

Holy heck; an unexpected Christmas present in the form of your return to uploads! Wonderful to see your fun content is back! 0:37 - Yeah, they really buffed up the stats of all the Paldean region Pokémon in this gen. No Johto or Alolan awkwardness here. A shame that, as someone whose favourite type is Bug, it is the Bug types on the lower end of the stat line up even for the Paldea region Pokémon. 3:51 - Azuril's stats are that low!? Quite a shock. I ended up using one throughout all of Pokémon Emerald (assisted by other, stronger team members though) and I never knew it's stats were that low. I suppose it is a Baby Pokémon and Thick Fat or Hug Power makes a considerable difference to it's low stats in either offence or defensive measures. Nice type variety at the start already. 6:39 - I remember witnessing a Sunkern only run before, an despite it's low stats, the strong movepool it has makes it a fairly interesting Pokémon to use compared to other low stat Pokémon like beginning Bug types and such. I still watch the second channel videos, but it is nice to see this one make a surprise appearance. Welcome back, FJ!
I actually love the friendship mechanics in Scarlet and Violet. When the “your pokemon toughs it out cause it doesn’t want you to feel sad” kicks in, that mechanic actually makes me feel more attached to my team, and makes me feel like they’re actual living things with all the emotions a loyal pet would have and not just some lifeless, digital creatures. Also, that game mechanic saved me a few times. Pokemon Scarlet is my first Pokemon game since Gen 4. Yup, I haven’t kept up with Pokemon and its anime for that long. Scarlet was my reintroduction so my poke knowledge and type matchups were not great 😂😂😂. This game made me fall in love with Pokemon again.

I'm downright embarrassed that Iron Hands gave me such problems when your little dudes took it out in one hit...
Next time, sell all your revives and go buy some revival herbs! They do the same as a MAX revive and you can actually buy them at chansey supply. Yes it lowers the friendship but not by too much. And you can feed some berries to offset that
Im glad you know all this.
Any trainer losing to this must feel so bad about themselves lmao. Imagine losing to these mons
It seems that in this case, the real power was actually the friends we made along the way.
Never thought I'd see the day where a Sunkern gained ultimate power.

As someone who lost to almost everyone in Paldea, congrats Leaf. You madlad.
I saw snom on the thumbnail and immediately my mind went “…But snom is really OP on my team…”
I thought that was impossible. I'm impressed by your strategizing and patience.
Iron Treads is so cute when it's sleeping. It's like "I am asleep. Do not bother me."
I love the friendship mechanic and hate it at the same time. It makes you feel closer to your Pokémon and at the same time makes an easy Pokémon game…even more brain dead.
