For everyone confused by the shift key mentioned @ 1:25: - If you're using Minilab MkII, make sure you are pressing Shift key located on your Minilab, and not the Shift key on your computer keyboard. Then follow OP's instructions. - If you're using Keylab Essential, there is a different procedure. Instead of pressing and holding Shift (which doesn't exist on the device), you have to press "Map Select" button once without holding it. It is located on the left side of your Keylab device, above the first key. Once pressed, it should light up. With "Map Select" on, press Pad #2 marked as "DAW". It should light up. Once done, press "Map Select" again to confirm your changes.
This was SO helpful. I have not found this information anywhere else and spent a year thinking that the pads on my MKII were just never going to do anything for me. THANK YOU.

Had the same problem, but I think it just fixed itself as of five minutes ago. I was wondering the same thing. 16 nor the pads were doing what they should have. I ended up going into the midi control center and out of the blue there was a new firmware update. My mk2 upgraded to firmware version 1.0.9. It solved everything. The encoders and pads work as they should now.

@@MrVahe yeah, i read manual from arturia's web site, but that manual just about mechanical work with MCC. We can make different templates and the question is "why it doesn't work in analog lab, ableton etc.?" For example, i assignr 2nd knob like "brightness" and i can't hear any changes in sound of my vst when i twist it.

There is a better way to arm tracks than by using the pads. You can use a option.txt file to enable arm on selection then you can use the regular knob 8 function of scrolling through tracks to arm them. To anyone intesrested soundsandgear has a tutorial on how to do this, just search for "ableton arm on selection" and his video should be the first result
03:13 I understand that the track is playing when it turns green but how to I stop it ? Like when I'm in a live session, I want to pay the track at certain time and then how to I stop the exact track at time without stopping the whole song ?
I just deactivate the track and then turn it back on when I need it. You can deactivate by pressing 0(zero). I think there may be a simpler way but then such is life.

@@reiniss9374 You can upgrade the firmware in the midi control center. I had exactly the same problem: Knob 8 (horizontal colums) worked fine, knob 16 (vertical) didn't do anything. Just upgraded the firmware and everything's fine now.
Still doesn't recognize analog lab in ableton lite, I can select a MIDI track itself, without installing a pack, and it sees the key presses when I record, but if I go to add the instrument pack, because I don't see one for the MiniLab, and it doesn't produce sound, nor does it record the sound or the key presses on the track, I'm so lost, and it's really depressing me.
I ran into the same issue ... sort of. I think he's using a USB Midi Host-like a Kenton or a Midiplus. Plus, he might also have that connected to a USB Audio Interface-with Midi cables connecting the two devices to each other. EXAMPLE: The MKII Mini Lab Midi controller keyboard might be connected to a USB Midi Host which is connected (with Midi cables) to a USB Audio Interface which is connected to the PC by way of USB. I've been wracking my brain for the past two days just trying to figure out how exactly do people using a Midi controller keyboard get their keyboard to play the sounds from AnalogLab into Ableton Live aaaaand RECORD IT!!! I get HOW to control Ableton Live with the MKII Mini Lab Midi Keyboard controller. Have you found a way to control/play the master channels(1-8) and also control the record buttons through mapping to play a midi instrument? I'm having a hard time figuring that out with one shift option with this keyboard.
Hey man awesome vid. I followed everyone one of your steps but for some reason i cant luanch clips with the pads on the Mk2. The pads dont even light up to indicate that there is an active clip. Any idea why?
Im kinda new to all this, but when I create a loop and play it back, why do i get a gap at the end of each sequence before it loops again? I just want continuous sound with no gaps.
@leeg8828 hey man! I have the same problem. I don't understand why whenever i record loop, after i press pad to stop, there's always a gap. I searched on solutions but what I found are manual fixes to adjust the loop length. I find it tedious and couldn't imagine doing it during live performances. Were you able to figure this out?

Or should I move to another empty slot and press the pad? That makes no sense to me. Is there any way to start/stop the slot without moving to an empty slot?
Del Rei Rock you have to press the pad on an empty slot. Or you could have a look in the midi control centre if the trigger option will help with this.

Edwin Lopera I think you could midi learn to one of the pads and that might work. But if you do that, just use another shift+pad2 for example

@@joseviyella6610 hey man. You can "Shift+empty pad" and learn midi to the stop all button in Ableton live and assign to any pad. Simple as that :)

When I try to download the midi control center, it gives me a .led file, and I don't know how to install it... any help?
The led is just an update file. You need to download the control center if I remember right, then from there update using this led.
