Wow it like Christmas day. Shiny new gear for you and a new video for all of us. I am right there with you on the Penn train. I have been fishing in Florida for more than 30 years and 90% of my reels have been Penn. I have a 30 year old International II's that still sees service on a wreck rig.
I bought a cheap on special Penn rod, the warfare model in 3 to 6 kg and 7 foot and it's one of the best rods i've had. From day one I've increased my hook up rate no end. From catching small Tommies, garfish, whiting etc, to jigging for squid, which i cleaned up with using it the first time (7 in less than 1 hour). it's also been great on good sized salmon as well
Thank You VERY Much for Your gentle touch, "Nice" is the word, I guess. And a REQUEST - an annual vid inventory update of Your Rods, Reels, and Lines - more "One to Rule", pls. Sometimes changes come quickly. As a beginner saltwater shore angler with 60-plus years as a hardcore Rocky Mountain fly fisher, I cannot get enough of Your type of content - well-thot-out & trustworthy from a gentleman. In that lite, perhaps some separate vid with Your lens deep in Your everyday tackle. Regardless, Thanks Again, Rod.
Hey Rod good to see you back on the water with some well deserve equipment to bring in them monsters out there in Australia. To me Penn is the top of the line fishing equipment. I like that 2500 is it small but strong. Stay safe out there Rod and have a blessed day. Aloha from Kansas.
G'day rod. What a legend u are in the craft u teach!! Watching your content has been the drive I needed to get on the water myself. Your knowledge is endless and everything you discuss on your Chanel makes sence to me. Keep up the amazing videos!!
I always enjoy watching you fish those waters, I've seen you catch many mack tuna, although they aren't popular with your family for eating they sure do fight hard, good looking fish too! Just heading into winter here, snow coming soon, looking forward to your summer fishing videos. As always, great video quality and production, thanks and take care.
You could use a ND Filter and Polarizer on that camera. Especially when you are filming into the sun 9:56, 17:37, 33:24 or on sunny or even on cloudy days it gives more contrast and balances out bright light and reflections(great for fishing videos as well). There are adapters, not too expensive, that allow you to clip a ND filter that is also polarized infront of the lense. I can only recommend you to look into that.
Same as me mate. I'm left handed and do everything right handed. Except for writing. And have my reel handles on the right. Working lures is so much easiest with the left .
Please take it easy rod, I’ve followed this channel since under 3k viewers. Please done push that shoulder recovery for us. We will always be here, but your health is more important than views
Hahahaha you’re like me! I’m left handed but I wind with my right because from the first time I picked up a fishing reel, the handle was on the right. I got accustomed to it. I also write with my right hand despite being a lefty lol
Awesome mate you have come such a long way how about fishing some creeks I know you can’t stay on a island if you do but would love to see you mix it up just a tiny bit keep up the great work
Ha, I always do that too, hope the first fish on a new rod was something good. If it was a trash fish it was always disappointing. Went to a private lake this last weekend and caught some big Rainbow Trout. The wooly bugger was the champ of the day.
I've "used" daiwa, shimano abu's okuma's etc etc etc pretty much all of the brands. Penn is the most durable in my experiences. Great company overall they are for the fisherman. That's my general impression I have gotten from using them and using their customer service. I almost exclusively only use Penn now. Customer service HAS to be on par with the product. I have usually got shamed and was told it was user error time and time again from a lot of companies.
I have the 2500 standard slammer with 15 lb braid and it’s notorious for making wind knots. I have Shimanos too and they NEVER have wind knots. I love the concept that Penn has but it does not seem to work. Wish I could make it work. I’ve already removed a lot of line. Help?
Cool stuff man! Said it your “gram” post but you oughtta see what that 2500 can handle! Love my slammer IIIs got Slammer IVs comin, Cheers man! Love the vids as always
Great content brother.. I'm looking at a slammer at the moment as well as the Diawa hq saltist a day I've been dead locked.. I know the mac wasn't the fish you wanted but I saw all I needed to see in the slammer to sway me. Thanks for this 🙏
G’day Rod, great to meet you finally that morning. You definitely had more luck than me but you were a bit further out than me also. Another awesome video thanks heaps. Michael
From start to finish brilliant mate, love the kayak vids just something about it, maybe I'm biased being a yak angler myself 😆 You persuaded me to buy the slammer 111 and what an awesome reel for kayak angling. Great content as always Rod, keep up the good work, much love from England 💪💪💪🎣🎣👍
"Who watched the live stream knows that this braid doesn't break easily." 🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣 I have been looking for a new set up these last days (lost some gear in the surf recently), I have watched at least five slammer IV video reviews... You are the first one to go out there and catch fish with the dam thing.
That mac tuna put a good hurt on that new set up, solid content man. I thought it was a shark because of all the pole bender. But the runs said it all. I know what I'm gonna save up for now.
Hoody Rod, thanks for another great video and review of the new Penn gear. I have a Penn gear user for over 40 years mate and the new 2500 is just what I need for the land base fishing I do, so glad Penn did this new real as I have been in need of a new combo so will rush out and purchase etc. If you can would like your opinion how the 2500 handles squid? Been watching your channel since you started and love your no frills content and great narration, love your cooking too....keep doing your content which offers so much.....take care mate from South Oz. Peace.
Cheers mate, yea as a squid reel it would probably last a lifetime. Would be great for land based as you wouldn’t have to worry about it copping the water and rocks👍
Great content as always rod!! I love watching your adventures. Glad too see you frothing over the new penn gear as well. I was really hoping peen would have made a one piece handle this time round. I find there reels to be great but the two piece handle let’s them down. Keep up the amazing work mate!!
Hey mate, love your videos. I’m really wanting to see your rig/baiting style with the treble hook. Can you pleeease do a quick video explain this? Including leader size? You could do it on frozen bait if you’re worried about people being upset with live bait etc. Would love it if you uploaded this! I’ve also seen you rig your soft plastics differently on the hook too. I think it’d be a great video. Thanks either way I love your videos.
Always enjoy your content whether you’re catching trash or trophies. Great review. I also use a 7’ med veritas inshore. I love the penn reels but the selection of rods never really suited what I was looking for. Stay great mate!
Check out the very reasonable Penn Battalion ll and then the Carnage series. The Battalion has Fuji components including Alconite guides . For the price at $110.00 to $140.00 heck of a deal for the quality. Few offer alconite at this price
I reeely enjoyed this one, good stuff mad dog! A blooming good size Mac tuna, good to see the slammers in action, they sound super smooth like Barry White 🙌🎣 noice flatty too, not sure what he’s doing out there 🤷♂️ must be staying at the reef hotel 🐠
Awesome video! Your unboxing video's are always super fun to watch. I'm super exited for the Slammer IV. I have the Slammer III 7500 and it's such a power horse. We use them for catching 200kg sharks here in South Africa.
You're the first person I've heard of that's the same as me. I write with my left hand but my right is my dominant. I cast both ways and also have the handle on the right. No one seems to understand 😂😂
Morning Skip, any chance you can explain how the sounder works on your next vid (ie; what the info on the screen represents), for us non-fishing fans?!
It’s called a fish finder, it shows the depth of the water and even nearby fish. It has a sonar at the back that creates sonar waves, and when the wave hits something.. fish rocks ect the sonar senses it and puts it onto the screen. The fish finder also shows the paths you have taken on past missions.
I see you found the refuel pack. It’s awesome. Some of mine work for ages while I’ve had a couple simply drop dead after a few trips. Wish they’d make them for the 9,10.
I also write left handed but am right hand dominant! The only thing I do left handed is writing. It's quite odd isn't it, I've never been able to make sense of it lol.
i couldnt use half the reels you use... most my fish are 20+ by far... come to california i will get us out on a charter or we can camp at the island and i will rent a boat each day! lol i just need to pick a tubers brain specially one i watch lol
Great video Rod. I am wondering why you always hope you don't have a Mack Tuna on the end of the line ? From what I read even though the flesh is very bloody, it's delicious.
Thanks!
I'm that confident in the quality of these videos, I'm liking them during the advert at the start.
Wow it like Christmas day. Shiny new gear for you and a new video for all of us.

Love the attitude when you release the fish because your family didnt like to eat mac tuna. Keep make a great video Sir

Goodmorning Sir!! Just woke up 6:48 in the morning. Currently watching here from the Philippines. Stay Safe Sir.
Love your new outfits especially the 2500 reel... I'm a sucker for smaller reels....

Hey Rod great video! I'm a big fan of Penn reels also. Love my Fierce and Sargus 8ooos.

I think these gods are the best! Thanks for the content Rod! Appreciate the effort!
