Totally agree with your comments about the different approach to a car like this, compared to a 'run of the mill car'.
This is the exact reason I always ensure my car insurances have choice of repairer. That way I decide who works on my cars, rather than a desk jockey at an insurance company.

Worked for Aston Martin for 4 years when the DB9 came out, the level of detail that goes into flatting and polishing for that glass finish is on another level.

Former Aston Martin V8 Vantage owner, the finish on these cars is amazing, you can look at them and feel like you could reach into the paint it was so "deep". I owned a black car, and actually enjoyed/loved cleaning it and keeping it clean due to the finish.
    Well done Gunman!

Hey gunman! Thanks to your top 10 spray gun list, and opinions from some good friends who all used to or are still painters, I picked up a Devilbiss DV1 basecoat gun and an Iwata WS400 SuperNova for clear! Real excited to get to spraying with them! Can't thank you and Tony from Tony's refinishing channel for helping solidify my choices!

Looking amazing so far Gunny and I agree that all cars a different and deserve different levels of finish, most Bentleys are completely reworked after paining with a full flat and polish at the factory so you would do the same if you had to repair and paint it, that just wouldn't happen with a small family hatchback, look forward to the next mate 🙏👍 John UK.

It's a nice sentiment, but in the real world, everyday people who drive everyday cars don't want to pay the thousands of dollars required to allow companies to be profitable while doing 'your best on every car no matter what'.
A $500 a year insurance premium will not cut it unfortunately.
I'm talking 2+hrs polishing one bumper, companies must pay their workers and insurance simply won't cover it, and most people don't even care if there's a tiny nib on the underneath of their bumpers, I certainly don't.

    • @TheGunmanChannel

      A $500,000 supercar is a $500,000 supercar. A $500 Hyundai accent is a $500 Hyundai accent.

@@TheGunmanChannel perfect example why I won't work for anyone else . As the companies profits take away quality 90% of the time and your forced to pump cars out and sacrifice the quality. Your very lucky to work where you do gunny. I gave up looking for a place like that . Traffic to get there and covid stuffed that up . No puns intended mate you have a great channel 👌

If you're asked to mask a car or polish....it shouldn't matter the effort you put forth. At the end of the day it depends on what you are asked to do and/or produce within a given time frame. If you feel good about your work and someone is happy to pay you for it....keep up the good work.

G'day Mate. What brand of clear would you recommend for painting/restoring faded headlights? I'm thinking a HS clear with a reducer to get better UV protection instead of the MS clear but would really like to know what you think from your experience. Thank you.

I own a Porsche GT3 RS and a Aventador and yes it's important how it looks, someone opened there van door into the GT3 which is white.. ended up having to respray the entire RHS of the car to make it all match, I sanded both cars flat and 3 staged them both. Then you see the comments of people saying all cars should be done to the best quality possible. It's just not feasible, you don't need your Hyundai i30 you drive to the shops looking as good as your GT3, nor would most people care.
