I have been waiting for the new line of Penn IV Slammer 5500 for months. Like J&H is carrying them and introducing this model and the 7500 Slammer keep up the great job
Would you recommend the 5500 (or even 4500) for musky fishing, with 80lb braid? I prefer spinning reels to bait caster reels and am looking for something that would work for larger freshwater fishing. Thanks!
I'm also planning to get one for the same reason! I imagine you'd be fine with the 40lbs drag on the 5500! I've done well even with a cheaper Penn Pursuit III combo for Musky and Catfish!

I do like my fathoms and US Senators from penn but feel that penn lags behind in the spinner market. Nevertheless I am very curious about this model.

I just got the DX version and I LOVE it!
Great go-to reel for the surf. The brake feature may be a plus for preventing costly loss of lures.

It has the automatic bail with the friction trip.
First thing I’ll do when I get one is remove the automatic bail trip
