I don't think there is anything wrong with allowing the friendship mechanic to work. It really just proves how much your pokemon loves you and you don't seem to have done anything about the dodges that were caused by it. Great video!
The double shiny fail for Forretress was definitely painful, but the sacrificial explosion during the Sada fight after you finally got it somehow was both hilarious and painful at the same time 😂. Definitely needed a good laugh today so thank you for that. 😂 Very entertaining video all around will definitely be watching this video more than once! 😁
To me the affection mechanics are a neat flavour bonus for the nuzlocke. You punished yourself for surviving a Brave Bird, but you never said anything about dodging an attack due to the same mechanic. Since you cannot stop the affection building up, unless doing very boring and convoluted stuff, to me you should take advantage of this. You shouldn't rely on it, but at the same times it isn't wrong or cheap if it triggers. Keep up the excellent quality, you are a great content creator!
You genuinely have to be some of the funniest and most enjoyable content on RUclips. The pokemon nuzzlockes/shiny runs are so fun, and your jokes throughout, fast paced editing and general smile and lovely personality keep it an utter joy to watch!
A few people have had similar comments, but the friendship mechanic solidifies the nuzlocke for me as it demonstrates the bond that you build with the Pokémon on your team. If you are going to punish them for toughing it out and not fainting then by rights you need to do the same when they land a crit wanting to be praised or dodge an attack by your shout.

Bug types are my favorite types, volcarona and its paradox forms and pre-evo being my favorite pokemon in the series. So when I see content like this featuring bug types, its very enjoyable cause it proves that the bug type has potential, especially after gen 5 when the bug type got a bit of a buff and had a lot of good additions, and since then there've been a lot of good bug type additions. however they still have their weaknesses which is why its important to use strategy and planning when using bug types I adore this video it was a good watch
I respect your decision, but I think the friendship mechanic is ok. idk, you see examples of it in the anime all the time lol so it's consistent within the series that bonds between trainer and pokemon can make it out of tough situations. I don't mind your perspective tho, it made the run that much more interesting to watch to the end of!

Bugs are great When I was dealing with johto my Butterfree helped me a lot as a sweeper with sleep powder (compound eyes almost 100% ACC )and quiver dance
Whilst I personally adore the friendship bonuses, especially in nuzlockes, I believe you can counter them by healing your pokemon with herbal medicine, (as it's bitter and they don't like it apparently?) as it will lower your friendship points with a pokemon and the bonuses trigger less often. Not optimal for friendship evos, but I think it should work with the other mons

You should do a gentlemanlocke where you use Pokémon that give off a gentleman vibe be it that it looks/feels like one (this one is personal preference) or it has features that make it socially a gentleman (an example would be kricketune’s mustache)
