- Real Engineer plays not-very-well-known Run8 Train Simulator. So unknown that RUclips thought this was Railworks. Like and subscribe if you enjoyed, I promise my editing humor is getting better.
I'm still figuring out the quality issues and of course, always improving my monotone voice, so don't let anything discourage you. WIP is my entire channel so far.

Update for everyone: I have not forgotten about the channel. I recently bought a new mic that will allow everyone to understand me and enjoy quality sound. Life gets in the way, I just had a baby girl and of course, the railroad is an unpredictable schedule. I have ideas and games I want to try, and will get to recording and uploading as soon as I can. Most notably, it's multiplayer! We've had 20 people doing everything from running locals, cross route traffic, hump yards, and dispatching on an operating session. There's several ways to play the game.
Barstow yard is much bigger than that! Used to work a UP local that would interchange cars in there. Great game review.
Just a tip you can press F5 and that will release all the handbrakes on your train, or shift F5 to apply all the handbrakes.
P.S. as a side note was a freight driver for 30+ years and this sim is about as good as it gets for getting the operation of the Locomotive and wagons right, with in the limitations of a computer program.

Also it supports Raildriver out of the box:) And it is the one reason I can't enjoy US trains in Train Simulator and TSW 2. At least the default ones, because there they feel very unrealistic compared to trains here in Run 8

As you very well pointed out, the game is not on Steam. And I think it could be very beneficial for the game and the community to have it up there. I just randomly learned about the game. If it weren't for a random stranger on Internet, I'd never known about this cool game

Retired RR guy here. Looks realistic to me, too, especially team play. Check out one of those recorded live streams of teams in action. It's just like working a real sub.
At CSX they made kicking cars a rule violation before I left. When I started we had to learn to kick and even drop. Ever do that? Takes at least three people to do.
I don't think those UTLX tanks are blue. I think it's realistic shiny black, reflecting the blue of the sky.

Yeah dude I'm wanting to do more. Job is of course in the way of that, extra board is tough, along with life. Im wanting to resurrect the channel though, so stay tuned!

5:30 The railcars actually are all individually numbered but given the limitations of the sim its not possible to render full number on the geometry of the car. You can pull up the car number by clicking L-Ctrl F8

It's the best Railroad Simulator on the market. I have all the downloads. Apparently Version 3 is coming as well. Cheers ~ Boomer.

i just installed run 8 train simulator and i havnt been able to find anyone that can help me out with my game when i load into a server there is alot of blue texture like the trains, light poles, buildings, cars. is there any way someone can help me with this problem? pls and thx
Is it a multipliplayer server? If so, it could be they have all the DLCs and add-ons that you don't, so instead of not allowing you to join, it just has a no texture glitch
Why do these engines have 2 of the same screen on the engineer's side?
They can have different screen options for information on the train. If you want to view 2 different things then that's how you do it. They also are for something called Positive Train Control which requires its own screen, they have yet to model it in this game.
@@wargamz9051 I see. Makes sense, like when we have 2 or 3 monitors on our office computers. I've heard of ptc but I haven't read about it in a long time

Its just diesel for now. We are waiting for Run8 V3 to be released, its supposedly bringing a whole lot more than what is offered now.
We'll get around to doing steam engines some day. (I'm the programmer). We're very small, and Run8's our little labor of love. Cool video by the way.
