Years ago in the mid 1980's I was flying a small plane over Palm Beach County in South Florida. I was about 4500 feet above ground level when I felt a rumble come through my cockpit. tuff ute Top fuel cars have between 9000-10,000hp. There is math you can do to prove it seing as there is no dyno in the world that could hold up to these power levels. Running a 1000ft in 3.7 seconds at 330mph plus is not done with any less than those numbers. These cars hit 100mph in 0.8 seconds!
tuff ute Nope, they're really making that much horsepower. They measure the torque during each run and if you have the torque you can easily calculate the horsepower. That's all a dyno does anyways. It measures torque and calculates the horsepower based on RPM. They really do make 10,000 horsepower.
+p80mod probably the average speed of pistons was increased a bit (and it results in an incredible ammount of power) maybe some extra on the fuel, maybe some lighter rotating parts it results in less moment of inertia , maybe some increasing in displacements and maybe some extra boost with better efficiency compressor, maybe some extra valve lift...i dont knwo...but i know that i'm proud of that !!! proud of what we did as men!!!! it's just FANTASTIC! If a T-rex is near that beast he 'd probably die just by hearing the roar of 10 000 hp pulled out of the engine. cheers from italy
That motor was a bit heated by the time they got on the lights.. Guessing this was an exhibition run for some event they were having.. We ran A LOT of these events (AA/FC AA/FA), long burnouts and lots of noise.. Probably just torched a piston or two... that motor will need to come all the way out and down (aluminum crap in oil).. But yes, typical time to slam a set of pistons in, about 40 minutes for a national event team.. Us privateers can not afford to miss any garbage in the motor (do not get paid enough per pass to blow it up) As for the guy below "All 5 clutches weld themselves together" has never worked on one of these.. they simply do not do that and there is only 1 clutch with X# of floaters and X# of disks.. National Event team, gets a new pack every pass, us lowly privateers can get 2 or 3 passes out of a pack pretty easy without having to face them all... So much "misinformation" floating around on these :)

One get real these cars can barley stay together an 1/8 let alone 1/4 mile very best parts know to man are one the verge of their limits the whole time, uses gallons of gas in the run so u better not be going over a mile n better have a drum of gas on board, let alone it'd prolly melt down if u could even make it that far, they don't run coolant cause its not supposed to get over a certain temp, its direct drive so they clipping a clutch the whole time, and just for the records they're the fastest accelerating vehicle on land and pretty sure the planet also
First: they don't use gas. They use Nitro methane. Second: they don't use coolant because during combustion, nitro methane has an extreme cooling effect so there isn't a need and it allows them to have solid blocks without cooling lines to make them stronger.
I never say this because it's overly used and used when it's no where close to the level when it should be used, but in the case... RIP headphone users!

But yes, G forces experienced by top fuel is similar to those experienced during lift off of space shuttles.

way more g force compared to the space shuttle
Maximum G of space shuttle is 3G, top fuel drag is 5+G, however space shuttle is more sustained G. Dragster G is more of a chest thump!

I think everyone in the world has to see one of these in person once in their lifetime!
Absolutely!!!!
The 8000 hp top fuel dragsters only get a life expectancy of 900 revolutions under full throttle no wonder why his engine blew with 10000 hp and that ridiculous burnout
Did they double up on the fuel cell? Normally only enough to do a minor burnout, stage, and run about 1300 feet ( 1,000 plus a little margin ).
and the most important thing is missing: the 1/4 mile time. Cant see in vid, not in desciption :P disappointed
+SAV AGE No more 1/4 mile times for those cars, they only run 1000ft now
NE MOTORMUŞ AMQ MEMUR PARA YETİŞTİREMEZ BUNA ZZUUUUHAHHAAHHAAAA
just watched a dvd 6000 bhp funny car 0 to 300 mph in 3 seconds runs on nitromethane, beats any top fuel dragster, its team castol
10,000 bhp? the dyno actually went over that mark very briefly when they were running tests recently
Every drag video watch last 2 seconds .... first 1000 secs are just for farting
top fuel dragster means 10k hp, that is its definition. google it, read the www.nhra.com result. thumbs down
Veyron got stripped of title for cheating and I see all failed to mention or remember this car but title went back to ssc ultimate aero just my three nickels worth now official record who cares grab a beer and let's burn some rubber
09450rdude these cars run on nitromethane not gas and in a 1/4 mile run they use about 15 gallons just to make the 1/4
What pisses me off is that people think they know shit about drag racers yet all they're doing is talking out of their ass trying to sound cool but in reality they don't know shit about them
why waste weight on a reverse gear. useful but its probably light enough all the guys that want it to win could push it back. is it required?
Driving a black "car" with red and white iron cross on it, and all the black people chanting. :)
Aluminum block won't hold at 10k hp. None of the parts will.
them top fuel dragster ain't no joke. saw one did a 6sec pass and shit was loud AF...
By rebuild they mean actually rebuild the whole engine only thing reused is the block usualy
bump speed to 2 at 2:10 to see what 90,000 horsepower would be like...O_O
bayır yukarı çeker mi admin nasıl iyi midir dedeme alacaz da
World's loudest fart
that moment when you think the supra and the r34 are fast.... But well, this thing is ugly as hell haha
+seargentbrainfry wow that's fucked up, man.
goddamn, have to rebuild the motor after that 1/3 mile burnout... shit
I had to turn the volume way down...this thing sound mean af!!!!!
guy literally did a burnout halfway to the line lmao
Literally.....containing an explosion!!!!........as you drive
My kia rio wouldn't even be at 30 by the time he reached 1/4 mile..
Burnout: 1320 feet. Race: 1000 feet. Serious shit.
aff 10000 HP n e nada comparado com o meu fiat marea aki explode 10 quarteroes

i pity the guys who work at the drag strip, they have to put up with loud monsters like these holy shit
Spencer give me new headphones please, they burst in flames
Sorry but it’s to loud, when can we get to see electric dragsters instead?
Wow, the chick didn't pull off a fuel line and fall over this time
