Thanks for making me think of tuna in Olive Oil. I had been trying to get my fat in with my Primal Kitchen Mayo etc. on my way to the store to mix up my tuna stock in the pantry.
Yummy looks delish Joe 👍 I didn't even know they made tuna in olive oil lol my Hubby does the grocery shopping in my house! Putting it on the list and will have mine wrapped in some romaine lettuce ✋
This is great - thank you! I'm a diabetic and always feel tired after a sandwich lunch. Have just tried this and it tasted great. I certainly don't feel tired afterwards so this has helped me. Thank you.
Excellent video and directions. Your recipe videos r nice and quick - to the point but still doesn't miss anything. Really appreciate not being overwhelmed by looooong videos which lots of others do - motivates me and makes me see how doable it is.
Knife tip - leave the root end of the onion in place, just halve or quarter it with the root intact. It'll hold the onion together while you're dicing it.
Quick questions: Does the mayo act up with the lemon juice if you keep it in the fridge? Is it safer just to add the lemon just before serving, or does it even make a difference? Am I just being paranoid? How long can one keep it in the fridge? I'm thinking 2 days max(?). This salad is delicous, by the way. The Dijon really makes it kick.
I use dill pickle relish, not wanting to mess around with dill itself. Adds the crunch of pickles without the mess of handling the tiny bits of dill. Win-win for me.
Albacore is $4-$5 a can where I live. Regular tuna is $1 a can! A jar of Primal Kitchen Mayo is $10. After I buy the mayo, I can't afford the albacore on my food budget. This tastes great any way you make it. I sometimes toss in a chopped hard boiled egg to add flavor, texture & a few extra macros. Then I top it off with TJ's chili lime spice & wrap it in a red lettuce leaf. Yum.
This looks delicious! Thanks. I recently really cut back on my total daily calories and tightened up my macros. This will be great since it is so low carb and the proteins and fat will keep me full.
It would take years for the oil to lead to any plumbing issues. But to help prevent fruit flies from finding one's kitchen, yes, draining the liquids into a paper towel-lined resealable bag would be best. The bag can then be closed tight and put in the trash, and won't leak because the paper towels soaked up the liquid.
In case you don’t know, "albacore" tuna is the one we shouldn’t eat. It’s the highest of the tunas regarding mercury. As a rule: the smaller the fish the safer it is.
Joe, I really like all your recipes. And the fact that they don't require. ingredients found only in the farther reaches of our galaxy! Do you have a cookery book published?
Looks real good,, but I do not perceive the fat to carbohydrate/protein ratio as relevant to keto. Maybe I'm wrong. Can you supply and estimate of the calories from fat, protein, carbohydrates? Maybe a higher fat fish (tuna is extremely low in fat and high in protein) such as salmon would help achieve better ratios?
I made pretty much exactly this recipe today (except without dill and lemon), but I used wholegrain mustard, EV olive oil and balsamic vinegar, instead of mayo .. it was delicious! (I'm not actually on a Keto diet as such, but I'm assuming those substituted ingredients would be okay, even if I was?)
Whatever makes you happy, actually, if you're not on the keto plan. No sense questioning what would be right since you're not on it, so just enjoy what you made (I'm not Joe, obviously, but I am on keto, and yes, those ingredients would be fine on keto).
I love tuna so this is GREAT! Thanks for sharing! Do you share these recipes at the restaurants? Oh my, you should!! Love you Joe! So glad I found you!!!!! GOD bless you.
My Mom always washed her canned-tuna in a wire basket under fresh water & then dried it while it was in the basket straining most water out... No soggy tuna for her & no unclean tuna either!!! I am not sure why they washed it through the 50's-70's but when I make anything with canned-tuna I always wash it first & foremost 🐟
She also used celery seeds if she didn't have fresh celery & onion powder if no red onions either & "boy" did she get the Compliments each & every time!!! She was an Avid Entertainer for Family, Friends, Neighbors, Dad's Co-workers, Kid's Friends &/or Dates, Church Friends, etc.... Gee, Those Were The Days!!!
I am on carnivore and mayo is a no no. Of course the veggies are too. I have substituted sour cream for mayo and added a couple hard boiled eggs in it…you can also put in a touch of mustard even though mustard isn’t carnivore…it won’t hurt.
We need to get you a cutting board that has rubber feet on it! Every time I see you put that wet paper towel down I think, seriously his wife needs to buy him the right cutting board! LOL
Jaded Optimist, I use some of PK’s products. But OH, that fresh aioli that you can make with olive, avocado, coconut or even peanut oil is amazing. Try it once and see. 🤤 So easy to make after a trial or two.
I make my tuna salad once or twice a month because I worry about the excessive amounts of mercury & other toxins that the creatures of the sea are living in. I used to eat it every day!
@@sherrydee7880 Yeh, sadly people have been using it as a dumping ground for years. Nobody knows where or what a fish has been swimming near and there is also a mass of radioactive waste dumped into the sea too :\
Thanks Joe. Will definitely try this when it finally warms up. I'm currently addicted to your chilli recipe. Would you consider making a kale and cauliflower soup?! 😊😊
Who's making this for lunch/dinner :)
Joe Duff - The Diet Chef 👩🍳 ME minus the tomatoes. I’d rather save those carbs and add some chopped dill pickle 😉

I always add a jalapeño to my tuna, just because I love spicy anything. If you like spice, give it a try!
Me too!
@To Release is To Resolve LOL
Yesssss
Spice and heat are not the same thing
I have tried a lot of your recipes and have never been disappointed. Thank you for sharing these.
I usually stuff tuna salad in some sweet peppers or cucumbers and eat them like that. Its so good 🤤
I followed this recipe and just finished making it. I must say, this is definitely going to be a part of my keto meal plan. Thank you so much!

Boy, that looks GOOD!! I like tuna salad, so I do believe this recipe is going into my "fish file"!
I gotta make this

I’m so happy right now because I even have dill!!!🎉 Thank you!
Dill is the best herb for tuna salad, chicken salad, all kinds of cold dishes are really kicked up to perfection with dill!
I use dill pickle relish, not wanting to mess around with dill itself. Adds the crunch of pickles without the mess of handling the tiny bits of dill. Win-win for me.

Sherry Dee There’s videos on how to make your own mayo
Tuna salad is so delicious! I just bought everything for mine. I also like to add some sugar free relish and dill pickles toy tuna.
FYI, they also make dill pickle relish which works great for tuna
This looks delicious! Thanks. I recently really cut back on my total daily calories and tightened up my macros. This will be great since it is so low carb and the proteins and fat will keep me full.
I usually put in boil eggs instead of veggies just bc dieting is hard so I cut back on time but it is sooooo good.
Thanks
This was exactly as it was explained (delicious 😊)and more !! Thank u 🙏🏽
Perfect for Lent, thank you. ♥️
Ew. Stupid
Joe , you cook so effortlessly ❣️
hahaha, this is not cooking but putting some ingredients together.
Thank you! Turned out delicious 😋
Thanks for the spinning the lemon trick, I'd never tried that 😂
It’s a MUST otherwise the recipe won’t work
I love tuna salad! Can’t wait to make this!💕
Hope you love it!
You should try tuna with onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and tomatillo add some lemon salt and pepper omgosh. Add a jalapeno too
Looks dank, gonna have to try this. Shoulda thought about it sooner, might add some pecans too
Good idea for tonight 👌 👏 thanks Joe
Looks colorful and healthy! Yummy!
You make something I wouldn’t normally like look delicious and I’ll definitely be trying it x
Dont drain the water and especially the olive oil in the sink drain (oil can lead to plumbing issues). Best to drain it in a bag
Dried cranberries are good too
Only the *Agoge diet* worked for me, I lost so much fat and feel great. Keto just made me tired.
Got my plan, looks good 👌
definitely get this, works great
Love your channel. Good to know about the carb count but wish more keto food channels would give the calories as well.
Doug Curtis always in the video description
Oh yes your tuna salad combination is perfect. Love it. New frend here. God bless
I'll make this keto tuna salad this evening thanks for sharing btw I have the same knife as yours. 🤗

You don't know what your missing by not adding cream cheese to that. Tuna auth mayo & cream cheese is so incredibly delicious!!!
Thank you so much for this recipe. Def what I was searching for. What type of mayo did you use?
Do you add egg to your tuna salad?
It's not tuna salad without eggs!!!🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚

I don't like tuna so I used the exact recipe with boiled eggs instead for egg salad sandos. Loved it.
KnowYourHistory That’s a great idea. Thanks 💕
This recipe works great with either hard boiled eggs or shredded chicken breast
Curious, my maintain is around 3200 cals a day, How many portions would i get out of this exact setup with 4 tins of tuna, Cheers.
I made it , love it!!

Ha, i feel ya! I don’t usually like dijon, but in this it was 🔥
I always keep Dijon and yellow mustard on hand but for this I always use yellow mustard.
I’m not a fan of tuna salad but this looks really good! I just may make it!

Super delicious & healthy! 🐟🥗🧄
A simple spin that I like is to make a (roasted garlic) aioli instead of store bought mayo.
Love that idea

Yum and a Wegmans product .. where are you located?
Now I want tuna!!😊
How many days will this keep in the refrigerator?
How long can I keep this in the fridge?
Yum❤
What kind of mayo was that please
Doesn’t celery and onion only have like 5 grams of carbs
Can u plz suggest some ways to use coconut butter😞
Would this be good with trout instead of tuna?
I would make this without the mayo. I seem to break out from the oils in mayo. But yes this looks pretty normal for salad.
I bet it is just as good with sour cream instead of mayonnaise, I hope it wirks out :)))
I like to add avocado to my tuna...delish!
Don't eat this too often though. The recommendation on eating Tuna is not to eat more than 4 cans a week (due to Mercury content)
I make my tuna salad once or twice a month because I worry about the excessive amounts of mercury & other toxins that the creatures of the sea are living in. I used to eat it every day!

Thanks Joe. Will definitely try this when it finally warms up. I'm currently addicted to your chilli recipe.

I guess what would make tuna salad not keto Is sweet relish.
💯💯💯
I use sweet relish in my keto tuna salad. As long as you don't use too much you can keep the carbs low still. It makes the tuna salad so much better.
They make sugar free sweet relish (and also dill pickle relish). Both are great with tuna
