There's a bit of a crackle in the introduction, a re-render or two didn't mend it, so got to assume it was a microphone issue on the day. Thankfully, it doesn't go beyond the introduction. The round-up is a little wobblier than usual too; I had to use my old Go-Pro camera to film it due to... well, losing my more modern one with better image stabilization to a freakish wave at the seaside. Shortcomings aside, I'm glad to have gotten this video done and out amongst the chaos of Christmas time, and a days long storm that's caused 3 power cuts here so far, and is still blustering and gusting and downing trees. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, or other holiday tradition, and a happy new year.
I love your videos they’re very relaxing you don’t move your camera too fast for us to see what’s going on. You show us the countryside even when you’re just walking back home the music and the calmness is comforting.
Thanks Lydia, I'm glad you find them relaxing. I made the choice to film the countryside, viewing it as integral to the experience of watching along... but can understand the people who chose not to, protecting the locations from too many visitors.
Your voice this month, with having been gifted with two dropped videos from you, has been a well needed gift. Thank you for calm, refreshing landscapes, and beautiful treasures, Tom. Blessings and Good Tidings!
The green poison bottle is a different shade of green to usual too, it's a special little thing 🙂. Wishing you a wonderful Solstice, Christmas, and New year too. 🙂
I still think it’s more interesting to not see the creator of a video. I don’t care what a person looks like and it’s the bases of your videos anyway, I like that it’s not about the person. Great video as always, thanks for being you. Take care and be well.
A up man weres tha bin.happy days..have a lovely Christmas 🎄 to you and your girlfriend and both families. From Steven from South Elmsall/pontefract Castle. 🎉❤
Here, and over in Whiby a lot the last few months. My girlfriend wants to experience living by the sea, and I'm getting used to it. 🙂 Wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas too. 🙂
So good to see another of your videos Tom. We are very familiar with that walk along that lovely section of the river having watched all your videos since 2020. And what a glorious day to be out, Excellent bottle finds and those marbles are little treasures. Tom, we wish you and your partner a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. let's hope humankind recover their sanity next year. take care, Ian and Sue
Hi Tom its good to see you out and about this site i love the sererenity it provides. Wishing you a Merry Chrisymas and a really great New Year❄️☃️🎄✌️❤️
Thanks Tom. Serenity is certainly one of the main draws of that place, that and the wildlife that I still haven't managed to photograph or film very well, (a white stag, kingfishers, a black bird in the shape of a heron, and the tantalising tracks of otters). 🙂Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a truly marvellous New Year too. 🙂
Hi Tom, I admire your determination to mudlark in less than favourable conditions, but you still managed to find a few bits. I did like the bottles that you found, with blue glass ones always being my favourite. I wish you a happy Christmas and a mudlarking New Year. Lets hope it's a good one! 🎅☃️👍🏻
Great fun! I really liked the suspense when you dropped the marble and then it seemed after just the right amount time you pulled up from the depths. Glad to hear your feeling better . Love the channel.
What a beautiful, wonderful person you are. Thoughtful & elegant, thank you for sharing. PS. I am from Texas so there would be rattle snake nests there, can't mudlark here! Merry Christmas & Happy holidays to you and yours!
So happy to see a new video Tom! I’ve missed you and your calming voice! Beautiful green and blue treasures. I worried a little about you slipping into the water. Till next time Mr. Tom! Take care!💙💚💙💚
Sigh that was awesome video, one very needed and appreciated lark. Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas and New Year 🙏❤️🎄🎉thank you again for sharing
Tom, thank you for this lovely video that makes me feel I am there in person. Your video work is superb and never makes me dizzy with spastic movement like many people seem to have in similar videos that are not on par with your work. The music is perfect and so relaxing. I keep on alert to see each new posting you make. Thank you. Merry Christmas!
Tom I would dearly love to join you on a mudlarking day out. It is an ambition of mine to find a nice bottle. Love your videos, love your dialogue. Keep on keeping on. All the best for 2024
Thanks Jane, I hope you fulfil that ambition and find a bottle. And if you're ever in this area, I'd be happy to tell you where the sites are (and maybe, if I'm not too busy or elsewhere, meetup for a lark). Best wishes for you in 2024 too.🙂
I haven't watched for awhile but you continue to defy danger and hint at having a continuing chronic sickness. Hope you stay safe and well. Lots of people would be lost without you.
It's a magical (and a bit monstrous) spot. Lots of mess, lots of treasures, and occasionally some interesting wildlife to spot. (A white stag, kingfishers, a black heron like bird and otters 🙂).
I Don, t want to go to Hawaii or any holiday resort in the finest places, I just want one day to go mudlarking with one of you lot in England. Maybe one day I will be able to go back and can accomplish my dream.... Only discovered this world this year, through you tube.. You, Fleur, Kate, Nicola, Simon and all the rest.. Frustrating that our beaches and rivers are absolutely impecable here in Galicia.
I hope you can make it someday, and that the weather is kind for your visit. Likewise, I hope to visit Galicia one day, and see some pristine beaches and rivers. Plus maybe a visit to Santiago de Compostela for the history and culture. 🙂
I like when you tell about the history of the bottle dump. This is shirley from new Bern north Carolina u.s.a. thank you have a .erry Christmas and a safe new year🎉😂🎉🎉🎉❤😊😅
*Kia ora (hello) Tom 🙂 I want to wish you & your family a Meri Kirihimete (merry Christmas) and a happy new year. I have always loved watching your videos and also listening to your soothing voice. All the best for 2024 🙂 from across the oceans down here in Aotearoa which is the Maori word for New Zealand & the Long White Cloud. 🙂.*
Another fantastic video today in the river. The finds are almost always keepable. Enjoy the holidays ahead, and hope your lady friend is well. Thank you for the video, Tom. See you on the next. Cheers Tom. 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Great video Tom, that dump really is a behemoth! Municipal dumps certainly hold some fascinating treasures, and when water filters them and sorts metal into patches, you really can find some gems - your fresh water looks kinder to finds than my salty sea 😂🙌🙌 Love the finds and the allure of that slightly apocalyptic place!
I actually like the machinery and toys more than anything. Everyone and their uncle go after pottery and glass. By pointing out some of the things that actually played a part in building the civilization we live in, you offer a glimpse into a world that people today may not experience elsewhere, and due to it's nature, may not be around for long, as much of it is steel or iron and when it's gone , all that archaeologists will ever find is a brown stain in the strata, never knowing that we built things of dreams that will never exist again. Tell their stories.
Happy New Year. I hope you are healthy this time around. If I could shout, it would be to take the rejected ink bottle to tumble. The other shout would be for the hunk of slag glass, left behind. I have a large one on my picnic table, and it looks great in the sun. Thanks.
Lovely marbles there Tom. I think I almost stopped hearing anything you said after you stated that you waded waist high through the water😮. I sure hope you can swim if need be.
I do like your reflections about time, and timing, of videos, and their launching onto your page. I like how the right moment for making a video could be a year after the date of filming. The water here looks heavy. The model is of a seed caster, I think, wearing a tunic. But, I fully accept it could also be of Amelia Earhart.
Thank you Tom! I always look forward to your uploads and am very happy when I do find that you've uploaded an adventure in history. Your voice is so calming, something that I cherish since I have CPTSD and PTSD and my nerves are quite often way outside my physical body. Your voice alone and listening to how you calmly and descriptively describe your finds, as well as your thoughts, does help me A LOT, to put me in a calmer state of mind. I do also love Kit and Caboodlers as well as the Northern Mudlarks, even if they do make me jump at times with their gleeful outbursts 😁when they find something special. Those for some reason don't cause me to go into overdrive stress reaction, as I do find them quite funny and lovely, after the first reactional JUMP SCARE.... LOL Please be safe and wishing you a peaceful and joyful Christmas, if you celebrate the "holiday". I tend to isolate during those occasions... That's just how I am and desperately need the peace and tranquility, without all the stress and intrusive memories those "holidays" bring back to haunt mind. Much love from Sweden. //Solani
Back at my happy place! Wonderful video Tom and some lovely finds. I especially like the marbles, they are beauties. Wishing you and yours a merry Christmas and a happy new year 😀💖🌲☃🎁x
Thank you Tom. No worries , I'm too old and arthritic to go mudlarking or even walking through meadows where I might turn an ankle in a rut far from medical assistance. Best i do is walk my dog 3 times a day and 3 more times just out in the front garden.😂
Tom, It's now the wining days of December and so much has happened, still I always look forward to your adventures and commentary no matter the month or order. The light and landscapes of this fair land are always marvelous. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Frederick "Rik" Spector

I'm often in your area (ish). Hopefully, we can make it happen. In the meantime I will vicariously mudlark via youtube
I'm in the states but always think the same of joining along
I haven't watched for awhile but you continue to defy danger and hint at having a continuing chronic sickness. Hope you stay safe and well. Lots of people would be lost without you.
Yes it looks beautiful there wish I were there to look with you so many pretty pieces!!!
It's a magical (and a bit monstrous) spot. Lots of mess, lots of treasures, and occasionally some interesting wildlife to spot. (A white stag, kingfishers, a black heron like bird and otters 🙂).
That little green glass teacup would be wonderful with a jumpring added on a chain. Precious

Oh yes, I do talk to the screen saying pick up that! This I do when watching other mudlark videos. This is the first time I've seen this channel.

Happy New Year. I hope you are healthy this time around.

Certainly from about September to January here. 🙂
Hope the storm calms soon!
Thanks Annie, it's a bit calmer than last night, and should have moved off by Tomorrow mid-day.

Hello Tom,
Its always interesting to take a journey along that cliff face in your company.
I'm sure that on the outward journey at the waters edge, i spotted a blue marble at the beginning, about 2:42 in.
It might be the one you picked up on the return.
Any journey is worth it, even if you find one nice item, but i would consider it a good trip to have two old marbles and a miniature poison bottle.👍🎄
Best wishes from Wales.
Absolutely love green glass jar
Glad t see you back and feeling better.
I'll watch later when on
I hope you enjoy it. 🙂
Merry Christmas to you xx Great to see you again x The little lead figure is a farmer scattering seed by hand xx The old fashioned way xx
A fine video,as always.
Speaking of videos,I don’t think that I have viewed your Q&A episode, but regarding why you never allow your face to be filmed,I have a theory.
Your videos are legendary for the narration.
You are a very articulate wordsmith.
With that in mind,I suspect that you may,in fact, look like Cyrano Debergerac 😅
I hope I’m wrong!!!
Oh, well guessed Charles. I do in fact and actuality possess a rather large nose 😀
Not too big though, and generally sits in my face largely unnoticed, and it imbues me with a fine sense of smell.
I knew it🤣
But seriously,I wish you the best,Merry Christmas to you and all of your beloved ones, master wordsmith.
And master mudlark!
A delightful video - as ever. I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but the disc you unearthed at 18:47 looks very much like a colliery token. Cheers👍🏼
At around 5:18 there was a shard of pottery featuring a beautiful pink rose. I yelled “Tom, pick that up!”, guess you couldn’t hear me over the flowing river water😂
I am just getting over being weak and sick as well, one good thing to come out of it all, I am now like 21 days free of smoking cigarettes. been smoking for 41 yrs. since I was sick I quit cold turkey. I find it hard to believe I have been sick that long well this long. Merry Christmas, A wonderful mudlark! I miss seeing your videos! For your joke on videoing a store shopping, I think for me I do love 2nd hand stores and looking for treasures that way. :) I wish you Happy Holidays!
Congratulations on quitting smoking! I know how challenging it can be. Stay strong, you can do this!
❤❤❤❤❤. 😊
