The amount he improved from The Stage til now may be even more impressive. I should note that I believe Nobody has been complete or at least close for a few years now so he probably has played it a lot but still... just damn that's impressive. A lot of his playing his going to go down as legendary. Really gives me some Allan Holdsworth vibes in this solo. Probably due to the complexity. Holdsworth was a pianist that learned guitar, essentially he played guitar in more of a piano way. The Nobody solo was written to be a violin solo and the band was going to find a youtube violinist to play it, but due to time and the pandemic the band just told Syn to do what he does and rip a nasty solo. He played that violin solo on a guitar and he was pissed with the way it sounded and hated it for a while. All while the rest of the band and everyone that heard it said it was incredible. We'll, considering that this song was probably written 3 years ago and it's his most technical solo (don't even argue about it) I would not be surprised if this was his full skill live, but we will see
Sorry but that story about the violin is bogus. Maybe it has some truth in it, like maybe they really did want a violin solo there at first and then changed their mind or something, but the fact that this particular solo was written for a violin is nonsense. Anyone who knows anything about guitar playing can immediatley see this solo was written by a guitar player as it incorporates many guitar specific techniques, specifically ones common in metal. And anyone who knows anything about playing the violin could tell you that it's VERY unsuited for the istrument. Either the entire sotry is BS or maybe there's a shard of truth to it, but it's definitely not a violin solo played by a guitar player like you said.
