Just grab an Ulanzi fan or a chinese fan from aliexpress, i live at extreme hot weather of 100+f and im getting over an hour of 4k60 with the 67 with an aliexpress camera fan. Ordered an Ulanzi fan as well. Havent had any overheating issues in 5 shootings of about 6-8 hours of product video at 24 and 60p and talking heads of about 20+ minutes at 24p.

I think the use for video for this camera is short bursts at 4K 120 and 5-10min clips of 4K60 4:2:2 10bit which I think is great for short form content creators or projects where there will be a lot of footage stitched together. I definitely wouldn't risk this as being the main "A Camera" at a Wedding/high level professional gig when the A7IV is still a proven workhorse and has tons of redundancies built in. I mainly got the a6700 for its compact form factor and travel friendly size and I mainly shoot short form content for myself and my GF's IG/TikTok. I'll wait to see how the A7CII does once more folks get their hands on it and if I do want to enter into longer form recording should I invest the money into a FX30.

Very honest video with good points about the use scenarios. I've just got mine and it overheated after some 35 mins of shooting video out to HDMI and into an Atem Mini Pro- but I've also enabled the Auto Framing. Then I upgraded (without doing the factory reset as advised in one of the comments), got additional 12mins. The livestreaming video with this function is the main reason I bought the A6700. I know I'd loved it to do an hour of this, maybe 70 mins, and I'd be in heaven. I've ordered the Ulanzi fan also mentioned in the comments, so I'll see. I'm based in Sweden and we have a 30 days returning frame without problems. Use it, test it and send it back, grateful. So I'll do my testing when the Ulanzi comes…

    • @HomesickMac
      @HomesickMac 9 месяцев назад +1

@@AngeloDau Yeah, I've got it, but it wasn't always necessary because the camera wouldn't overheat. I've disengaged the Autoframing so it obciously gave some extra time before getting problematic. In one case I've secured a 2,5 hour livestream by having the fan in the middle position. It's not really quiet, spinning things give sound haha, but my camerais about a meter away and I have microphones on the boom arm and quite close to me. At the same time I'd be careful if I'd have to use the fan with a camera mounted microphone for maybe vlogging scenarios, I don't know..

My view on a6700 and that whole 6000 series after my a6300 proved to be terrible with overheating is this... i feel like this series is really well suited for invested in sony lenses etc and cameras. So if im shooting with $4,000 plus of anna7iv and gmaster lens, and want to take a smaller lighter body for travel, or a smaller shoot. Or as b cam to a small shoot... this is a great way to save vs buying 2 a7ivs. If im on a budget and aiming for a sony a7 series, this is a great starter to get into the ecosystem.
No one, should expect a $1,300 camera to equally perform with a much more expensive pro camera.
I bought the a6700 as a travel camera and light duty camera capable of great results.
My work horse for video currently inba fuji xh2... and that beast has never overheated on me, even shooting 8k internal pro res, for commercials and corporate training videos. But the fuji xh2 at $2,000 for a body alone, is kinda in a class by itself. Even when i shoot with the a7iv (which i love), i keep thinking... why cant it export 6k lol when xh2 exports 8k pro res for less money. But i love the sony system and cameras. Anyway... just saying people should really judge the a6700 against other like priced cameras not professional cameras. A6000 series is capable of professional results 100% but not a camera I'd try to run for a full wedding, or long runtime interview etc. Doesn't mean its bad. It would probably have a pricetag of $2,000 to have what everyone seems to want from it.

The a6700 is a hot potato. It becomes very hot and it’s very uncomfortable (not in winter), and yes I set up the temperature settings to high. Also the battery life is significantly lower than the a6600, and you don't even notice the 2 extra megapixels or the AI autofocus because in the a6600 is good enough. I think that if you do photography get the a6600 and if you do video get the Fx30. This combo is the best. The a6700 is a 26 megapixels lava stone with IBIS and insect detection. Thanks for your video.

@@armorabskrabs1 I have not tested it for version 1.01 but for 1.00 I got 42 minutes before it overheated. I think any camera with the AI and other chip is going to run warmer even with a fan. I would like to see Sony put it in the fx30. However like many of us have said, no one is going to film a wedding in 4k 60 10bit. If you need the best quality you would run at XAVC S I 4K which will not overheat at 60p because no compression is done in this format. I will require a extra large SD card and will cost a bit of money, but as the street racers say “you got to pay the cost to be the boss”

I think you should stop this diss-ing of the a6700 guys. There are different cameras for different use cases. Why do you want that any camera out there be up to the job that you want and if it cant then you conclude its a bad camera and start preaching. This is not wise guys. The a6700 is not made for wedding, concert or industrial shooters. APSC cameras are made for light work, travel, non commercial, etc if u like. You cant have a smaller body size and pack all the tech and fans and everythng, its just a big NO. It is for users who go light, happen to shoot both p&v and for non commercial you dont shoot for hours. Dont buy a toyota rav4 which is made for town commute and complain that its not a good car because it doesnt carry your construction rebars and cement. You just seem not to understand your needs first. What manufacturer does that? why ddnt you buy the a7r-iv, a7r-5, a7iv, fx6 etc? those are made for what you are looking for. Please stop this. I am a proud owner of the a6700, am not commercial, I am a traveller and it has never let me down. Infact it is one of the best cameras I have ever had.

some super valid points aman, it's just too bad I had to buy the camera from Sony to find out how bad the overheating was. It would be nice if on the box it said the overheating shut off times in 4k based on a set temperature. I think it's up to the manufacturer to do the testing not the user. It shouldn't be a guessing game, there should be more transparency. tbh I love everything else about this camera and you make a good point that it serves it's purpose for certain people. thanks for your well thought out comment!

However, obviously, they don't really care what the consumer has to suffer if they want to get the "latest and so-called greatest" camera releases. Panasonic-Lumix appear to be taking a much more proactive attitude. Sony knows they have great lens selection & a great AF (auto focus). Those two are great IF THE CAMERA works all the time. Otherwise, not so great & u and others have proven the Sony a6700 is a tech disaster. I feel sorry for the engineers who must have tried to warn the marketing guys at Sony. Makes one really wonder what is going on in Japan Inc, In the USA we have a Vehicle Lemon Law. Sounds like it's time for a Camera OVERHEATING LEMON LAW! 😎😎

yeah was fairly cold in here and still not great results, might have to try a fan on the back of it.

@@MattyDCCollinsTo hear that, you might have to bubble-gum & wire your own fan on the back of it. Sony should just give u and all the others who have similar experiences with the Sony a6700 total refunds. No questions asked. After all, the Orient used to have "Saving Face Policy." Check in on that insurance policy of theirs & see if that's still valid in 2023! 😎😎

Strange, there are a couple of videos already with 1.01 firmware fixing the overheating

16 degree weather and this thing still overheats after such short record times? Yes this is a completely useless video camera, but who the hell would buy a $1400 camera just to take photos? In other words, this camera is useless and nobody should buy it.

It had so much promise for me, I love most things about it but the overheating was a deal breaker :(

@@MattyDCCollins After watching this video, I've seen a Ulanzi fan being sold that actually helps with the overheating issues, it costs $40. All things considered, if the overheating issues could be resolved, as seems to be the case with the fan, then this camera may be an even better buy than the FX30.

Like the ulanzi one? I heard not the best things about that one. Do you have any recommendations other than that one?

You are a pro and you are getting paid to do a job. Go buy another a74 and stop trying to cheap out. I mean would you use a ZV-E10 for a pro job? I hope not. Why would you set your B cam to run at 60p or 120p for an hour. If that is what you need get the fx30 and stick a monitor on it because that is pro gear. If you showed up at my wedding with an a6xxx camera I would be worried.

nah i'd just run it at 24fps 4k but overheating tests outdoors still shutoff at around 22 mins on youtube in hotter climates, just too cold here to test. Another A7IV is for sure the play I think.

My a7iv overheated during a wedding in the sun after 20ish minutes @ 4k24p. My a7siii has been flawless though. the thing is the a7iv & 6700 dont use pixel binned 4k like the a7siii, a7rv and a1. The a7iv & 6700 uses higher quality non-pixel binned oversampled 4k, but produces more heat and needs more processing power. This is why the fx30 uses a fan, and the panasonic s5 mkii, both use non-pixel binned 4k

I agree. All these youtubers trying to make money of a hobby camera instead of spending another $1k and getting proper equipment. Its a shame because this camera is intended for hobbyiest. Also how much 4k60p video are you shooting at a wedding? If you are shooting 4k24p then the camera runs for hours (yes I have gotten over 2 hours when I put usb-c power to this camera). These types of "fright" videos make average people spend more money for no reason.
