As a non American, observing what is happening to America and it's constitution, especially those who should have no doubt as to what is lawful or not, I see nothing but a disgraceful sham.
It is the depth of the coup against our country to have to listen to this BS.
Calling these people Justices is a joke. Justice is the last thing on their mind. They are clearly unelected politicians. A disgrace to the rule of law.

Speaking as an American, I think "disgraceful sham" is something of an understatement.
As an American citizen, I am horrified and disgusted by this. I am likely to only have another 20 years (if that) left in this life and am more concerned about the country my children and grandchildren will live in if this "immunity" claim is granted and the _Republicans_ are able to fully roll out the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025!

That would be the sensible way. Life appointments are a very dangerous idea in any walk of life, particularly in politics. It can lead to all kinds of contentious and disreputable decisions, as we are seeing from the current group of SCOTUS incumbents.

As a History major, i can tell you your founding fathers were inspired by Europe's Enlightenment philosophy:
- "The central doctrines of the Enlightenment were individual liberty and religious tolerance, in opposition to an absolute monarchy and the power of religious authorities."
Philosophers Rousseau and Locke, and your founding fathers, were against absolute power of Leaders ( or Kings )

Instead of suggesting a political rival be assassinated, Justice Sotomayor should have said "a member of the federal judiciary" and see how the other members reacted.
Even if she had suggested members of the federal judiciary to be on Trump's presidential hit list during a second Trump term, those in sympathy with Trump would only be thinking to themselves "we don't have to worry about ourselves being put out on contract by Führer Trump, it's only the lefties among us, including Sotomayer, who need to worry about that."

Sadly they didn't really discuss the direct issue of Jan 6th. Lawrence O'Donnell, had Laurence tribe, law professor, Weissman & Neil Katel. They explained there is a possible chance for judge Roberts to make the ultimate decision. That he can do that if he chose to. That would be the proper thing to do sit in precedent for the future. The Supreme Court truly needs to be so SERIOUS play making this decision! It's really sad that they took so long to address this and may push it back down to a lower court. Yes, another delay. No attempted coup. Reality -- Trump won 2020. The Jan 6 protest rally was infiltrated and hijacked by anti-Trump people, including FBI operatives, who were at the Capitol to help foment a riot,.. a riot which would then be used in an 'Attack on the Capitol' disinformation campaign. It was a set-up, a trap laid. This is the evil we face.

Senator Whitehouse has been exposing their corruption, but no one does anything to them! They are positioned above the law with no oversight authority to hold them accountable. Unbridled power, unlimited gifts and financial benefits for their lifetime is allowed! Shameful! Increase SCOTUS to 13, set term limits and oversight authority, and enforce Ethics and Recusals.
