    My new theory is that Ben releases a new video whenever he runs out of money for iced tea

    My favourite moment in any of Ben's videos is when he says "they're yelling it at home!" and I really happen to be :)
    Great video as always! Watching your content really helped my play get better. Bonus points for not making it super dry and boring like most chess RUclipsrs! Keep on doing what you're doing and I'll keep watching!

    Despite the blunders it’s crazy how they can understand a position that’s changing tactically every move with like 5 seconds on the clock.

    First game, I thought of Ra8 instead of BxN. It's not better, but Black also has to find Be7, which might also be not too easy in time pressure.

    At 1:25 I thought the move would be Ra8, after Rxa8 we have Lxd6 checkmate. But probably after Be7 (instead of Rxa8) its not so clear

      *bxd6, not Lxd6. So it's not only me: it's a checkmate, isn't? Unless black plays Kd7 instead of taking the rook.

    @Minute 44
    hi Ben, it might be the first reason. After realizing that Nxb6 would be winning it seems Magnus went into Lasker mode and tried to find a better ending. Apparently he was distracted by the beauty of the Rook being blocked from going to g4 by the Knight on f6. Since Rf1+ had been prevented forever AND the Queen was not pinning the rook at this point anymore he considered that "concluded" thereby missing that after the (now mentally excluded) Rf1+ Rg1 the Knight would be hanging with check.
    What you think?

    I played in that tournament you mentioned at the end. I felt like I did reasonably well. Only a 1.5/3 from the first three rounds. Then I got really drunk and super high and had someone over and by the time I woke up it was way past the starting time. It was one of those awakenings where you abruptly open your eyes and become aware that you've seen light and you sharply inhale because you know you're screwed before you even look at the time. Somehow I even gained 50 rating points from that tournament. I think it's just the mathematics of a weakly rated player playing actually okay against opponents 200 points higher rated. So yeah, good tournament. I remember it fondly.

    At 42:10 if Qxb6 the threat isnt ...Qxd7 cause of Qc7 forcing black to trade queens and white will promote to queen again in next move. The actuall threat is ...rf1+ rg1 qd5 mate.

    at 20:08 white is better because of many things. 1. whites rook is active 2. whites king is active. 3. white has extra moves and black doesn't 4. blacks completely passive.

      I know that people want to inject drama into everything, but whatever sour things happened between Ben and part of the SLCC management, happened *after* he had left (at least from what he has publicly said regarding the photo copyright dispute).
      Plus, the SLCC isn't monolithic, it's so many people. I'm certain Ben still has many, many friends in Saint Louis.

      Playing f4 allows the king to move to e4 then capture the d pawn on d4 if the king moves or d5 if it moves. Then depending on where the king goes black will capture the kingside or queenside white pawns and win.
