    Nice Job! Like you say always make sure you know where the screws came out from and return them back to the same place! Take pics if you have too!

    It's amazing the screw got into such a tight space. But it happens.

      They always find the worst possible place to go. Or, they're so tiny, they fall to the ground and get lost in the carpet, and you have to sweep the entire area with a magnet to try and locate them. iPhones have micro screws inside them.

      They always go into some place that jams mechanisms or will short something out (chassis with exposed mains power parts are a worry). Some 30 years ago I lost a screw in the middle of a huge U-matic VCR but couldn't find where it landed. I wasn't game to turn it on until I extracted it. I ended up turning it upside down and shaking it to get it out. That was a major pain.

      @@Dan-ck4bg I've heard of people vaccuuming the workspace with a pantyhose over the end of the vacuum cleaner nozzle to find things like that. Nearly tried it myself but eventually found the dropped bit

    I have been watching your videos as I am a DAT fan. I have a DA30 (not MK2) and a DA30 MK2.
    The DA30 works flawless now after following your other video.
    My problem now is my DA30 MK2 that is giving an "ERROR 03".
    The tape does not spin at all. I tried another tape that works perfectly fine in my other DA30 (not MK2) but still have the same issue.
    I hope you have a video of an "ERROR 03" issue with MK2 for me to follow.
    If you want to use my unit for demo I will be more than happy to send you and pay for shipping and all taxes etc... and will pay for your service of course. Please let me know so I can ship it to you. If not its ok too. Will just be waiting for it hopefully soon. Thanks a lot. :)

    One more question for you 12voltvids I was thinking of getting myself a DAT recorder.. Is buying one worth getting even though they have stopped making this format anymore?

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  Год назад

      The format has been out of production since 2005 so keep that in mind parts are getting hard to find although there's lots of decks out there. I've never paid more than $20 for that machine and I've got several except for the first one I bought back in the early 90s. There's lots of them out there because they were used very extensively in the recording industry and broadcast industry so there are tons of them out there and there's a lot of them that don't have a lot of miles on them so they're going to be good for a while. No trouble finding media because the format was used as a computer backup format so there's lots of tapes out there. eBay sellers tend to ask a lot more than they're worth, I repeat I've never paid more than 20 or $40 for a unit now they've required service but most of them are just required things like belts maybe the regulator has failed. Many of the units that I've got were given to me my musicians and others that stopped using them. I recently gave one away the fellow I gave it to hasn't used it yet though because he hasn't been able to find any reasonable tapes because people that are selling blank tapes are selling them for more than they sold for a new.

      @@12voltvids WOW... with reading what you said... i may not buy a DAT recorder then. I got burned on the DCC format. It was great when it was out and support but buy the time i was able to afford one the quit making them back in 1996. And i don't know much about repair anything like that except for changing the belts on them. So with that being said i think i won't buy one after reading what you said. And you right the prices for DAT tapes are way to high. And the prices for regular tapes are going up too.. Also, any idea what could be wrong with my Tascam? just asking. Who taught you how to repair audio stuff? just asking, I have always wanted to do that to but don't know how to get into it without burning someones unit up lol

      @@Warren1814 dcc was a dead format before it even launched. Dat was the industry standard. There are millions of them out there and dat enthusiasts use them all the time. eBay sellers drive the price up unfortunately.

      @@12voltvids Yeah they sure did (ebay sellers). DAT was every where back then. Tapes galore back then... I mean, without the high prices etc.. Maybe one day those ebay sellers and other stores will lower the prices of DAT tapes . I know, wishful thinking... I didn't want a DAT recorder until i saw your video. Once you fixed that one in your video and played it. It even made my pc speakers sound good. Well anyway it was nice talking to you 12voltvids. Keep rockin those videos... and so you know i subscribed to your channel. I like watching things get fixed and watching the people who knows how to fix things correctly .

Was a customer at the shop and when i left he started bringing his stuff to me. Real tight though. I double the price on everything so after negotiations I can make some money.
