I think I finally understand why this mod just feels so... right. It brings out the best of the original Blue Shift. The original, I felt, was kinda a little boring on the surface. A lot of the same stuff as Half-Life, but with less guns and way shorter. But looking deeper into it, I think Blue Shift is centered around characters. Not a hero in a power suit on a mission to save the world, but a lost man trying to survive. It's about characters and teamwork, and this mod happens to have a lot of character moments, turning generic NPCs into legitimate characters that accompany Barney throughout the story. It's a lot more personal than the grand and heroic adventure of Gordon Freeman, and the soundtrack also just fits perfectly, really gives the vibe of a slick security guard who's determined to protect himself and his friends. So maybe Blue Shift being a lot simpler than Half-Life is the whole point. To be in the shoes of a truly regular guy with a job to do. Awesome stuff, seriously. Can't wait to see how the rest of Blue Shift will be reimagined.
Gotta agree. The original blue shift just felt like I was some hero like Gordon freeman, when in reality, I’m just some regular person named Barney Calhoun trying to get the hell out of the facility.
Seeing the Chinook lowering the LAV, then Barney getting launched from the container with Ospreys flying overhead really hyped up this fight. I was also surprised at how many things could be blown up in that yard hahaha
I’ve been waiting for this track. This is in my top 10 favorites for Black Mesa OST. BM:BS made me realized how annoying LAVs can be. The LAV kept on shooting my darn rockets.
Your music makes this mod so much more enjoyable, it all sounds so immersive and fits into the world of black mesa really well! Makes it a really awesome cinematic experience.
This is actually maybe even the best soundtrack from HECU Collective, even surpassing ASheep. Yet i still think, that the ingame version sounds a bit cleaner. This has a unique vibe, but i think it sounds like "behind the window", opposed to the ingame.
