Hopefully you don’t have a mind like a sieve, so you can use the similes from this English idiom video in your English conversations. Today’s English vocabulary lesson will help you improve your English fluency by teaching you useful similes! Learn what a simile is as well as how to make comparisons with these common idioms in English.
    What is a simile?: A simile is a type of idiom that is used in causal or informal English conversations. It is an expression for comparison where the words come together in a particular order to create a new non-literal meaning. The similes in today’s lesson are used a lot in daily life to describe things in English. Learning these comparison idioms will help you to improve your English skills and sound more like a native speaker.
    There are two main kinds of similes in English. This lesson will explain what these types of similes are and give you some helpful examples of each.
    Similes 1 - 8: As + Adjective + As + A Noun
    1. As sick as a dog
    2. As dry as a bone
    3. As busy as a beaver / As busy as a bee
    4. As red as a beet
    5. As blind as a bat
    6. As quick as a wink
    7. As white as a ghost

    Here are some examples of mine 😊
    - last week I twisted my ankle, it hurt so bad 😔 it hurt like hell , but the pain is substantially subsided, and I feel much better now 😊
    When the new shopping mall opened for the first time, people were running inside like chickens with their heads cut off ! 😅 because everything was low priced and some items were completely for free , wow 😍
    My twin sister is as cool as a cucumber 🥒 but I have a bit of temper !
    She's so nice to everyone, she's like a breath of fresh air 😊

    Why do you tend to drop the first ‘as’ when it’s in a sentence?

      That is an excellent question 👍🏻✨. In Canada, many times when native English speakers are talking, we often omit the first 'as' if we use similes🇨🇦. I am not sure if native English speakers in other countries do the same or not, so I tried to teach the similes 'correctly', but sometimes ended up forgetting to include the first 'as'. You have very good ears 😁.
