And Netflix is in on the up and up because they have been producing a ton of really great ones lately. Crash Landing on You and Itaewon Class were so good.
At times I feel like Kdramas are repetitive especially when it’s about romance...one drama can mention how the potential couple knew each other from childhood now other romance kdramas will use that same plot idea...it gets boring. To me, I think some kdramas about romance is too repetitive, cliche, unrealistic, and at times childish....there is always a love triangle and it’s annoying lol...plus a cold/mean male lead and a childish female lead. But this is all just my opinion. I prefer thriller than romance when it comes to kdramas.

My big fat greek wedding has to be one of my all time favorite rom-coms. It's got such a nostalgic feel for me, takes me back to when I was little watching it with my family.
It's such a good look into intercultural marriages as well. The internal clash between fitting in as an American and not abandoning your roots was so relatable.
i’m down to watch rom coms even if the plot has been a million times before with actual diverse casting. like can we have interracial relationships where one isnt white?
I think theres one about a Korean guy and an African American girl...for the name but the actor was the eldest daughter from blackish.... hope this helps ❤️
Look at Lovebirds. Not only diverse casting but in almost all ways different from the standard romcom yet still leaves you with the the feeling you want from a romcom.
Yea but I sure hope they weren’t doing anything sexual. Mila was 14 when she started it that role. Ashton was already in his 20s, he has even admitted to feeling awkward about kissing her back then due to her being a literal child.

Watch some old but gold films and foreign films can be equally as engaging. Once you enjoy subtitles and Google translate becomes your bff, the film world is your oyster. Don't let the absolute lack of any flavor or originality in mainstream film keep you from enjoying media 😂.
I for the most part don’t watch romcoms but you should def watch “What if” with Danielle Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan and Adam driver. Super underrated, has a great script and a good soundtrack too
Here's a romance comedy pitch: It's called Recipe For Love Two successful chefs in New Orleans compete to have best restaurant in the city, drop the fight, become friends, then fall in love. Preferably starring Trevante Rhodes and a dark skin female actress. It's giving enemies to friends to lovers. Also, this is my idea. I am a film/ creative writing major so give me some time to write the novel and create the film.
I grew up watching the classic romances from the 1940s-1990s and I adore them to no end. It's pure comfort, a fairy tale world where anything is possible, and I can't imagine being happy without them.
I Love You, Man is so underrated. You've got Rashida Jones, a Vampire Weekend song on the soundtrack, the hottie that is Paul Rudd, and the comedic monolith that is Jason Segal. Just fantastic
My favorite is "Notting Hill". The way Julia Roberts' and Hugh Grant's characters meet and get together is quite unrealistic, but in a perfect Cinderella-like way. However, the central relationship is sweet and genuine, and it feels so real. A very significant scene is when Roberts' character Anna comes to find safety from the tabloids at William's house after there have been nude photos of her leaked. Back when the film was made and until very recently it was mainstream for actresses to be slut shamed and bullied by the press without any consequences for those who took advantage of them. The way William listens to her and shows that he cares for her at a very critical time is wonderful to see. It's very different from a movie like "How to lose a guy in 10 days" where both main characters are just terrible people.
I honestly think love, simon restarted the romcom craze. It was so wildly successful by just realistically updating the classic formula. I think some of the newer romcoms struggle to build a character who exists outside of their relationship (and who you also want to root for) without dragging down the runtime. The appeal of romcoms is getting the warm fuzzies every time; the simpler the story is (and the better the writing) the more time the viewer gets to connect with the character and feel the same highs and lows they do. If we break it down, the plot of love simon is "main character tries to find themselves and love" aka every romcom ever. Because it works when it's done well.
Yes! I love that show so so much. Even though it was short, they did such a good job of letting you get to know all the characters and it made me feel so warm and cosy.

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days is one of the best romantic comedies of all time and that is the hill I will die on. ALWAYS makes me laugh. 🤣
Hard facts
That “Ghosted” movie is definitely going to be a Netflix original soon 😂. Make sure to get that concept copyrighted Nathan lol
How to Steal a Million (1966) with Audrey Hepburn and Peter Otoole is definitely one I recommend if you like classics.
Nathan using all of Tyler the Creator feature tracks is fcking amazing
as yes, another classic. GET THIS MAN IN A WRITING ROOM
My favorite romcom and the best of the “it was all a bet” subcategory: She’s all That
I love how these videos are just like a celebration of liking things
I for the most part don’t watch romcoms but you should def watch “What if” with Danielle Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan and Adam driver. Super underrated, has a great script and a good soundtrack too
Here's a romance comedy pitch:
It's called Recipe For Love
Two successful chefs in New Orleans compete to have best restaurant in the city, drop the fight, become friends, then fall in love.
Preferably starring Trevante Rhodes and a dark skin female actress.
It's giving enemies to friends to lovers.
Also, this is my idea. I am a film/ creative writing major so give me some time to write the novel and create the film.
She’s the man will always be my favourite
Loved it, great as always
Hey, I know you!
@@rorylennon4043 I'm sorry I think you've mistaken me for someone else
@@mrsundaymovies red hot comic book movie news is certainly coming out of my butthole today
u a goat
Is that s new pfp?
Covid really has us bringing back feel good films
I grew up watching the classic romances from the 1940s-1990s and I adore them to no end. It's pure comfort, a fairy tale world where anything is possible, and I can't imagine being happy without them.
I LOVE when Harry met Sally. It feels realistic and hopeful at the same time, I love it
500 Days of Summer will always be my favorite rom com period. It really opened my eyes
Using Tyler for background music is what takes these videos from classics to full-on masterpieces
I’ve never seen this video. I loved it. Thank you Scott Cramer.
I was about to burn down the comments on behalf of Nick Miller for a second there but it turns out you’re a man of culture
I think everyone’s favorite rom com isn’t just the movie itself, but the memories you have watching it and which character you can see yourself in.
God damn Nathan how can it be 2 seconds in and it is a classic ALREADY.
I liked how you mentioned The Big Sick, it's one of the few rom-coms that I have enjoyed in recent years.
Some of my favourites: 50 first dates, the wedding planner, serendipity, the princess diaries, chasing liberty, last christmas, crazy rich Asians.
I think love life with Anna Kendrick is such a good show to fill the lack of rom com movie shaped hole in people’s lives trust me
Yes! I love that show so so much. Even though it was short, they did such a good job of letting you get to know all the characters and it made me feel so warm and cosy.
yess! also the attention to small details like technology over time was so cool
I agree!! Surprised by how much I loved it!
The ghost thing has kinda been done. The guy who ghosts so many girls they haunt him: Ghosts of girlfriends past
The editing. The music. The movie clips. You’ve outdone yourself mr. Zed.. love to see it
i actually LOL'd when you spoke about friends with benefits and no strings attached 🤣 that really was the end of rom-coms😭
