Mariah actually said in an interview that she didn't want to sing because she hates it when people are trying to outdo each other. She wanted the kids to sing but Paul McCartney sang in her ear saying, "lemme hear u sing" and so she did.

Pete Townsend, Bob Geldof, George Michael, David Gilmour, Michael Stipe, Annie Lennox, Mariah Carey, and of course... Sir Paul McCartney. ;-)

Paul McCartney asking Mariah Carey to sing was the best part. It gave so much life to it.

The concert finished late and people kept on singing to Hey Jude for a further 10 minutes or so as they left the park..... amazing to see U2, The Who, Pink Floyd, George Michael, Madonna and Paul McCartney at one event ......

I am shocked at Mariah Carey's ability to improvise melismas. A vocal legend.

Paul McCartney has never recovered from the loss of his lovely wife Linda. His pain has been obvious . Bless his soul.

How many thousands of times has he played Long and Winding Road in front of a crowd? And it still comes out fresh and earnest. That's so rare.

When my brother in law passed, Long and Winding Road was one of the songs he wanted played. I think of Rob every time I hear it. He was a Beatles super fan! RIP Rob!
