Wow, I remember recording this Grand Prix program on VHS at the time and watched this montage dozens of times because of the editing AND the accompanying music. It gave me goosebumps as it was a cracking season (Prost fan!). On a whim I just did a search for "1988 Grand Prix Montage" and it brought me here. Social Media sucks in general but RUclips is a treasure trove.
My God thankyou thanyou thankyou for sharing this. I used to have this on VHS but gave the tapes away to a good friend many years ago. I loved the old BBC end of season videos. This was my favourite. Although 87 was "Tom Fogerty" and 89 was "Fleetwood Mac" and both were pretty damn fine ;-)
I tell you want though, 1989 was absolutely mesmerising. If you can find it, it had Fleetwood Mac's 'go your own way' and that sent shivers down my spine.
1988, no, the 1980s in general was the era of McLaren. The 90s were for Williams, 2000s for Ferrari, 2010s for Mercedes, this decade for Red Bull. Who will emerge dominant in the 2030s? Edit: 3 months later McLaren is on course to winning the Constructors title, how the turntables 😂
Cracking season in 1988 - Prost v Senna, absolute Gods..............incomparible to the media whores of todays F1 where it seems we need to know all about the drivers girlfriends and families! Bring back the real men and let the kids play on their xbox.
I've wanted to see this again for years. 1988 was my first season watching f1 and I always remember this montage giving the 11 year old me chills
Every few years I look for this again.... Finally found it! ❤️
Same here!!
This was my 1st season and loved the season review
Always remembered Warwick’s arrows taking off in Canada

@tonypap1 Hi, it's composed by Charlie Skarbek and is called 'The Final Furlong'. Hope this helps!
FANTASTIC.
Ayrton Senna and Michele Alboreto RIP.
THE Golden era of F1
I remember this as a kid... loved it!! Memories :)
This is great, i've been looking for these bbc end of season vids for age, I just can't find 1989. :( lol
The one with Fleetwood Mac's 'Go Your Own Way' as the tune? Yup, I have it on a VHS somewhere (as well as the one above), but I can't find it :-(
Anyone know if the driver animations are by the same guy who illustrates the autosport cartoons?
it was, the late, great Jim Bamber! an absolute legend!
The best season ending credits for Formula One that the BBC ever did or will ever do.

@F1JOSH1297 Yes they are, Jim Bamber is his name.
Sorry, i should have been more specific, i meant the tune that plays throughout the video from the start.
*BBC 1988 **-Grand Prix-** McLaren Season Review:*

First adrian newey car, the march, cappelli nearly won with it as it got more competitive as season went on. Genius.
