U think about Jack Plate for a 2021 Tritoon 22ft ,With a Yamaha SHO , several people said no help, High end Playcraft Tritoon has them . Appreciate your Thoughts
Where can i get the Bobs jackplate from im from ALASKA and wouldnt mind putting 1 of those on my boat 20x6 flat bottom with 20 transom but id always like to try that perfect height i mean in my area we always deal with shallow water id like to take that to another level of me cruising through that shit
Im looking at skeeter boats but have been reading about Porpoising issues at slower speeds. Would you go with a hydraulic plate on a skeeter? Would a hydraulic jack plate fix that porpoise problem? Im looking at the ZX200 with 200HP Yamaha SHO.
Always learn a lot on your channel . I really appreciate the video about lithium batteries ! I learned tonight about greasing jack plates . Never owned one before this week . Got my first real boat last week . 18/62 GT from gator trax . Heck it even made their website . I was taking to Kent about your channel . He smiled and said he knew you guys were very knowledgeable. Anyway being new to lithium batteries , trolling motors , graphs , or anything really boat related I’ve enjoyed your channel . Keep up the great work . I’ll be at watching and sharing your videos in the future .
Bobs all day long! I’ve had two bobs plates.. I wouldn’t run any other brand.. not one problem with them as long as you maintain them. That’s the problem.. most people suck at Maintenance.
My down relay is not working. Isn’t it a but unreasonable for my boat guy to suggest that I bring my boat in to replace it? I installed my own livescope and force trollers.
I've got the CMC 5" with a merc 150 bolted on it for about 8 yrs. Never had an issue. They are 300hp rated as well. Maybe with the bigger motors they might give trouble, don't know. But it appears that changing the pump wouldn't be a problem. Love the videos
I had an Atlas on a 24’ Pathfinder and the pump housing was covered in rust within a couple of years, and the boat was rinsed after every use. It quit working after 3 years and was replaced with a Bobs.
I had a detwiler on my basscat, it had the old style pump and seals on it failed. I sent it to seastar and they rebuilt it with the new mercury updated trim pump and it has been perfect since. This boat has spent most of its time on Lake Erie - so it has been put to the test plenty. Do not sleep on the new Detwiler, in my opinion it is the best. My buddy has that boat now and the used Ranger I just purchased has an atlas on it. If it fails it will be getting a Detwiler.
Atlas is grease free, where as Bob's you have to grease. Is there a biodegradable grease that works, I don't wanna pollute the lakes with grease slicks.
Not knocking company’s but I think amsoil has moly or poly compounds. Which don’t degrade. Check for any moly or poly compounds in the grease ingredients. This would be a decent compromise: vickers-oil.com/marine/product/biogrease-ep2/
I've got a cmc and it has been rock solid! Pump inside the plate, can be maintained, can't see a down side. But then again, I don't work on them everyday. These guys probably know there stuff.
Living in FL I see Atlas a lot of boats. Where bobs stuff I see is on like 18 25 foot boat. Something like a DF140-250 300hp engine. Atlas smaller skiffs 40-75hp
have u ever tried installing an atlas digital/numeric gauge on a bobs jackplate setup, I like my bobs jackplate but not the gauge, Id like to have the atlas gauge, i have a few lights on bobs not working so im getting ready to do something, was curious if anyone has tried this, thanks Cliff
... Thanks for the review. Just ran across your channel. Subscribed. With Bob's reputation I went with a Bob's 4" Extreme Versa Jac to hold my 250 Verado onto my Triton 240 LTS bay boat. With the Verados, the Extreme is the mandatory way to go, NOT the HD. Also just watched the PP vs Talon video. I have 2- 8' PP Blades on order with the side mounting plates. Can't wait. EDIT: Received my pair of Blades in Feb. 2022 and I LOVE them!! .
Not yet, we haven't gotten our hands on one but if/when we do we will be sure to shoot a video with it. As far as getting a Suzuki 350 over a 300 Mercury we would say go for it and we can almost guarantee that you will be happy with your purchase!!!
Good vid. I've always ran detwiler (8" hydro jack with a 6" static plate for a total of 14" setback on my stroker) and agree I hate the dial. Mine has blinker switches and shit canned the dial. Bob's and TH are OK with me. Though I've seen the atlas not want to raise up under a load with a 3 liter motor.
I wlmos t bought an Atlas for a gheenoe and endep up finding out that the reason for it to be cheaper on MarketPlace was that it needed a "modest" extra almost $200 for a clamp on adapter for small 20 hp anyways so NO, THX.
Run a bobs on my duck hunting boat I run the flats jack so my pump is inside my boat here in southern Ontario we get ice late season and having an electric motor in the water when it’s covered in ice scares me that’s why I choose a bobs over an atlas
Atlas are not maintenance free. You have to keep the slides clean and free of debris if you fish in the cheesy stuff. Dirty atlas will act like a non greased Bob's
I went with an Atlas purely because of the price I got one for about $300 less than normal retail and no tax. It's worked Great from day 1 never any problems.Im sure the Bob's are great plates as well just a little more expensive than the Atlas. Personally I would go for price and availability if I were buying new again.
Our stroker bass boat has a detwililer. It’s a strong plate. However I feel it’s the Evinrude Ficht of jackplates. Once the plates break, they really can’t be fixed well and just continue to constantly need grease and perform poorly. We just got a new ranger and it’s got a atlas. Working good so far. Can’t go wrong with bobs or atlas!
@@TeamMarineService negative. One was a 300hp G2 and the other was a 250 HO G2. I have both plates. Twisted back and to the left and one had a crack through a mounting hole all the way to the nylon slider.
@@TeamMarineService unfortunately Ranger uses the Standard when rigging from the factory. They also charged way too much for the Bob's and now don't even offer it. TH is awesome though and sent a new HD plate assembly and a new standard plate.
The guys I fish with all have Atlas I have Bob's. They all give me crap and the first thing they say is Atlas is maintenance free. I simply say if you are that damn lazy to think greasing a zerk fitting is hard work then there's no hope for you lol. Bob's all the way their customer service is really good too.
Having had 2 of Bob's on different boats , Both with Remote pump .... My biggest Bitch is their CRAP wiring. Why would you use wire ends that have open barrel connectors on a Marine application? I've Bitched to them... It went on deaf ears. My fix.... Cut every wire end off before it's installed. Use Crimp/Shrink connectors to seal that wiring up. Those factory connectors will let corrosion right into the wiring... These things are mounted in a bilge area... Bilge areas are Wet making it corrode faster. Bob's Machining is superb... Once that wiring is fixed from the get-Go.... No problems at all. Yes I grease the jackplate when the outboard gets greased. Next boat.... I'll go with the non remote.
This is a good one!
Thanks B. Lat!!
I went with the Atlas HD on my flats boat although I had Bob's install their low water pickup on my lower unit. I'm happy with both.
Awesome! 👍🏻
Bob's for the win!
Thanks for the thoughts. About to replace my old CMC(still works good) , while the boat is apart(opportunity)
Smart move!
I want to hear about the porta bracket and how they compare.
Both are top notch plates!
Agreed!
Vance manufacturing is a good one, surprised you didn't mention them.
How about a top 5 of glass multi species, aka deep v (Warrior, Recon, etc,) boats?
What would you call a heavier motor?
My motor is 155 pounds, I've been thinking about the atlas micro jacker.
What about cmc add on trim plates. I needed one and got it brand new for 500 bucks. Is it a good one that will hold up it looks really well built.

I struggled with the choice, but finally settled on the Atlas. I did get it 20% off during a sale, so it was a bit cheaper than the Bob’s.
10" Bobs Flats Jac!
My down relay is not working. Isn’t it a but unreasonable for my boat guy to suggest that I bring my boat in to replace it? I installed my own livescope and force trollers.
It’s still under warranty and I fish 4-6 days a week and still work full time.
Think I’m gonna get a new bass cat.
Yes and he installed a fucking rocker switch. What the fuck? Why would you have anything other than a blinker switch ?
The Powepole brackets attach to Bob's right on the side you don't have to take it off?
I have a 2013 Ranger z520c with a 250 SHO. Wondering if I should go with 6 or 10 for the Bob's
Thank you

I have a 2019 triton 18 TRX WITH A 2019 MERCURY proxs 200HP,
WHICH BOB'S MODEL AND SIZE DO YOU RECOMMEND, AND TYPE OF PROP TO MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE
What happened to the Mercury scissor lift...?
What determines the size of plate we should get? I herd you mention 10 inch jack plate, is that standard for all 250s?
I have a ranger 2003 521vx with a bobs aka ranger would it work for a new 4 stroke or would i have to change it?
Depends on the 4 stroke but yes it most likely would.

Atlas is grease free, where as Bob's you have to grease. Is there a biodegradable grease that works, I don't wanna pollute the lakes with grease slicks.
We would normally use Amsoil marine grease. We'd recommend you calling Amsoil and asking them that specifically on this.
Not knocking company’s but I think amsoil has moly or poly compounds. Which don’t degrade. Check for any moly or poly compounds in the grease ingredients. This would be a decent compromise: vickers-oil.com/marine/product/biogrease-ep2/

What's your thoughts on the holeshot plate for an atlas Jack plate

Love these commentaries. I’d like to hear your opinion on the Verado and the new Pro XS 4stroke.
In the hierarchy of Mercury excellence the Verado is at the bottom just below the fantastic Pro XS wizbang v8!

Atlas HD rated for up to 400 HP!!
Never even heard of the 3rd one 😂 I’ve shopped for them for my old boat and all that I saw was bobs and atlas. Guess it’s pretty bad

Forget the grease. Atlas is a clear winner. 10 years strong for me…

Hahaha hydraulically operated might work better!
You just have never beard if Vance
