Although ITV did improve the general coverage of races, having advert breaks in races just was NOT right. I mean you missed the moment the 1998 title was decided when Schumacher got his puncture on an ad break!
Just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work uploading 'Grand Prix'! You have literally provided me with hours of entertainment and reminded me why F1 is the sport I love. I actually subscribe to F1TV, but honestly the 'official' highlights for most of the 80s which are most of what's on there, just don't match the BBC highlights with Murray and James. It's so sad that the channel has been decimated by the powers that be.. Keep going Big Z!
Thanks jdw! Yeah I had F1tv but I just thought the archive was very disappointing and also the actual player was rubbish. Don't know if that has changed much?
@@bigzeddie76 - it hasn't changed at all since I subscribed in 2020, though thankfully errors and crashes have lessened! The highlights are interesting; for some seasons (88-90) there are hour-long highlights for each race with 'commentary' by Tony Jardine and Bob Constanduros. Other 80s/early 90s seasons are either also extended highlights or just ~10 minutes per race mostly commentated by Simon Taylor (wealth of knowledge but not a good commentator!). Some races have BBC highlights with Murray and James, but with none of the build-up. For 2002-2018 they have simply cut the segments for each race out of the official FIA review dvds with Ben Edwards.
Brundles crash in the Jordon, he was a tough nut Martin to restart that race too. Berger's fireball crash was frightening. Great clips all-round BZ. Much appreciated uploads for the vintage f1 fans 👍
Every time I see that 1990 crash it makes me irate. The way Senna put everyone at risk because of his petty ego really is out of order. Hypocritical considering how much he constantly went banging on about safety in the sport. Huge thank you BZ. Absolute legend for all of this
I wonder if any high quality audio exists from this time period?, I could listen quite happily to that with no pictures. I love that thumbnail it sums up the best years perfectly. 😂

Excellent video :) Love this. I don't suppose you have or can get someone to upload the BBC Live footage, including buildup, to the 1994 British Grand Prix? Jonathan Palmer did a big talk on F1 safety and what they were trying to achieve, a bit of history etc too. Well worth a watch.
It was a great pity that ITV took over from BBC atthe end of 1996 - Martin Brundle was and is a good commentator but the commercial breaks and Grand Prix Racing did not go well together
@@bigzeddie76 I genuienly wonder why, if anything these classic races just bring more attention to older drivers and of course F1 itself too. They are just jealous they aren't releasing it and getting views, as if they ever would... thats why I respect you alot, you are showing people how F1 used to be and the great personalities behind those helmets, showing basically lost footage if I dare say it
