    This was my first own personal camera that wasn't attached to a phone or anything. I love this handycam. So cheap for what it does. The joystick is actually extremely helpful, especially when filming with gloves. Now I shoot on a Canon SL2, but I have so much respect for this camcorder.

    I own this. I received it for my 20 year anniversary at my job. This year is my 29 year anniversary, and I have yet to use it. It's still in its original packaging. I recently opened up the box, and didn't realize how small it was. I'm kind of interested in using it now, and that's why I'm watching your RUclips video.

      Thanks for sharing and gratz to all the accomplishments. Many of the products companies make get bought and sit. It's sometimes decades later that they are found. Sometimes headed to a collector, sometimes to the landfill. Sometimes, they are opened years later :)

    This camera aged like fine wine. I wanted something that can be a backup for when I’m shooting photography. I wanted something that is dumb easy to use and the micro SD was a critically important feature. 1080 is perfect for me as I’m just after creating memories for my friends and I.

    I bought this a few years back for a cruise, but rarely used it after. My battery charged flawlessly with decent life after it's long hibernation. Don't forget about the secret extra battery compartment that's located flush to the visible compartment. It allows me to charge up my spare and bring it along for a day's worth of shooting. My take on this Camera:
    - You can record while plugged to a charger or powerbank so you can record a 5 hour footage if you have 128 GB SD card.
    - Bad recording for indoors, too noisy but great for outdoors.
    - very light to carry so no sore arms.
    - very low photo resolution of 9.2 M
    - grainy footage but worse in the dark.
    - you can transfer files via the attached usb cable
    - autofocus is slow to react.
    - it has a smile trigger for picture taking

      Bingo! Yes. It's too specific of a thing to make and supply to hospitals, I feel. Being a male of our species makes it hard to help with that issue (learning how to nurse) unless there has been lots of education before hand. I was reaching for anything I could figure out. That chair was strangely comfortable and was only used two times for it's intended purpose, maybe. Tks for the good words :)

    For such an inexpensive camcorder, it's very good. Doesn't seem all that long ago that the top mini cassette camcorder (with not nearly as good image quality as the CX505) would have cost over $1000!

  • @mediathug
    @mediathug 3 года назад +1

    After a week of trying to figure out whether this thing was a POS or a good piece of affordable hardware, you helped me decide to keep it Your footage taken with the CX405 shocked me because I haven't had this result. I'm an "auto settings" type of user, and the footage just looked awful, grainy and noisy. It was the lighting all along; this camcorder needs a LOT of NATURAL light. And using Low Lux doesn't reduce that noise, either. WTF is it even for? LED lighting causes interference, too.

  • @tenterdentown2452
    @tenterdentown2452 3 года назад +6

    This review breezed through at quite a pace! One thing you don't mention that is a serious con is the file format the camera uses needs Sony's application to edit it. Other cameras like the Canon save the file as an MP4 which can be edited by any software. Thanks for uploading.

    • @mediathug
      @mediathug 3 года назад

      Is this so? I just purchased this and am trying to make a decision on it... Please bear with me, I'm desperate! lol...
      I am able to record and put the SD card into my Mac and see MP4 files... So I don't understand your comment about NOT being able to edit the file... BUT on this note, of "formatting"... I can't seem to get recordings that are not noisy and grainy and "washed out" looking. Is this lighting exclusively? Even low lux setting ON doesn't change the overall quality of the output. Is there a best "format" to choose for the best compression, etc? I'm filming a talking head and hands on a piano, indoor... What would you recommend for this? Thanks for reading this! Joe

    In active stabilization mode this camera has better stabilization than any other camcorder at any price that I've ever seen and it also has better stabilization than just about any DSLR I've ever seen in fact the only thing that rivals the stabilization on this really is a late model GoPro or DJI action camera or DJI pocket. Also that multi-port on the right hand side of the camera will accept a remote control so you can zoom the camera without touching the camera it also allows you to turn the camera on and off with a remote and snap pictures

      @@israelking4934 I used it with the AverMedia LiveGamer HD. The video quality was really good for this camcorder. I did a lot of adjustments in the settings of the cam to get a good solution. And at the end the most important thing is good light. The sound.. i don´t know. Didn´t use the mic. I did cut it off in Xsplit. In general it would be better to use a dedicated mic.
      To be honest I don´t use the cam at the moment. So i don´t know if it works with the Elgato Camlink or the Elgato HD60 Pro (I do have now, but with other cams).
      But it would wonder me if not.
      Important Note: All adjustments have to be done in the camera. You can add LUT Files to get a specific color grading. But in Xsplit (don´t know how it is in OBS) I am not able to do adjustments in Xsplit itself. But it worked fine for me that way.

    Hey there I have a question, I have been looking for a good camcorder to fit my needs, but I have not been able to find anything that properly suits my needs, I was wondering if you know about any camcorders which do.
    I'm looking for a camcorder such as this general model, having the camcorder turn on when the screen is flipped open. I would also prefer having the camera screen rotate towards the front. Regarding audio quality, I do want some decent quality, though I would prefer an input for a custom microphone. Finally, and the most important one, exchangeable batteries, battery life is not my concern as long as i can exchange with common batteries, like a set of AA's. And regarding video? Its not really my priority for my uses, but stabilisation is definitely nice. And resolution? 640x480 at the least, with manual video settings.
    Im not sure if this is a far reach or not, but if you know any options ot there, let me know! :)
