  • Downtown San Diego has witnessed its fair share of change. Right along it is the historic Horton Grand Hotel. Originally two hotels, they saw their golden age in the late 1800s. By the 1970s, their futures were uncertain as urban renewal swept the city. It was up to a local developer to fight to preserve the hotels, dismantling them and moving them across town for a second lease on life.
    On this new series, we're taking you to architecturally-interesting destinations, giving some history and some interesting details that you will want to see for yourself on your next architecture travels.

    I always loved walking past this beautiful building and had no idea it had been two buildings that had been moved!
