I own a Penn Battle 3 DX 3000 for back bay Striped Bass and Summer Flounder. Such a great reel and a solid value.

Funny, won't find on eBay. That changed fast. I just bought a Battle III 6000 DX on AliExpress for $119 out the door :)

I've been thinking about getting one of those Slammer IV Reels and seeing this helped. It'll probably be the DX model if I can find one.

Definitely worth the extra 10 bucks on a B3 2500. That being said, I'm not sure it is any better than a Daiwa BG 2500, unless it shows up in longevity. I do own and use both inshore. Both hard to beat for the price point.

The Battle III DX has a coated brass main gear, while the Battle IV DX has brass main and pinion gears. Brass is harder than aluminum, so it wears better over time and is better for anglers who frequently reel in fish while winching in deep water

Can you guys do a video on the sargassum bloom, and how it will impact fishing in the gulf and Atlantic?

Look at the schematics on the penn bat3 2500/3000 and the 2500dx they have the same main gear part number. Looks like they may have cut corners with the 2500dx. The part numbers change at 3000dx. Can you confirm this? I was going to get the 2500dx until i discovered this.

Hate to burst your bubble but speaking as a person very familiar with metal types.....not only are there many grades of stainless steel, but there is a reason you don't find boat winches and such made of stainless steels. The reason being that many types of brass hold up better in salt water environments than most stainless steels....just being " stainless" does not make it better if it is a lesser grade of stainless steel. Many boats use brass, copper/nickle alloys and specifically stay away from stainless steels because they will still rust as they are still carbon steel with different amounts of chromium in them....just look at any boat with stainless fittings and you will see the possible long term effects of saltwater on them. Just room for thought.

Steel on steel is a bad combination for worm gearing. It will get much hotter than steel on brass would. This is a mistake.
