Korean Honey Garlic Chicken - Crispy, Spicy Chicken | ChunsBuns

  • Hello and welcome back to my kitchen!
    This is a recipe for the CRISPIEST crunchiest korean honey garlic chicken, with a serious kick of heat. This was just so tasty and quite easy to make!
    I ate mine with some fried rice and to be honest, I couldn't resist snacking on some of that delicious crispy chicken before it had a chance to be coated by that sticky sauce.
    Ingredients:
    Chicken marinade:
    700g chicken breast
    Salt and white pepper to taste
    1/2 TSP MSG
    3-4 cloves minced garlic
    1 TSP minced ginger
    1 TBSP light soy sauce
    1 TBSP rice wine vinegar
    Batter:
    450g cornstarch
    Salt and white pepper to taste
    1 TSP MSG
    Cold water (I didn't measure, I added according to consistency)
    Approximately 1 cup plain flour (Don't measure, add according to the consistency of the batter)
    Honey garlic sauce: (adjust according to your taste)
    2 entire garlic bulbs
    2 TBSP korean gochujang (this is quite spicy, add more/less according to your spice tolerance)
    3 TBSP soy sauce
    3 TBSP vinegar
    4 TBSP runny honey
    1 TBSP toasted sesame seeds
    1 TSP sesame oil (add after cooking the sauce to prevent cooking out the flavour)
    Garnish with extra sesame seeds and spring onion!

    looks delicious, can I cook them in olive oil instead?

      I wouldn't recommend olive oil for deep frying, it will smoke when heated to the higher temperatures needed to get the chicken crispy!
