Ahhhhhh, another lovely adventure with the David Attenborough of mudlarking. Very nice :)
Aw, thanks Kathryn. I hope you're keeping well 🙂
I am doing well, and my 1-12 scale manor house is nearly complete, and I will have it dressed for the holiday and share it> Have a lovely day Tom :)@@tomburleigh9261
Or the John Muir!
@@janjaxon5365 We will rename Tom "Tom of the Mud: :)
Tom,
Your Back!
It's so good to see my favorite philosopher, poet and musician out and about pre
snows of winter.
I am in the winter of my life, but you put Spring in my step:)
Take care of yourself, perhaps we'll see you visiting forgotten places nestled in snowdrifts before
spring banishes them.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
A lovely and poetic comment, thank you Rik. 🙂
@@tomburleigh9261 That's how I feel Tom😊
My busy day just ground to a halt…a new Tom Burleigh video. I’m sitting down.
Aw, I hope you enjoy it 🙂
Mine too! Thanks Tom!
Hello Tom. What a great way to spend a very cold evening, sat in a warm living room together watching your latest video on the TV. It was great to wander with you on screen, as the terrain would be too much for us to explore these days. Don't worry about the senior moments, we have plenty of those, but we always blame the stupid camera when the settings randomly change 🙃🐼🤠
Thanks Phil, Caroline, and Manky, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again soonish, the brickworks is fairly flat and accessible. 🙂
😂Technology is great when it works, not so much when it decides to do it's own thing.🤣
Does the Johnsons still mudlark
@@tomburleigh9261 Hi Tom, RUclips brought your video up in my feed and it’s been quite too long - I saw this video and thoroughly enjoyed it!!
I am in awe that you know the proper names for all things you find, which I (an American) would simply describe as “a thingy”. It’s quite embarrassing , actually! Your voice is an absolute treasure!! I laughed when you said you had a senior moment because I imagine you to be in your 30s! 😊
Loved the video Tom 👌😊 would love to see you and The Johnsons do another mudlark/catch up. Also love watching your collaborations. Thank you for sharing your video ❤😊
Love. That theme, never lose it. Good to see anything from you, Tom
Hello Mr. Tom Burleigh, thank you for yet another soothing video. I don't care if you find anything or nothing, it's always a nice relaxing strool. Thank you for taking me along. Greetings from the U.S.A.
Plastic in the environment is one of my biggest dislikes... screw top bottles aren't very likeable either, but it's good to see a new Tom Burleigh video. That glass dish thing with the starburst pattern is lovely! I'd happily join you on a litter pick one day when I'm more financially stable, but sadly burning a lot of it is the only way to deal with it 😑 Even the rivers themselves are just full of contaminants. Anyway, enough of that 😂 Hope you are well Tom and I look forward to more videos.
Plastic is indeed one of the biggest blights on the environment, I think a litter pick with you could be quite fun. 🙂. I hope you're doing well too, and that you (and I too), manage to get a bit more financially stable.
@@tomburleigh9261 I might have the opportunity to help a gardener at some point which would be some income as growing plants is a major passion of mine... I'm also considering horticultural apprenticeships 🤔
@@richardserridge2767 Sounds great, I hope you enjoy it if it's the path you head down. 🙂
Glad you're back Tom! Older or just yesterday, your videos are always a joy to watch!
And it sounds as if we got a couple of yet unheard tunes of yours? Or maybe the instrumentation was different.
Yes, do go back there, but bring your waders!👍🏻🤗
Tom, I am so glad to see a video from you. I watched it three times to get my fill, and will play it on the nightstand as I lay down to sleep tonight. Glad that you are well.
Lovely to see you back, Tom. You have been missed. x
Good to “see” you Tom! I’ve missed you and that soothing voice of yours!❤
I’d forgotten just how lovely and soothing your voice is..
You and your Star Wars bag go where I will never go, and have found what I will never find. Love the brown jars they would be great candle holders.
I think that's going to be their fate, just have to find some nicer wax to use than the soya based stuff I tried (and can't abide the smell of). 🙂
Hello Tom great to see a new video. So what would your top bucket list find be, something that would blow your mind?😁👍 Still never seen you get really excited.
Hi Charles, I think a Roman pot might do it for me, but can't guarantee to ever have my mind well and truly blown by a find. I found a George the 3rd era silver tankard in a charity shop today, and smiled a bit🙂. Actually, I found some copper in a skip too, and smiled about the same amount for that. 😀
A delight to come home and see a video from you Tom. I throughly enjoyed coming along with you, I love the little milk bottle. I hope you are keeping well 🙂
Great to have you back doing what you do best Tom a lovely walk and some nice blue glass and amber always lovely to see the sun come through it when you hold it up, those golfer's leaving there golf balls to hatch they are sometimes very prevalent 😂, you've made my evening love watching your videos looking forward to the next one
So happy to hear your dulcet tones and be taken on a lark with you ! Loved that green bottle . Hope all is well with you 🙏
It was nice to vicariously enjoy the lovely weather you had on that day’s lark. Thanks for the posting.
Jak miło! zawsze oglądam i słucham z przyjemnością. Dziękuje.
That was quite an excursion. Very interesting.
A much bigger site than I'm used to, I'm glad you found it interesting. 🙂
Yay, time to celebrate! We have a video from Tom!
I just love it when you say "I like it, I think I'll take it!" Maybe an opportunity for a merch slogan?
Have a wonderful, well deserved, Holiday season!
Welcoming a new Tom video. I hope all is well with you and yours.
Thanks Tammie, things are reasonably well here. I hope all's well with you and yours too. 🙂
You have one of the most soothing voices I have ever heard😊
I love these peeks into the mudlarking world. It’s interesting to watch what you pick up, and think about what these things may once have been
Its so nice to see you out and about Tom.
In my opinion that dumpsite is definitely worth the odd walkover, because those two green bottle finds were unexpected, and you never know.
Best wishes from a cold South Wales.👍
Yess!!! a new video from Tom
Great to see you back! We missed you! A wonderful walk in the woods ! That American Indian is Apache and is from the "The Indians Are Coming" series from 1964 I believe. Great finds!
Oh dear!! Your time laps episodes.. WOOPS But still interesting I love your voice, it sends me to sleep.
*Kia ora Tom.... lots of great finds.... I just love the scenery outside your window... 🙂nz*
Hi Tom. Haven’t seen you in a while. Was hospitalized with ALS, and now in a nursing home. Always great you and your videos again. A great site today as always. See you on the next. Cheers Tom. ❤😊
Hi Martin, so sorry to hear of your ill health. I hope the staff at the nursing home are good ones, and that you're getting good care and visits from friends and family. Sorry I didn't reply to your last comment, I took time to make a thoughtful reply and thought too long, losing track somewhere along the way.
Fingers crossed the next video won't be too long 🙂
@@tomburleigh9261 Thats fine, Tom.glad to see your video today. Cheers Tom!
Another fine outing with the one and only Tom.
What fascinates me about this one,and bear with me,I mean not to insult:
We humans,we are typically drawn to the visually beautiful landscapes, the picturesque postcard places.
But this place,it is beautiful in its ugliness.
It’s true!
You tread a place of rot, fallen debris, nothing to offer the civilized eyball.
And therein lies the beauty.
I thank you for taking me on this tour.
Did you call that bee a ‘fuzzbutt’?😅
Hi Tom good to see you your back, I’ve missed your quiet wandering and the finds you find. I miss seeing the bare trees and cold weather. I live in Australia and it’s already very hot here and it’s not even summer yet. Take care and thank you for sharing your beautiful wandering 👏🙏❤️
Thank you. Always enjoyable
Thanks Christy, I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Good Evening from Sweden Tom. ☺ Looking forward to watching this exploration of the New Old dumpsite. I've missed your videos. It's always so peaceful, relaxing and also exiting both watching you searching/rummaging around and, your pleasant and calming voice and wording you use.
Now to watch!! 👀
I find my camera doing it's own thing as well, usually at the most inopportune time. That must have been quite a workout on the side of the hill. You found quite a nice variety of interesting finds. Love the sun through the glass bottles and really enjoyed the walk. It would be interesting to see what could be in the tunnel, the things inside it may be a little protected from being smashed up having that guard on the entrance. Have a great weekend Tom, and thanks again for the walk.
Haven’t seen you in a while, hope all is well! Your videos are always so peaceful to listen to and watch. Nice finds!
Tom, I believe the glass object you found and thought was a bottom for a teacup is the lower half of a rounded butter server. I have one that belonged to my grandmother and it looks very much like it. That's why it has that lip ridge around it., to hold the round butter in place. It has a rounded dome top.
How lovely to see one of your walks Tom. I hope you and your family are well.
Fajnie,że znów nagrałeś film 👍
Pozdrawiam serdecznie 🇵🇱
Another great video Tom , thank you 😊 .
Thanks Jane, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
The figure you found is a Marx indian. Marx is the largest American toy manufacturer of the mid 20th century. Famous for toy trains, fort Apache, rock m' sock em' robots, plastic big wheels, ect, ect. That one could be painted, so it's colour is coincidental. Looks like it was made in the 1960s. It should have a date on the base in roman numerals.
I have missed your videos Tom, the country side views and the quiet surroundings. The car noise doesnt bother me. This was an interesting dump site it seems huge and newer then most sites you visit. Have a great day and stay safe✌️
Good to see you back Tom I have missed your videos and by the way great video.
Thanks!
And thank you, this is very kind of you. 🙂
Lovely to have you back Tom, hope to see you out again soon, your dump rambles are the best antidote to a dreich cold day.
Good to see you back Tom. That dump definitely warrants a second visit, appears to have potential for more interesting finds. A walk through the river on a sunny day would be very pleasant and rewarding. Hope you are well.
So nice to see more of your wanderngs and commentary, Tom!
I have to admit, as I was watching this, a thought came to me. Fiction written surrounding the 'Character of Tom's Voice'. Not really fan fiction as such, but more a fleshing out- in a totally non-doxing way- a completely fictional character based on just a couple elements- voice and view/view point/point of view. The thoughts that fallowed were on the lines of: what age would he be, what foods does he like, his favorite sweater discription... 'Tom's Voice' is already a character in my repertoire. Others are 'Dark Shoes', 'Giggles' Other Life' and 'Dickens and Milne Love Child'.
Between my over-active imagination, the COVID-borne life-limits and the RUclips factor, the products of my weirdly creative head are a constant amusement. I sit beside myself and just laugh and laugh....
Thank you- for your voice as well as your honesty and faithfulness of self. And best wishes from an island on the coast of Maine
New to your channel tom. Fully enjoyed and ill definitely watch more.. very relaxing video 🫡👍
So glad to see you back x
Thank you, I'm glad to be back. 🙂
Hello Tom so nice to go on a treasure hunt with you, thank you for a wonderful walk. ☺️
Thanks Veronica, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Wonderful to see you back again, Tom. That transformer you found has a similar look to an old doorbell transformer that I used to see in the '60s but dates back to the 30s and 40s.
I love your videos! Your voice is so soothing, and you give an interesting commentary! I live in Illinois. USA. we don't have many interesting mudlarking sites close to where I live.
Tom you have been very much missed ! Great video and what a wonderful place .. looking down towards the stream I could almost hear it calling you 😀 . Would like to see more of that place and I think that hillside has more to give while wading x
I always get a little sad and a whole lot of mad, when I see dumpsites right above a water way. It helps that you acknowledge rather than avoid addressing the problem. Thanks for your adventure and giving me reason to smile.
Hello 👋 Tom very nice 👁️ to see & hear your voice 😮 Excellent Adventure 🌄🌳🙋♀️🦃🥧Thanks
So happy to see you! I've missed your lovely voice and wanderings ❤
Lovely to see your video pop up. Perfect viewing on a winter evening. ❤
Thanks Claire 🙂.
I would love to see you do a river walk there, Tom. The HIS bottle and the tall green one are my favorites!❤
its a very steep tip is that one tom, im still not too sure where the older stuff is on there but its not a bad sight just a bit modern.great to have another vid.
Thanks Tom always a pleasure to see a new adventure
So glad to be back on another adventure with you. Finding the small and interesting things of lives past. Wonderful. With music!
Glad to be back Artie, and glad to see your comment and generosity. I hope you're keeping well, and I'm aiming to have another video out within the more usual timeframe. 🙂
Just stay well. That's the main thing. Best to you.
Long overdue! Happy day!
Thank you, I agree, long overdue. I'm trying to get back into the swing of editing after some severe mental blockages. Hopefully the next one will be weeks, rather than months. 🙂
What a treat! Lovely video as always. Live your silly side, lol. Yes, I, for one, would love a video from the river looking up- very much enjoy the wading videos. The only downside on this video was that the higher notes of the music hurt my ears, and when I turned the volume down so they woolen hurt, I wasn't able to hear your narration, lol. I hope that you are hale and healthy.
Thanks Yaya, and sorry I didn't get the levels quite right. I'll try to pay a bit more attention to that on the next one. I hope you're hale and healthy too. 🙂
your channel is the last bottle digging site I follow. Leaving in the south of England it's always nice to see the north of England countryside as well. Some lovely bottle finds there
I'm thrilled to see your video during today's insane deceit. What a relief.
Thanks Susan, glad to finally get it out 🙂. And I hope tomorrow is less insanely deceitful for you.
Thanks again for taking us along on another fun and interesting lark Tom.
Thank you Mera, I'm very glad you found it both fun and interesting. 🙂
I loved today’s video. I would swear while listening to BBC radio this morning, perhaps 1A, I heard background music so very similar to the music on your video at time stamp 30:26. It was just a snippet of music, but I instantly heard “your” walkabout music and was thrilled to see this video this evening. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this trip to the bottle diggers’ dump site. Looking forward to more videos and your soothing voice.
Don't worry about offending anyone with the "red man" description. I am of Native American/Indian heritage. It wasn't all that long ago (and still do) that we would refer ourselves and the "red man/race". Nowadays, it's more or less always other people that aren't of Native American heritage that want to dictate what we and others SHOULD deem as offensive. It's the same with other cultures and those not from those cultures wanting to put what THEY deem PC labels on everyone and everything, never mind what/how we feel about it.
This is rather a great bottle dumpsite Tom. Happy hunting ! 😊. The war club is, of course, a Tomahawk ! Thankyou for honouring what might have been a Mohawk warrior. His stance is proudly defiant - he is now known as Kanienke:hake, not Mohawk. There are about 8 or 9 syllables there. It is power to learn and speak his name.
I was happy to come home and find your video today.
The green glass was lovely. I hope you go back there again.
I noticed the comment from Phil and Caroline and snickered about the age complaints. I’m going to be 76 later in December and have every vertebrae in my lumbar spine fractured so needless to say I don’t scamper up and down hills anymore.
I’m looking forward to The Johnsons tomorrow and the live show on Saturday.
I look forward to your next adventure as well. Bye for now from Ontario 🇨🇦Canada.
I loved the emerald green bottles. Well found!
Thanks Brandy Jean 🙂
Hello Tom. Nice to see a new video from you. Hope I can help you with the green bottle. To me it says JHS which is the common term for Jesus in Catholic meanings. Could the bottle have held so called holy Water and once belonged to a Catholic priest or family? Try to Google for JHS images and you will find lots of crucifixes or medallions with it as a symbol on it. Mostly placed in a circle.
Was a great surprise to me to see two newer videos!
Haven't seen you in quite awhile...
Hope you are feeling and doing well. 💚💙🌻
Some great finds, thanks for the great video. That saucer looking thing is the bottom of a butter dish, it would have had a dome lid also.
So nice to see a new video from you, that was fun. Beautiful green bottles and the round glass looks like the bottom of a butter dish! Thanks so much.
Yay!
Is that an abandoned house and out buildings (below the window you are showing your finds in)? I would live to see the other side of it. The roof looks too good to be abandoned.
Hello Tom,glad to see you again.i missed you.I love oing on walks with you even though is from home.
It’s so great to have you back.If I had my way you would post every week.X
Some of the old plastic toys are collectable, a fascinating outing and a lot of finds
Thanks for coming back the day ive looked forward too has come true
Great to see a new lark and hear your soothing narrative voice! That’s an awesome Star Wars bag, too.
Hi from Ryan, Iowa, USA. Thank you for the videos.
Great seeing you out and about Tom! Thanks for sharing this video
I covet the large clear poison bottle that you left behind!
Glad to hear and see your wander
Thanks Anna, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
I think the glass dish is for a wine bottle, so any drips do not end up on the tablecloth.
That was a pleasing old stone wall next to the road toward the end of the video.
Some good finds there ! Good to hear you again !! ❤️🦘
Woo Hoo Tom is back, makes building cars all day a little less sad.
Luv your adventure, thanks for sharing.
Great hearing you and I enjoyed the video ❤️🇨🇦
Awesome with another relaxing video ❤
it’s like christmas every time you post a video! ❤
Where have you been have you got a day job good video
Hi Tom. Good to see you out.
Hi Andrew, it was good to be out. Out of interest, do you know if there's a metal detecting club in the area? I looked online and found one in Addingham, but was kinda hoping to get into detecting around Calderdale. (And Whitby, where I've managed to find two metal patches by eye, and think I'd like to detect there).
During the fast forward portion, I found myself saying; run Tom, run! 🏃🏻♂️ Another nice wander among the bottle remnants! ✌🏼❤️
I do like a nice Forrest Gump reference. Thanks Lisa 🙂
Sooo good to have another video from you, Tom!
I found three external screwcap, green glass poison bottles at this very site that had been discarded by the diggers. What exactly are they looking for on these modern tips if they are discarding poison bottles?
Most of the diggers I've met don't really rate that site at all, though several of them still dig there occasionally because it's local and you never know... there could be a late throw-out bottle or two in the next hole, or other interesting relics which are more varied and numerous on later dumpsites 🙂. Screw top poison bottles aren't really valued by collectors, there's a snobbery about them and they're somehow perceived to be not as pretty and desirable as other styles.
Lovely... thank you...x
