I have had two Victorinox quartz watches - the Maverick with a rotating bezel and date complication, and the Fieldforce with the day/date complication, for nearly twenty years. Each of these is on its third or fourth battery, and they are still keeping perfect time and show little wear in spite of daily use that includes shop work and watersports. The Maverick is on its third Victorinox rubber strap, while the Fieldforce is on its original bracelet, which has a forged and polished clasp that is better than than found on many mechanical watches in the sub $1000.00 range. Prices of both of these have gone up since I bought them, approaching that of mechanical watches of decent quality, but they do offer reliable timekeeping, a very slim profile, and handsome, solid construction of the cases, faces and bracelets. Finally I would add that the Maverick, with its rotating bezel, date complication, and 12 and 24 hour indices, actually offers all the information I need for daily time keeping and event timing, short of a GMT function. These watches go to places that would put my mechanical watches in harms way!
Thank you for covering a quartz watch and yes while this is an "expensive" quartz watch the fact that it is swiss made, with a swiss movement, and rugged as hell are definite selling points. For those of us who don't work in an office but spend our time out in the field in rain or shine often a quartz watch just makes more sense and while a Gshock are most people's go to having other brands and styles like this field watch showcased is a good thing. Don't be so unenthusiastic Teddy 😉 a lot more people can afford a $350 watch then a watch costing 4 to 5 digits. Edited for spelling.
I still have my Swiss army watch that I bought in the early 90’s. Runs great! White dial w/red numbers and all stainless case with bracelet. Upon changing the battery I noticed mine has a Swiss made ISA 1198 movement
I own six Victorinox watches including one mechanical, and five quartz pieces. All of the quartz offerings run within seconds per month of each other, with an average of less than ten seconds (fast) per month. The mechanical piece runs less than ten seconds fast per day. Apart from my first Victorinox (now fifteen years old) I bought them heavily discounted, and find them all to be extremely robust, accurate, and stylish. My only regret with the brand is not buying a couple others that surfaced shortly before they revamped their styling about eight or ten years ago. I’m at peace with the brands “under the radar” status, and though one retailed at close to $1000, my total collection ran me less than $2000 - pretty good value.
My old Wenger Terragraph is a fantastic field watch. It's quartz and Swiss made. Being a quartz movement makes it far more capable than my Hamilton khaki mechanical when I'm working and training at the range or in the field. Better yet, the G-Shock Pathfinder is even more capable.
Love the 'ladies' Maverick at 34mm. Also my wife had a Summit XLT. Just found it after 10+ years. Replaced the battery and it's rubbing like a champ. Gave it to my 13 year old son. High quality quartz watches that take a beating for sure!
A Victorinox quartz “officers” watch was my first Swiss watch after my Swatches, so I have a fondness for the brand. That first one cost $350 in today’s dollars, so the price here isn’t crazy. My next one was as well, and that watch is now 20+ years old with no issues (also quartz). I can see some wanting a shorter lug-to-lug, but it would be fine for me. If Victorinox wanted to target more of the enthusiast market, I think an automatic 38mm with the same design would hit that mark. The 24 hour track is a bit small for my now aging eyes, but I can’t really fault the design overall. I love the red seconds hand, especially under macro.
There are only handful of watch reviewers on RUclips that are professional and trustworthy Ted ranks very high on this list. I could also comment and say Ted actually can afford the watches in his collection very few reviewers can make that statement. There is a phrase among wealthy people that states: He/She has a BIG hat and no CATTLE.
O was hooked on Victorinox years ago and have one of their field watches with a synthetic strap. I've come to see them as overpriced recently but these models seem to be in my budget range. Good info on these!
Thanks for this review Teddy. My everyday wear quartz Victorinox was the watch that inspired my girlfriend to start buying me nicer automatic watches 😂 I still have that watch though and just put a new battery in it to keep it alive.
21mm lug width? On a 40mm field watch case? Really Victorniox? Are you trying to be weird? Field style watches are usually "strap monsters," but with 21mm lugs, it does limit the options. Outside of the odd lug width, this would make a fantastic grab-and-go, durable, Swiss field/beater watch that will probably last decades. I don't even mind the price and positioning, but rolling my eyes at the lug width.
I got a stupid question... I just received this watch and I turned the crown in the wrong way when setting the date, which made a little "tic" and nothing else happened. I'm worried about it and I wonder if that could've hurt the mechanism? Great video by the way!
Love that you’re covering so many affordable models Teddy. But if I may request - can you please cover more offerings between 4-10k? Especially ones that don’t get enough coverage, like offerings from Blancpain + Jaquet Droz? So underrated. I’d particularly love to see/hear a review of the Jaquet Droz 39mm moonphase in steel, so classy and gorgeous yet under 10k!
Quartz watches are great for the everyday, knock around, or grab-and-go watch. I love my Casio Duro! Also, I've always thought Victorinox field watches looked good.
Teddy, have you been working out sir? Your arms are looking jacked! :). 💪🏻💪🏻 Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. Love the videos, watches, and history.
This watch is in a tough middle ground. If you want a cheap field watch then the Timex Expedition and Seiko SNK are cheaper. But if you want a field watch specifically with Swiss movement then you’d probably just pay a little extra and get a Hamilton.
Hi Teddy, I'm wondering if you could recommend / do a video on skeleton watches in the sub $10,000 price range? I've been having quite a hard time finding something.
@@mthd9 I found it on Zalando 2 weeks ago. I bought it and except strap all is good. Need to replace for nato strap but it is 21mm wide and hard to find. I paid 92$ 👍
I have over 17 Victorinox watches now and I love them all. Very under-loved on RUclips. Thanks for showing them!
I just got the alliance with black dial and strap it looks amazing I'm hooked into victorinox. It looks like john wicks watch
I like Teddy's reviews. He is always professional, meticulous and objective. I also like that he is focusing on his core now, including Victorinox.

I want a quartz watch for worry-free durability from the vibrations when riding motorcycles. This one looks good.

Second hand mostly hits the marks unlike more expensive quartz Tissot :)
Nice watch for the price.

I've had my Victorinox chronograph for 11 years and it is much more accurate than my eco-drive or gshock. Not all quartz is created equal.

Wish they still made the field watches with the red bezel and white dial. That was a classic.
It looks cold and snowy in the middle of August at Cleveland.
Hope you have a great summer vacatiol 😉
This can be an alternative to the Hamilton Khaki field, it has the vibe in it.

Citizen eco-drive seems to be a better option. There are many models with Titanium+Sapphire around this price.
Good thing it says "date" above the date window- never would have been able to figure that one out.

Would you please review a hybrid Frédérique constant? Thanks for the great content
I have a smaller wrist at 6 3/4 inches. Would this watch fit fine on me? Thanks for any feedback
My fave Vic design but its quartz.... I just prefer the convenience of a mechanical. Could of been a great EDC/tool watch.

Looks great Victorinox make some good watches I've owned a few different ones.
Hey Teddy, would you ever consider looking at hybrid watches? Kronaby, for example, is a brand that I have loved to own for a few years now.
Hi Teddy,
I'm wondering if you could recommend / do a video on skeleton watches in the sub $10,000 price range? I've been having quite a hard time finding something.
Are you gonna review the seiko speedtimer ssc813? Its pretty popular and its almost a year since release
Are these models released recently? I can't seem to find them listed at any of my local retailers
What do you think about the new Airboss collection? Is $900 overpriced for the overall specs?
@Teddy Baldassarre Reviews Little surprises you never review the grand seiko GNT quartz
I would like to see the crown and guards at the 4 o'clock position. That's just me.
Do Mühle Glashütte 29er
Hello Teddy
is it good watch for 100$?
yes insanely good for that price, where did you find it for 100$ ?
@@mthd9 I found it on Zalando 2 weeks ago. I bought it and except strap all is good. Need to replace for nato strap but it is 21mm wide and hard to find. I paid 92$ 👍
HOW MUCH IS THIS WATCH!!!
Besser als Tissot
a major big no no interuping the 24 hr inner time circle with the name/ logo is very bad also who puts the name date next to the date window??
I thought Switzerland had no Army
Ridiculous. I bought my Swiss Field Watches in the 1990s for less than a hundred dollars. What a scam.
49.5mm lug to lug 🤡
