    Thanks for that, my slammer 5000 still like new 4 years on mostly used offshore defiantly salty, opened it up this winter and it was truly like new inside very happy.considering the authority for my retirement when I will fish a massive amount more , from kayak beach and boat, cheers. PS I had a great time in NZ Auckland in the shipyard , got lots of Snapper fishing in, and fished Coromandel, loved the whole NZ thing.

      How often do you maintain the line roller bearing? Mine started making sounds after only 3 months of hard use with heavy lures and jigs...replaced the bearing and now grease the hell out of it once a month with marine grease after adding a drop of oil...

    Good day, what is your take on the Authority after you used it little bit more then a year. Would you say its worth the extra money over the Slammer IV
    I am in the market for a new reel and love the look of the Slammer DX but would rather buy the Authority if it is woth it. Thanks for all the good info

    Would be interested to try the 2500 high speed for softbaiting but other wise I don't think I could justify the price difference when my slammer 3 is still going after about 3 years of kayak fishing with no servicing lol.

      Yeah there are a few new high speed models on the Slammer IV and Authorities that have taken my interest. You're right though, the Slammers have always been a trooper reel, and it's hard to beat them!

      I reckon the only price difference to consider is the one between the authority and the saltiga, stella etc. because it is probably better built than either, is ipx8 fully water proof, and will last forever. We have used 24 spinfisher v series reels on 600 charters over the past 6 years, the only maintenance required has been broken bail arms caused by novice anglers reeling in till the swivel is hard against the tip, then they break the bail arm forcing it to open when line is under pressure. Our personal reels were slammer 3s and we have just upgraded to authority 2500 and 6500 high speed for yellowtail kingfish. All I can say is they are hands down the best spinning reel I have used in 55 years of fishing, 30 of them as a charter capt

    Is the spooling bearing sealed better on the Authority? I’ve heard that the weak spot on slammers is where the line comes back through onto the spool, the bearing isn’t sealed anymore than just being a sealed Bearing with no washers or anything else protecting it from the salt water and it starts to make noise

    Think a 6500hs model would hold against a GT like monster for long term usage ? I wanna keep the weight as close to 650+Gram as possible, though any size above it are definitely capable of but the reel itself just too heavy for my taste.

    • @gpfishingadventures7834
      @gpfishingadventures7834  Год назад

      We don't get GTs over here, so I can't say from experience, but we get big yellowtail kingfish here and they fight pretty damn hard. A 6500HS stands up to those mint, so can only imagine it would for GT too.
