I’ve got a Bob’s kick back jac on my boat, electric jack plate and I love it. Use it every time I take the boat out. 1/2”-1” up gives me the best speed depending on the load and up to 4.5” for my shallowest running when on plane. I can run a 17’ duck boat in 8-10” of water. And jacked up to 6” max it can idle in 8” of water. No mud boat, but suits me well. I love being able to adjust it as conditions and boat loads change which on a duck boat are huge. Might be just me and fishing poles, might have 4 guys and hunting gear. And I can certainly gain a few mph and better fuel economy by adjusting the jack plate when I’m running heavy
Man your right. Being able to raise and lower the jackplate is essential for different loads. I ended up switching to an on-the-fly adjustable Jackplate.
Nice, I'm actually headed to Mount Pleasant, SC area to do some sheepshead fishing in March. It will be my first time taking my boat to saltwater and first-time targeting sheepshead. Do you fish in that area?
Is your 1548 a flat bottom as well? I guess thats the max speed to expect with a 20hp. Been thinking about upgrading tona 30hp...but its just an idea at the moment.
I love fishing creeks peirs and bridge paylons look up low country fishing my friend Dan and Beaufort SC fishing Houston. And one more guy make time to fish
Interesting, I have watched all their channels trying to get some insight on what to expect from the weather and fishery down there. They have great content and catch some nice sheepshead. I plan to fish creeks, piers and bridges. I was worried about getting out in the jetties, I heard they are neat the shipping channels and swells could be rough at times.
@chrispeterson1247 Yeah I ran into that issue and that's why I cut the handle to allow the jack crank handle to go through so I can put on my transom saver. If you have the sake outboard this was the outcome I was forced to do.
Yeah, I wish there was a easy way to take it off, but I couldn't figure that out and didn't want to screw anything up. I got the hunch that I would need to do it, from another person stating they had to do it on the internet before I installed mine, which made it easier for me to accept once I had to.
I haven't purchased an 11 pitch yet, as the Jackplate with my 10p has allowed me to dial in my speed very well with a heavy load but I'm still seing around 21-23 mph with RPM at the top end between 6100-6180 by myself. I think the 11p will reduce the rpms by 200-300, but I do think it's worth trying. What do you think?

cant wait to see your top speed
I'm excited to see it as well.
What was the top speed
@CM-ty9zl By myself I see 24mph. But average is 22-23. With a buddy its around 19-20mph.
@@fishingistherapy Chris....I have exact speeds in my 1548 ..however I have power tilt "assist" .. mine is a 20 HP toha.

What you end up getting for proper speed now?
By myself I see 23 mph, perfect conditions 24 and 19mph with a another 200lb person.

Is the video out yet?
Which video are you referring to?
Yes fish the jetties and use barnacles from the pylons
Nice, thanks for the tips. Do you think a 1448 jon boat is okay to take to the jetties?
Yes it’s not far

Good video man
Thanks, I appreciate that man. I enjoyed making it!
quit drilling holes in that boat😂😂😂
The comment I was looking forward to seeing😂😂😎
What about tilting the motor all the way up?
Tilting the motor up was problem with the carrying handle there. I sawed the middle portion out and it works perfect now.
@@fishingistherapy I’m installing mine now and running into the same problem. Can’t use the transom saver while trailering the boat.

@@fishingistherapy I have an old Mercury had a similar carry handle on the front of the motor

I think 10 is probably best
I though so as well, just hesitated to buy another one that might not increase top speed anyway.
