I just made Michael's tuna salad and it is WONDERFUL!!!!! I have never been able to make good tuna salad before but always used the canned tuna version. The jarred tuna filets and the dill picked relish make all the difference, in my opinion. Finally, a tuna salad recipe that I like. Well done, Michael!!!!

I just happened upon this video and heard Paula Deen's laughter and I was hooked! It is lunch time here and I got out my tuna and mayo and onions and celery and dill and made the same salad!! Hi Paula and Michael I have been looking for a good recipe for tuna fish salad! Ingredients sound delicious! Thank you for sharing! May the Lord richly bless you both in a special way!
1) Tonnino Tuna Filets (preferably packed
in olive oil - drained & finely separated)
2) Celery (finely chopped)
3) Onions (chopped small)
4) Vlasic Dill Relish (strained)
5) A few dashes of pepper...
6) Eggs (steamed & preferably finely
chopped)
7) Hellman's Mayonnaise
Sounds and looks tasty! 😉
@Megan Breanna When Paula went to the store, she picked up two jars of Tonnino Tuna Filets. Since she was hoping that Michael would be trying to cut back on fat, she selected one jar packed in oil, and another packed in water. It was sort of a compromise for him.
In the video he told her that he prefers using the tuna packed in oil. He said he drains it out anyway, so in his mind, it doesn't make that much difference. But then he sort of laughed and alluded that he makes up for it with a lot of mayonnaise. Lol!
But anyway, to answer your question, first he opened the jar of olive oil-packed tuna, drained it, and poured it into the bowl. Then he opened the other jar containing the spring water-packed tuna, drained it, and added that into the bowl.
_Both jars have a gold lid._ But the tuna fillets with the olive oil has a black label on the jar, and the tuna fillets with the spring water has a sky blue label on the jar..
I just now edited the listing of the ingredients so that they would appear in the same order as when they were added on the video.
If u want to switch it up try with some cold cooked macaroni and other any seasoning to taste on a bed of lettuce. ❤

That’s how I make mine except I don’t use Hellmann’s. I use blue plate.

That really looks good! Never havr seen any jars of tuna only cans and foil packets. I love tuna salad!
They do sell it in the jar. It’s right with the cans of tuna. They have it in water or olive oil. It costs about $8 a jar here in Florida……Publix sells it.
Tonnino sells a variety of tuna in jars, very good & sells for 7/8 dollars. Not at all stores, I buy it at The Fresh Market.

I love the jars. The tuna is Italian. I don't like mayonnaise or relish, but I like tuna salad.
I live in a rural area and it is harder to find it in a jar. I buy it when I go into Dallas at Central Market or Whole Foods.

I really enjoyed this cooking lesson!! I am a fan of both dill and sweet pickle relish. Dill in tuna and sweet pickle in potato salad. And I’ve never seen tuna in the jar. Never looked. I have had salmon in a jar. The best taste ever. Thanks for the recipe!!🥰

I use either sweet or dill pickle relish in my tuna salad - I guess it depends upon what kind of mood I'm in: Sweet or Sour!
I sometimes add chopped apple to my tuna salad.

When my mother would make tuna salad, she would use her homemade and home canned green tomato relish in her tuna salad. Since I’ve never had any relish as good as hers, I usually just use sweet pickle relish myself. Good job Michael!
I used to help my mother in law can green tomatoand zucchini squash relish. How I miss it.
Y’all just made my day so much better with your laughter and love! My Mama made her’s very similar to this, but when she and my Daddy were going to eat it as a salad(not in a sandwich), she would always add it to cooked cubed potatoes. Cream of tuna over some great boiled potatoes is really good too! I've had it as a kid and
haven't had it ever since! The cream sauce, starting out with a roo, butter, salt and pepper
is all that you really need!
What a fun video. I haven't seen any tuna in a jar but at $7.00 a jar if I make Michael's world famous tuna salad it will have the substitution of canned tuna. Loved seeing Michael and Paula together.

I made this recipe today for our lunch. I used canned tuna in water. I used a strainer to remove the water. I also happened to have Romaine lettuce leaves to use instead of a roll and, it is delicious! I also want to tell you that I try to add shaved carrot to my tuna salad giving it another healthy addition. 💗"💗and best dishes..." to Paula and Michael.

I also use dill relish and I add just a little tony chesires and mustard to it. I buy the tuna in the pouches, I sure did not know it comes in a jar too. I will check it out. Love yall to pieces. I don't even recall ever seeing them at Sprouts or other grocery stores. 🤔 I will be looking for it..my next shopping trip. I think he used 2 jars? I know my fave is Best Foods Mayo n Ur's is Prob called Hellman's same co. & the dill will be my preference from the cold container frig area..if not the shelf store ones will work also n once opened go in the home frig.

What hap that ur show disappeared for like 2 yrs n today May 1 2022 u popped up. I didn't see ur follow up tour . .only the one that still was not completed. I use only good quality omega 3 oils not ever omega 6 which is so many varied types n are harmful n toxic to liver n kidneys.
Stay in top of making efforts to have immune system at par. & know Sugar n Sub Sugars as well + Bad Carbs Big Culprits. There are now safe alternatives of sweetner's that will be ok n couple that say tolerable by many diabetics..( something like that.) 👊🏼 👊🏼 💜 Gt' G'ma 🌹 in Calif near San Diego. Y old android ph is full to capacity mem n stg n drops msgs n changes words ..very annoying.
This was a triple win for me. I made the tuna and it was fantastic. The trick of steaming the eggs for easy peel was a game changer; how have I never heard of this before? Loved Michael’s shirt so much I ordered two for my husband. 👍👍👍
