I relate to that comment and video on a whole new level. Man, people used to warn me about Junior year in High School. I didn't listen, I thought it was another stupid myth about High School. The struggle is real fellow junior. The struggle is real.
i'm a senior in college and had the same mentality in high school. college is awesome although i wish i had tried to enjoy the time i had in high school more.
"would you rather have a song that's number one and then never talked about again or a song that never hits number one ever but is listen to for like 50 years" I thought about somebody that I use to know
ah see, but even somebody i used to know impacted some people. well. it impacted me. i'm a gotye fan for life now. i really appreciate everything that man does as a musician and person. he's one of those rare people that not only knows what he loves and is good at it, but does a lot to give back to this community (of electronic music) that has given him so much, going so far as to find, purchase, and restore a rare french instrument that was invented back in the 40's (an ondioline) and performing a concert with them- music that hadn't been performed live on those instruments in decades. even if he's only ever known for that one pop hit, i think he's okay with that. the work he does outside of solo work shows that he's not very concerned with fame or momentum. he tours as a drummer in a band called the basics, that do very well in austrailia, and he works on side projects out of the limelight, and i think he's genuinely happy with that
It's so important to define success as something that isn't defined by external validation & actually makes you happy or you'll never ever reach said success! I'm so glad to have figured this out in my 20s, I think I'll be a much happier person for it.
Dude, your videos are so refreshing to find on my RUclips feed. You’re always giving real advice without sounding pretentious/condescending. Your videos are definitely making an impact on whoever is lucky enough to find them. 💙💙💙
Your comedic timing and editing are phenomenal Mr. Zed sir. Also very good message, good to hear from you again, keep doing what you're doing! Peace be with you!
Good luck from what I hear being a musician is hard just remember that you’re one of the few willing to take those steps to put your work out there, that’s an achievement in of itself. Good luck!
From the beginning, the quality of your content has always exceeded youtubers with bigger fanbases or bigger budgets. And that is something special. Can't wait to see you hit 1M and beyond.
Beyonce's Halo peaked at number 5 but 11years after its release, its got more views than Single Ladies (peaked at number 1) on RUclips. Only thing to take from that is that we should aim for longevity
Listen, you made that impact, at least to me, now I am the girl who listens to your song over and over at the bus. Literally this inspired me, I really needed hear this explained this way and I truly think that it shifted my mindset. Probably it would be days that I will feel bad to not have the recognition that I expect and in that moments I will go back to this video. Thank you so much🙌🏾✨💙💚
Man, thanks for these kind words of encouragement I really needed that, since I doubt allot on myself and my art. I'm gonna release all of my art, be proud and move on to the next thing :))))
This is great man. Spoke to me about my art, the fact that I became views obsessed. Wasn't making it to be proud of my own but for others to marvel at.
I'm really glad, because it would've been so easy to just tell Bieber to grow up and stop being such a crybaby, but you went with a very mature and in-depth response that did not seek to tear Bieber down, but to merely talk some sense into him.
These types of videos have always been my favourite from you - they're funny but real and always manage to be applicable to everyone's lives in some way or another. I always leave these videos with a fresh perspective on something and that's incredibly valuable imo so thank you. Okay that's enough sentimentality for today
this was a good video for artists in general just to let you know :D it feels like a punch in the stomach when you work really hard on a piece and it doesn't get the attention you hoped it would get. but yknow, your opinion about your art is the most important, and you just gotta keep hustling and hope others feel the same way you do about your next one.
I’ve been watching you since I was in high school and I’m almost 2 years out of college now. It’s been awesome growing up with you and I enjoy your new stuff better than ever, can’t wait to see what’s next 😊
THE SMILEY FRIES ARE SENDING ME I HAVENT LAUGHED THAT HARD IN WEEKS Also, this video was incredibly inspirational for someone wanting to make music. This... really put it into perspective. Thank you
Video's still relevant- man's speaking straight factz. Doesn't matter if this video didn't perform as well as some of your others as you said, because this one has a positive impact on more of the people that did watch it!
Many musicians have contract bonuses. For example, they get paid extra, if the record is number one on billboard, goes platinum, etc. That’s why they (and their labels) want to get these numbers
I was legit stressing abt what I wanted to do in life and how to accomplish my super high standards of goals all week, and ur vid came in when I unexpectedly needed it most I legit just went “oh yeah being remembered sounds better than being the best. Nvm.”
I found it funny that Justin was trying to make it a tiktok song. Like it’s one of the reasons why “the box” became so big because of tiktok but it came organically.
The problem is, you can expect this behavior from people tryna blow up. They're just trying to blow. But when you're arguably the biggest artist in the world... wyd?
Bruh same. I was trying to push myself to graduate college a semester early but I couldn’t handle 20 credit hours so I’m still in school until May, and I’ve been feeling like a failure since then. But like...that shit really spoke to me so I’m gonna try to slow down from now on
This reminds me of when I was the age Nathan is now, I was in such a rush to 'start my life' that I didn't think I had any time left to do further education. 5 years later, I realised that even though I was in such a rush, I hadn't actually accomplished anything. So I signed myself up to another 6 years of education so I can pursue my dreams, slowly. I'm so happy I did. Life doesn't end at 25! Or 30! Or 40!!! There's plenty of time! Enjoy your life and enjoy the moment, do what your heart tells you because it will always lead you in the right direction.
A cat with bread on its head I feel that. When i was 15 I had so much anxiety about my future and i felt like if I didn’t go to uni straight after school my life would fall apart. I’m 21 now and still working not in University and I’m so grateful circumstances stopped me from doing my course because 6 years later I have very different career paths in mind. Not everything happens for a reason, but we can find good reasons in everything. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
It legit baffles me you never had reached 1 mil before, you are an ancient legend in the yt game yet you just reached 500k. You deserve all the love you get Nathan. Thanks for helping me so many times and making us all laugh.
agreed man, but honestly to me (a fan) i wouldn't like him any more or any less if he were at 1mil subscribers or where he is now. i think that's part of the message he was getting at. his vids are still great to me and the sub count won't necessarily make them any better or worse
Nathan preaching and it ain’t even Sunday
🙌
The only preaching I’m for ❤️
i mean his old channel was called TheThirdPew for a reason
nathan always preaching
Tell em Nathan
Honestly as a junior in highschool that wants nothing more than to graduate and get it over with, this video hit different.
I relate to that comment and video on a whole new level. Man, people used to warn me about Junior year in High School. I didn't listen, I thought it was another stupid myth about High School. The struggle is real fellow junior. The struggle is real.
funny bunny I felt the same way through most of high school and now I’m in college and it feels like it’s happening all over again.
I’m a junior too, i get what you mean like rn it feels like I can’t slip up at all especially with all my dream colleges watching:(
i'm a senior in college and had the same mentality in high school. college is awesome although i wish i had tried to enjoy the time i had in high school more.
@@reginaa.4760 its okay to feel like that, just don't forget to remind yourself to make the most of the experiences you have
"would you rather have a song that's number one and then never talked about again or a song that never hits number one ever but is listen to for like 50 years"
I thought about somebody that I use to know
Did that song never hit number one? Cuz it's one of the most unique and interesting pop songs to hit the Top Charts in the last decade
ah see, but even somebody i used to know impacted some people. well. it impacted me. i'm a gotye fan for life now. i really appreciate everything that man does as a musician and person. he's one of those rare people that not only knows what he loves and is good at it, but does a lot to give back to this community (of electronic music) that has given him so much, going so far as to find, purchase, and restore a rare french instrument that was invented back in the 40's (an ondioline) and performing a concert with them- music that hadn't been performed live on those instruments in decades. even if he's only ever known for that one pop hit, i think he's okay with that. the work he does outside of solo work shows that he's not very concerned with fame or momentum. he tours as a drummer in a band called the basics, that do very well in austrailia, and he works on side projects out of the limelight, and i think he's genuinely happy with that
I thought about DOAB
Bad example
i thought about don't stop me now, which peaked at 86 on the billboard charts (fun fact)

Dude, your videos are so refreshing to find on my RUclips feed. You’re always giving real advice without sounding pretentious/condescending. Your videos are definitely making an impact on whoever is lucky enough to find them. 💙💙💙

There isn’t any #1. There is always someone who can do or be better than you.

The way he starts to laugh after that line got me good
What are you trying to say. It’s sounds racist asf
@@HAZEo4 it is racist but you can be racist to whites and not be called out.. rather, you’ll be celebrated. One of many double standards today.
Your comedic timing and editing are phenomenal Mr. Zed sir. Also very good message, good to hear from you again, keep doing what you're doing! Peace be with you!

Flow bananas here, peele this back
My first album sold one copy. My second album has sold two copies. At this rate... Idk man. But I'll stay humble and keep making music.
Good luck from what I hear being a musician is hard just remember that you’re one of the few willing to take those steps to put your work out there, that’s an achievement in of itself. Good luck!
