    Algonquin requires way more physical labour to get into these sized brook trout but they still thrive.

    I live in Sudbury and I have caught my fair share of specs. They are not the easiest fish to find, but they are one of the most fun to catch. As a kid, I use to catch my limit of specs each time I went out. There is no place in the world as beautiful as North Eastern Ontario.

    Does handling the fish with bare hands not remove the slime and kill the fish.....because I'm pretty sure it will

    • @MIFish96
      @MIFish96 Год назад +1

      Yeah it does. Also lipping a brook trout like he did has a high chance of breaking its jaw

      Don't worry the,'er a very strong fish not delicate at all .removing slime just a wise tail

      See I love river brookies and lake brookies, but my special passion is tiny creek brookies, I love exploring a tiny creek pulling brookies from thier holes.

    • @Fishncanada
      @Fishncanada  3 года назад

      @@frogsnacks Agreed, that's the way we started Brookie fishing as well... walking the creek bank and firing in a worm. It gets no better!!!

    I've been lucky enough to spec fish my whole life. They are a very finicky fish. Some days you will not catch a fish no matter what. The next day you can see brookies jumping for a discarded cigarette. Just be quite and look for white foam In moving water

    @The Fish'n Canada Show can you tell me a good place to camp with a tent with power and water to fish trout in Ontario.

    • @MichealBacon

      Algonquin Park

    • @petebowman3997
      @petebowman3997 3 года назад +2

      Yes Algonquin is about as perfect as it gets for Brook Trout and camping together. If you like creek fishing for Brookies then places like Bon Echo P Park are great. Look for creeks on day-trips and hopefully you'll get into some Specks.

    What a great episode this morning. Some of those spec's were among the most beautiful I've ever seen. I used to catch Splake up in Meaford back in the day, but they hardly compare.

    • @Fishncanada

      @@mattschultz4994 I grew up in Meaford, and learned to fish on the banks of the Bighead. So sad to hear that it's been so badly diminished. Used to be great smallmouth in the summer, between steelhead runs in spring & fall. It was heaven for a kid.

    Im actually supposed to do guiding this season at a lodge just north of lake Nippigon with a good population of brookies. From the looks of it they behave similar(ish) to grayling? Slightly larger lures ofcourse. Although they don't look as pretty as grayling in my opinion hahaha. Idk we'll have to see.
