    Is that a Berkeley lightning rod? I love those rods but after breaking 3 of them I switched to the ugly stick carbon series and it’s much more durable.

      Yes it probably is, I recall having one a few years ago before I really knew much about rods and what to use for trout! Much more dialed in now with my shimanos!

    As someone new to fishing for Brook Trout, I was hoping to hear something - anything - pertaining to lure choices and methods.

      We have lots of videos covering exactly that! This video was more of a fish handling video along with some gear choices 😁 Check out our Top 10 Brook Trout Lures video if you’re curious

    Nicely done boys, looks like you h
    Guys had a blast.
    I’m planning an ice out trip. Any tips to selecting lakes that will produce like this one? I don’t mind slogging some big portages to get into the deep bush.

      We have a fairly detailed video discussing how to find Algonquin Brookies from a couple years back, if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a good place to start! We did a rundown of pretty much everything we do to pick spots! Lots of research is key, and studying maps! The deeper you go, they more plentiful they get generally speaking!

    With cudos on the releases can i recommend single hooks . As far as rods been using 5 ft zebco telescopics for 30 yrs and troll most of the time too.use about 7 lb mono . Never had a season in the many hundreds though .

    The Expert didn’t tell us the name of the lake or what lure he was using?

    • @TheAverageJoesFishingShow
      @TheAverageJoesFishingShow  Год назад

      He was catching them on a 3/8oz Perch Pattern Weaver Grabber. As for the lake, that’s not public information. We don’t share lake names inside or outside of the park. But especially inside. Native Brook Trout populations can easily be ruined from a spot being blown up on the internet, so we respect the fishery by keeping it quiet.

      Algonquin is a magical place, never to old to go!! Just may take more time to get to certain areas, or study your route and pick an area with more paddling vs portaging!
