    This is a great channel. It took me a while to notice you actually had a cobbler shop and were not just doing this in your home as an amateur. I find your sneaker restorations to be quite impressive as well, although those shoes are nothing compared to the awesome Aldens (and other leather shoes) that you feature on here.

    I like this kind of shine, the whole show looks clean and polished. No exotic patina finish, no extreme mirror finish. Those finishes all too often come out looking gaudy.

    Very relaxing video. You are doing quality work, but the leather soles need to be tapered so that the rubber top sole is then flush at the transition joint. I have seen this done where the sole is cut or skived on a taper for about one inch, leaving a smooth transition. I can see in the video that there is a lip at the transition which is not what you want.

    Please compare both versions with or without the shoe tree. Just putting in a shoe tree by itself makes a huge difference so it's sort of misleading.

    Hey guy! Nice, but for Alden cordovan #8, You have to Saphir Pommadier Cordovan cream №71

    • @armedferret
      @armedferret 4 года назад

      ....and no wax, cordovan shines on its own.

    • @benjaminkenobi21
      @benjaminkenobi21 4 года назад +1

      Absolutely not... the Medaille d'Or cordovan cream he uses here is exactly what you want to use on this shoe. The Pommadier cream polishes contain turpentine, which you don't want to use on cordovan... the entire point of the cream he uses here is that it doesn't contain turpentine, only the conditioners and the pigment. The reason there is a Pommadier cream polish in "cordovan" is that they're just matching the color of cordovan so that it can be used on other types of leathers in that color, it doesn't mean it's intended for the shell material. VeTiVeR knows more about shoe care than you do. There is your lesson for today.
