My motivation for learning a new language: to be able to angrily mutter in french and confuse people
Haha, what a funny reason🤣
My reason would be to talk to somebody in that language and act confused when they don't understand.

Just so everyone knows wanting to learn Japanese doesn't make you a weaboo or wanting to learn Korean doesn't make you a koreaboo. Their is nothing wrong with wanting to learn a new language

Thank you please tell my siblings that because I’m learning both and I like anime and listen to kpop but I don’t really want to go to Japan or Korea i learn it because I want to understand it and just in case I ever meet someone who speaks that language I can community with them and also I feel like its good to be multilingual for what I want to be when I get older
Thank you!!!
People always call people who are not Japanese/Korean but yet know the language “weeaboos or koreaboo” it’s honestly annoying. I mean I know French, does that make me a frenchboo? Is frenchboo a thing now? I know Spanish you gonna call me a Spanishboo?? Oooof it triggers me.
I just want to learn multiple languages and learn about different cultures! There is nothing wrong with that.
Where were you when i got teased for being a weeaboo?

A little tip for those who dont know anyone who can speak thelanguage they're learning:
Try drawing a conversation between two people and putting phrases in whatever language you're learning. Or if you arent really that good at drawing, you can write down just a simple story, ex:
Alexa was walking down the street when she saw her friend, Morris. She came up to him and said "Hi", Morris smiled and greeted her back.
I hope this helps c:

You could even just learn how to say that phrase and troll them. However is way funnier your way.
Funny part you can do with a foreign language:
I’ve never done this but if you don’t want to talk to someone speak with a language hard to learn where you live
Fun fact: I natively speak English but I learned the word “eventually” when I was eight just by hearing it’s context. This is your reminder to learn a language and grasp some things by context!
In my native language I know the word, but when I was 16 my mother told me this is not how we say it. Because in my 16 years I never saw it on a paper or I never write it down and ppl said it fast and rarely, I never assumed I was wrong. She laughed a ton after I misspoke the word. It is because I had a beef w/ another word when I was young and mother said x word (I had a beef with) root word's I use doesn't exist(when we take apart a word it's "root" or 1st part of the word came from an another word, what is already existing), so when I heard the gossip word in my language I assumed it's word root has to be an already existing word (bear what I thought to be the "root") , boy I was wrong. I have no idea what it's mean if I take apart the gossip word) To be fair gossip is not to accurate for it, but I couldn't find a better one. So till this day I say it purposely wrong, because I like it when a bear talks to me. 😅

Don't watch the subs in your native language, put it for example Swedish dub with Swedish subs. It's proven that having your language in subs has 0% in proven compared to 7-17% improvement from having their language in subs.
Taokuoh are you sure about this information? because i, myself find that pretty hard to follow what they’re saying without a subs i can stand to.. but if it’s that affective i would give it a shot :)
@@nalanazi9866 Yeah there's a few studies on it, I can try and find the links but basically if you read your language (English) with say a Korean dub. You won't take in anything Korean because you aren't listening to the language, your brain is focusing too much on your own language that the brain is comfortable with. Where as if you read Korean and have a Korean dub, you hear how the words are pronounced, and you understand how to write or spell the characters. I recommend to spend a few weeks or so on a platform like DuoLingo just to pick up a few words in a language you wish to learn. Once you know a few, you begin to recognise the sound and characters on screen, from my personal experience I think using something like DuoLingo and then watching a Korean dub/sub film or tv show. I was able to recognise some of the words, even though I still lacked the vocabulary, I was pleased to see that I could actually recognise a few words. It's importance of dub/subs with the language is so it sticks in your brain, without having to spend too much time working out what has just been said. :)

Number 3 was the one I relied on the most as a beginner. Watching videos, listening to music, etc.. make you get familiar with the language.
I watched a lot of anime before I started learning Japanese. After a year I started to study, it was so easy to learn, and I even recognised some words and phrases from anime. I got to know what’s formal and what’s informal through studying. What’s used and what’s hardly used, and when to use. And cause I kept mimicking the language when watching anime and listening to music (cause I was like 15) it wasn’t that hard to speak it
When I tried Korean, even though ppl said the alphabet was way easy, I found it extremely hard. Cause I wasn’t familiar with Korean like I was with Japanese
You're definitely not wasting your time doing these videos..happy you posted..I will now continue on my French journey with more confidence ..Merci beaucoup😉

As someone who grew up speaking English and now is fluent in french as well, I think the biggest tip I can give you is surround yourself with as much of that language as possible. Because everyone around me was speaking English, I tried to listen to French music, watch French shows (you’d be surprised at how soon you won’t need the subtitles), watch French RUclips, read French books, etc. Once you can understand the language you can work on pronunciation and just kind of learn to speak it. I take French in school still because although I can speak it in not too good with spelling and everything like that.
all of your tips were really good. I loved how you gave instructions for people that just start learning as well as people who already have experience with the language. most people say "read, write, watch movies" and not really give instructions for people who might not know the language good enough to do these things

@@kyliejenner6059 Both! I'm pretty sure it's written gray in America (maybe some other countries too) but in England, Australia (where i'm from) and some other countries it's written grey. Either way it's pronounced the same, means the same thing and anyone who you speak to should know what you mean if you spell it either way :)

Sarah Jean very umm noble
Me: Korean fonts. More cuter than Japanese and sometimes western and other Asian rather than CJK region fonts. Very hard to search without enough knowledge about Korean language. Korean culture is very strict, every best thing is advertised by mouth to mouth (including what product shown in Korean shows and who know behind the censor/tape they will tell it to the closest people) not standard advertising methods.
Me too, that’s what everyone thinks but it’s not only because of that. Besides, learning a language is fun 넌 할 수있어!

Try italki.com you can speak one time or many, find a tutor, and more.
It's hard to communicate especially when you're inventive, but having a friend who speaks or know the language you're learning is good!
As for communication skills I learn whole sentences saying them aloud. 5 days - 300 repetitions per day at least. Later I don't need to translate. I know the meaning of words straight away like in my native language. And also I remember the meaning longer than by learning separate words. This method is called: chunking. It was a real game changer in my learning process in English and other languages.😊
Below some details what I do::: I try to repeat a sentence until I can say it without hesitation or mistakes. During practice I say it realy slow at the beginning. Later alternating speed either extremely fast or slow. I don't have any set amount of reps. Just drilling until being confident. Sometimes if I have difficulties I repeat something continuously for example for 30 minutes streight. Recently I stopped counting. Just measuring time. Let's say 5 minutes gives you 100 reps. So repeat something 10-15 minutes. I try to choose short sentences 4-5 words. Or just practicing separate single words, pairs of words, 3 words together. Long sentences are very time consuming and difficult to repeat. From experience I noticed that it usually takes 5 days or more to remember something. Recently I stopped making notes just to focus on practicing. I don't use any SRS system like Anki. Only using online pons de dictionary (as I currently learn German) and bookmark some words. It is chaotic learning at the moment. I don't have any plan. Just watching videos repeatedly, reading comments and choosing some sentences, words. So videos show me what I should revise and what I don't remember. I mix practicing very old sentences and completely new ones. No particular strict rule. You can also repeat in your mind. Doesn't have to be aloud if you cannot. Please check similair method: sentence mining. ruclips.net/video/ktkHjL_PMc4/видео.html

(I’ve been scrolling down the comments, some people are taking a bit too far with calling people koreaboos. Koreaboos are people who think that there is nothing wrong korea and that everyone in Korea looks and acts like their favorite idol. Learning Korean to try and understand what their idol is saying or trying to understand what people in dramas are saying isn’t being a koreaboo. Also calling people cancerous is just plain wrong. Never should someone compare another to something as Awful as cancer. One more thing, how is learning things to try to understand what the people they watch ( their idols or whatever tv show they watch) not a legitimate reason to learn the language. The only difference is the way that they were introduced to the language. I think that it’s good to learn a language to understand their favorite idol or whatever.
If you actually read all of this... thank you. If you disagree with anything that I have stated, please respectfully disagree and not be rude.
Jingmeng Lage thank you, I want to learn Korean because I found interest in the country, and because I want to understand what my favourite idols are saying, but people are putting a barrier up and they're saying that kpop and kdramas aren't good enough reasons to learn Korean, I find it quite offensive even though it's everyone's personal opinions. As you said it's just the way that we were introduced to the Korean culture. So there shouldn't be a problem with learning because of those reasons.
Jamless ChimChim my thoughts exactly
Jingmeng Lage omgg exactly like I get it some of them might be koreaboos or just really young people trying to find what they like people just go offf crazily like wtf even if they are koreaboos they’re still human they should learn the hard way by realizing that whatever they thought about korea was wrong even though everyone is trying to educate them it’s something they should learn on there own
Hi if you need help with mandarin, you can download ChineseSkill. I use this on Amazon Fire. It helped alot. There are some great free courses on RUclips too. From youtube I learnt, ni hao, wo de mingzi shi Mi ya, ni ne? Which means, Hello, my name is mya, and you? Mi Ya is my mandarin name.
你好!我agree 哈哈。我也学中文。中文hard hard的!Haha xD. *Haii, I agree haha. I am also learning Mandarin. Chinese is very hard lol.*
I learn italian for 7 months now and i kist started reading books (for beginners) and watching movies. I really recommend watching and hearing a lot of the foreign language to get more confidence in it :)
Duolingo is great guys,
I studied japanese for a full 3 years
so now I'm able to speak fluent Chinese,

I want to learn German, Russian, Italian, and possibly Japanese. I want to learn one of these languages over the summer! I'm bilingual too! ( btw, I don't mean I will learn a WHOLE LANGUAGE over the summer, I just mean part of a language then learn more over the year) I want to learn multiple languages!
Karen Rodas Hetalia huh ~>v

hahahaha
my thought LMAO
Mm I think that "jojk" is only a thing in Scandinavia but idk I am swedish but I don't live in that part of sweden where you are singing that kind of music...
I'm so glad to know im not the only one that does a couple of these things. So it was refreshing to see them in your video. But im also glad to find some new ways to continue learning on my own. Thank you for making this video 😌❤️ I might stick around on your channel for a while so hope to see new content from you.🤭
Firstly I want to say thank you so much for the video! It’s really helpful. I am learning English, and your tips are really interesting and useful. As for me,usually I try to surround myself with English environment, and for example I really like watching RUclips because I can pick up some phrases off the video. Especially the subtitles help me. Besides,I totally agree with you about “find a buddy “ tip. It’s a great way to improve the level of language and to become fairly fluent in it. Recently, I’ve tried to find some foreign friends and two days ago I did. I’ve found a girl who lives in my city. And she is from USA, I think it’s great! Because I can teach her and she can do the same.
Thank you for the tips! You definitely did not waste your time!
TIPS FOR LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE - my personal notes
Get a notebook devoted to that language - Everything you're learning, journal entries, whatever. Express it only in that language! This might be difficult at first because there'll be words that you find you can't express in that language. This is a great time to open up the dictionary or google translate to learn the new vocabulary for the words you wanna express.
Listen to music in said language - It's a little hard sometimes because you probably won't understand most of it. Read the lyrics as you listen to the song and translate any unknown words. Keep anything that speaks to you!
Watch tv shows/movies - This is great for verbal learning, pronounciaton, intonation, etc. This is also great because you'll find common phrases or words used in daily vocabulary.
Read books - Specifically children books. As you build your confidence, you can progress to higher levels. Get a translated version of something you're already familiar with, so there's no confusion over context and storylines and you can just focus on the language.
Apps / Extra Resources - There's a ton of free apps you can use to learn languages. Duolingo is great for vocabulary, but try to find different apps that help cover grammar, sentence structure, comprehension, etc. There's Drops, Clozemaster, HelloTalk, iTalki, Anki, HiNative, etc.
Find a language buddy! - Find a language buddy you can speak to in your target language. Please don't worry about messing it up, the whole goal of this is to *make* mistakes, not avoid them! Make a bunch of awful mistakes, learn from them, and become more proficient in your target language. Don't focus on yourself; instead focus on the other person and how *they're* speaking and how you can effectively communicate with them to reach a shared goal. After all, communicating with others is the whole point of learning a new language.
Thank you for this! If you don't mind, I'd like to add one more app to the list;. It's called Lingbe and it's an app that will throw you into a phone conversation with a native speaker of your target language
Thank you!
Valley King this deserves more like and is really helpful so thank u so much :)
i wish i could copy and paste 😭

There’s a course on Memrise to learn Korean through Kpop. You should use it. ;)
Super great tips! I recently started learning Spanish (and actually just shared a video on my channel documenting my first week of classes!) and it's been so fun so far!
I stated learning Swedish because I feel more connected to friendly folks across the world than here at home, and I wanted to understand why. Now, I find the language itself so delightful that it is enough to just want to know more words.
Wow! Your notes are so neat and cute! I keep a notebook but I could stand to be a little more organized haha I'll usually do each lesson in a different color for Korean. For Polish, I just try to make a neat list
PassionforDreaming I've just started to learn polish :)
PassionforDreaming .Yeah, when I saw her notebook I thought it was some published textbook or something, My notes are always so messy T.T
you're learning Polish? Crazy girl ♡
Aleksandra I've been wanting to learn for a long time because my grandmother is Polish! I've been making videos about my progress if you're interested in seeing what I've learned so far ^_^
I also want to learn Korean, but I don't know if it's possible without a teacher and real lessons. I am bilingual ( Italian and German), I speak English and I am currently learning french in school, but Korean is so different, so I don't know if I will ever learn this language. Did you learn it "alone"? I just need to know if someone ever managed to do that😂
*scrolls down to look if they learn korean for kpop*
Sees people saying that the people in the comment section are learning korean just for kpop etc
*scrolls further to find them*
Doesnt see any

I first became interested in Korean because of Kpop, but you need slightly more motivation than a boy band to learn a language so drastically different from your own.
@@mclaire9447 yes! finally someome who agrees.
That being said, if a boy band is really what’s going to motivate you to learn another language have at it! As long as you’re not an obsessive super fan I withhold judgment.
This is actually a really useful video. I learned French mainly by doing these things! Listening to music is a great tip. I listened to a lot of Indila’s music in French. Also becoming a fan of someone who speaks that language is a huge motivator so you can listen to interviews with that person... it really helped me. For example I’m a massive Loïc Nottet fan, he’s Belgian and although he speaks English fluently, his first language is French so listening to interviews with him in French after I had a basic grasp of vocabulary really helped.
My motivation in learning Thai:
My self : Let's learn Thai
My brain : Too hard
My heart : Remember bl ?
Lol 😂 bl lover? Hehehe 😉
@@armygirlsarika391 hahaha x gay
Yes bl I just love it
Started Mandarin for learning Japanese, continued for the sake of danmei
what
Listen to music *nervously laughs as kpop bangs in earphones* watch movies&shows with subtitles *starts sweating as variety shows and dramas start playing on the screen* (your suggestions are the reasons I wanna learn this language what to do XD)
Kio That was actually my reaction!
Literally what I thought when she said it. XD the things I do for my oppas.
Kio LITERALLY ME😂😂😂

thank you so much! i am trying to learn italian because i am hoping to move there as soon as i can and this is the first step to making that dream a reality!
This was very helpful! Thank you for the lovely tips!
Here is a tip for people learning japanese: DON’T LEARN WITH ANIME, A LOT OF WORDS ARE NOT USED ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS
Amen to that!
Nanii!!???
Actually I’m pretty sure some places recommend anime. You’re right-anime isn’t accurate most of the time-but it’s still a good learning device. However!! I do not think anyone should rely on anime. It should be used as an exercise, honestly.
Me : **crying in Japanese **
Even those daily life anime?
After reading these comments I would just like to point out to people hating on people trying to learn the Korean language because of K-pop I from the standpoint of a person who does not really listen to K-pop, that the number one downfall of people trying to learn a language is lack of motivation which these people will not have because of there love for k-pop
Exactly. I hate how people call me a Koreaboo because I listen to K-pop and wanna learn Korean. Before K-pop, I loved languages and I still do. K-pop just opened a new slot of languages I wanna learn.
VMinIsFuckingReal방탄소년단 I relate, I was learning Spanish before Korean, but for the exact same reason; because learning languages is fun to me, and I what to understand what they’re saying.
Yes, I'm learning korean because I want to understand better... the language en sí(?) It helps me during tough times because It makes me feel motivated about something =) It's a good thing
@@vminisfuckingreal998 same!
Planning to start some learning a new language and I think this helps me understand where to start.
Due to yourself , I learn English language and I also can fluently speak in English!THANKS 🙏
Your tips are so useful and I hope that your channel going to be the most popular and the most useful in RUclips
You are my favorite blogger. I wish you that all of your dreams become true ❣️
thank you for the tips😁 i'm currently learning japanese..
itsthelifeofira me too good luck:))
excuse me hi ^.^ do you learn Japanese online? bc if you do I'd like to now where do you! I've tried with a Spanish speaker RUclips channel but they quitted 〒_〒 btw good luck learning japanese!!
오타유리 You can learn online on the websites Memrise and Duolingo.
Lindsey N thank you! I've already tried duolingo but in the Spanish section there's no Japanese available for Spanish:( I'll still try the other one, thank you so much ^.^
Lindsey N I use those app too
I really want to learn Korean (any guesses why? Lol) and I watch Kdramas with subtitles on. Whenever they say something I try to repeat it over until i feel like I said it correctly. I also have this notebook that I named the Kpop Journal because I have everything related to kpop including a few Korean basics and words. Anyways, thank you for these tips. They seem really helpful. Starting from tomorrow im going to try and use these tips. Thank you☺️
It's easy once you get used to what comes after what..good luck!
Даниела Колева thank you
I'm currently learning Korean also, and I highly recommend the book "Basic Korean" by Andrew Byon (as well as the Intermediate follow-up). It's helped me alot. Also, TalkToMeInKorean.com is a great resource, along with HowToStudyKorean.com; plus, the apps HelloTalk and Merise have been wonderful tools as well.
Tamara 터매러 Kpopulr on Tumblr thank you so much!
Unicorn Paradise what i do is guessing which word of the sentence means what. like if they say "today is a good day" in Korean i would look at the subs and look what word might have mean today of the sentence, sth like that .I'm so bad at explaining this lol
You're definitely not wasting your time making these videos! Thanks Leonie!
I'm glad! Thank you 😊
Love this! Thanks for sharing!!! Lemmi try these tips!! 😀
Ok, to the kpop/drama fans here.
As a fellow fan of the korean entertainment world, I know it can make you wanna learn Korean. BUT,
If that's the only reason you want to learn the language, it won't work out. You need to really be dedicated and passionate about learning the language to really get a hang of it. Laziness won't get you there. And if you only want to learn so you can understand the lyrics or watch dramas without subtitles, you are most likely not going to learn fluent korean, sorry but it's the truth.
And yes I know that not all kpop fans that wanna learn korean want to learn for convenience.
Just for those of you who are, please PLEASEEEE, try to actually get interested in the language instead of daying things like 'im lazy, but i need to learn korean so I dont have to use subtitles'
It's a bad imagine on you, and those who like k entertainment and are ACTUALLY passionate and dedicated to learning korean
Ikr, i’ve always been interested in korean culture for such a long time especially because i’m half japanese and the 2 cultures are pretty close but so different at the same time. Once i discovered bts, i understood the culture even more and it really motivated me !!
Holy shit thanks for this comment , I only see people in the comments wanting to learn Korean just because of k pop and k dramas when they have no actual passion and dedication to learning the Korean language. It's like wanting to do sports just because your "oppa" likes it even though you have no interest in sports , like smh.
Yes, definitely!
I discovered the Korean Language through watching my first kdrama. I immediately fell in love with the flow and sound of it. Korean is actually the first language I have liked other than English. I knew that I really wanted to be able to speak and write in Korean, even though I knew it would ruin the "subtitle experience" that I actually enjoyed. I continued watching kdramas and then got interested in the history and culture. I also then discovered kpop!
I'm not learning Korean for the kpop or kdramas but because I truly love the language and country.
Yes! 👌
Have to disagree with this. While I personally did not study korean in uni because of my love for k-pop, a friend of mine did. And it definitely worked for her. Everyone is different.
Sorry but I’ve noticed a mistake in your notebook.. it’s not : LE semaine but LA semaine because it’s feminine not masculine (you say UNE semaine not UN semaine) .. (French is my first language)
Well can you help me, trying to learn French
Help me a suffering British highschool student with her french hw : is poission feminine or masculine “la poission? Le poission “
That's "Un poisson" 🐟
Same french is my first language 🌹💝💝💝💝🌹🌹🌹
Hi can we be friend?
Love your personality and music choice, such a cozy vibe
Thank you 💜
Oh hi Leonie! Your video on learning a new language offers fantastic tips for anyone who wants to embark on a language learning journey from the comfort of their own home. I love how practical and accessible your suggestions are!
The use of a dedicated notebook is a great way to stay organised and track progress, while the music and subtitled films make language learning fun and immersive. Personally, I've found that reading children's books is an excellent way to start with basic vocabulary and sentence structure.
It's a good idea to follow social media personalities who speak the language you're learning, so you can see how the language is used in an authentic way. Furthermore, free language learning apps and a language buddy for practice and motivation are invaluable resources.
Your tips really connect with my own language learning experience. The integration of these strategies into my routine has made the learning process more enjoyable and effective.
Thank you for sharing these helpful tips! I'm excited to apply them to my own language learning journey and see the progress.
Everybody is learning Japanese/Korean and I’m like the only one learning Italian
Im learning italian too!! Youre not alone :) Ciao!
I just started learning italian too! Youre not the only one :) Ciao!
buon pommerigo
Ciao!
Ry so am I 🇮🇹
you made me want to try the notebook thing again. I always would get lazy with it. writing definitely helps and typing doesn't work as well.
helio; there are studies that link actual writing of notes as being far more beneficial than typing! You are correct! The connection made both neurologically and physically causes handwritten notes to "imprint" themselves in your memory.
I’m trying to improve my Spanish. I took 4 years of it in high school. But now I want to expand it so I can communicate with my patients at work. Thanks for the tips!
Omg the way of yours writing the notes that awesome !!! That's so clear 😊
99% of these comments will be about the asian languages mainly korean 😂
XjayleeX [재리이] Why not
XjayleeX [재리이]
YEEEEE. the things I do for my oppas
XjayleeX [재리이] Yeah... I've been learning Japanese for two and a half years, but I'm always looking for more advice so yeah I clicked this video. Something funny... I started learning for the hell of it, not expecting to get serious about it. Then someone told me "Oh... you're learning a little Japanese? Have you watched Anime before?" Which I hadn't. Now I'm ruined. And I continued to progress in Japanese.
Lesbolord 32 good job you're down the black hole that is called anime. Enjoy your time, because you won't be able to leave.
XjayleeX [재리이] I've started learning Korean ☺
I'm Swedish and this video just makes me smile
samma här XD
They always do when people are interested in your country :3
Är det bara jag som typ undrar vad folk tänker när dem vill lära sig svenska?
Säkert för Pewdiepie/Roomie är svenska eller nåt annat som jag har ingen aning om 😂😂😂
Hugo Spencer
Sant men varför skriva på engelska om du kan göra det på svenska 😂
Me being Swedish and understanding what she's trying to say. I must say, she's pretty good
Det är så roligt att se att någon lär sig ett språk som jag har alltigt kunna prata men du är jätte bra!!
