This is fascinating Stan. I've always been told that fresh salmon is bad for my dogs, but didn't know why, thanks for the explanation. I like the island method. After raising black Russian terriers I would love to have put me on and island :)
Doubt that the old Discovery one will ever be back but new stuff is quite possible and of course our documentary is in the works for sure but will take some more time.
You the man, Stan!! Discovered Yukon Men 2 months ago and sad to know it canceled. But what you are doing now is amazing and awesome!!! Keep doing what you're doing! Nate from New Mexico
The Yukon is such a big river it never goes up without some warning. It can get pretty small and still fine and safe for dogs. In the picture there is a lot of the island above water really.
Thank you so much for telling us about the puppies eating the fish. Because I was always told don't feed fish to dogs. Because it will kill them. But now I have an "somewhat" new understanding.
Some dogs such as Greenland Huskies I'm told can eat fresh fish but they still don't digest them well till they throw it up and eat it a couple of times. But it will not kill them if done day after day like these sled dogs here. Dried, cooked and soured fish is fine for all dogs I believe. It certainly is for mine.
That is what they are doing but all the fighting gets interrupted when they get chained up in fall time and then they get taught by the leader of the pack (me) not to fight.
@Kevin R apparently you don't watch the news ? Michigan didn't Lockdown quickly and now there is a SHITLOAD of dead and sick, maybe you should educate yourself before you speak ?
hello, I hope you are all well, we here in Italy are struggling to get out of this covid disaster 19. Do you have cases in your countries? a big hug, I respect you for the person you are.
Hey Stan!! I emailed Discovery Channel and told them they need to start filming you guys again, especially with this quarantine I’m running out of things to watch.
Beautiful pups. Although that one pup was being chased away from food. I didn’t see it get to eat any of the fish. The other pups kept chasing it off the fish. Hmm.....poor pup
Once they get tied up they get fed according to their weight and needs so it'll be okay. Also from that point on they are not allowed to fight with each other
Have you seen any cryptids up there , Stan? I heard somewhere there was one who would leave some freshly killed game for the townsfolk when times were lean for the people....any truth to that?
There are a number of people around here who swear there are woodsmen and bigfoot types around here. Some also don't believe they should talk much about them or they will get hurt etc. I have never been graced with their presence yet however.
Hi Stan, Is there much sickness in the dogs where you live, compared to the dogs that grow up near to the bigger city's and how do you think diet helps or are your dogs and those that are in Tanana a better breed. Thank you.
The dogs are incredibly healthy and hardly ever get sick. They never get overweight so all the problems city dogs get from that are nonexistent. Diet is much of that. No junk food full of filler and questionable ingredients. And they are what is known as field tried. Unlike pet dogs ones that get sick or have conditions almost never breed. Bad genes do not get passed on.
The big rock my daughter and me are sitting on in the picture has a sheet of plywood leaning up against it to keep heavy rains off them. Most of the time they could care less about rain but in late fall they start to use it as it's colder then.
Happy Easter Stan, I've been wondering about the feeding of the whole raw fish. I've breed a lot of dogs (Goldens) and cats (Bengals) and was always told to never feed any bones whole, so I invested a very powerful grinder (strong enough to pulverize a turkey leg) since I preferred to feed a raw diet. Your dogs don't have issues with the bones getting stuck going down or coming out? BTW, how did Joey's pup turn out, he was one beautiful dog
I know that there are certain laws with game meat but did you ever think about finding a way to make money by donations of sending some of your prepared (smoked and cut) salmon for some extra income and so when people watch one of your videos they know what your fish taste like.
The meat cannot be sold at all but the fish can be sold locally to others in the villages. It's all a grey area though and many people want to make even the fish sales clearly illegal and prosecute us for it.
@@stanzuray that sucks you make your fish so good looking I live in Pa and the way Alaskans take care of your fish is remarkable. You can see the pride you take in all you do...hats off to you
Also I know certain things are hard to get or costly in Alaska can I send something to you like spices or seeds a lot of stuff here we take for granted heck stuff that you could use to repair stuff I could find at yard sales for you let me know
Thanks for the offer. We are fine. Actually many here shop online and get free shipping so prices for some things are not too bad. Gas and stuff like that is very high however
Smart thinking! I hate that Yukon Man is no longer but i love that you’ve continued with your channel. Keep the content coming!! 🙌🏼🤙🏼

Hey Stan ! just sitting here in Michigan under our Dictator Governor BITCHmer's Lockdown watch Yukon Men: Roughing It. Episode: "Food Fight" from 2017
@Kevin R apparently you don't watch the news ? Michigan didn't Lockdown quickly and now there is a SHITLOAD of dead and sick, maybe you should educate yourself before you speak ?
hello, I hope you are all well, we here in Italy are struggling to get out of this covid disaster 19. Do you have cases in your countries? a big hug, I respect you for the person you are.
The US has a lot of cases but Alaska has few and our isolated village of 200 people has none so far.
I'm glad for you, thank you 👋🏼
Stan, have you ever experienced heartworm with any of your dogs and if so how did you treat if so how did you treat it, thanks
Never did but it is up here in Alaska
Long time no see
I know I feel bad I can't get myself to do more on computer.
Hey Stan!! I emailed Discovery Channel and told them they need to start filming you guys again, especially with this quarantine I’m running out of things to watch.
Hello from Russia Stan, my friend was recently in Tanan, have you heard anything about this?
I met him and talked to him some. He was looking for a ride to the next village downriver when I saw him.
Beautiful pups. Although that one pup was being chased away from food. I didn’t see it get to eat any of the fish. The other pups kept chasing it off the fish. Hmm.....poor pup

@@stanzuray Hi Stan, Thank you for the information, very much appreciated. Keep the Great Video's coming and stay safe!!
🤝👍✌️
You have to be the next person to replace David Attenborough in the BBC's Nature Program. Loves from Scandinavian :)
I know this is going to be a dumb question do you have a dog house or something on the island 2 for the puppies and the mom have a good one
The big rock my daughter and me are sitting on in the picture has a sheet of plywood leaning up against it to keep heavy rains off them. Most of the time they could care less about rain but in late fall they start to use it as it's colder then.
@@stanzuray I understand what you're saying it's basically like a Wind Block be safe waiting on the next video when you can have a good one

Joe still has Ace plus 7 more. Has a small dog team now.
Never had a bone problem but hear chicken bones can get caught once in a while in dogs. Never feed them though.
How great is that !!!
Hi Stan doe's the road are?
The road is closed to traffic per towns request due to virus.
