No lie, I did a double take when I saw Ichigo's Bankai break. I had to look at the pages several times just to make sure I really saw what I was seeing. It was almost pretty funny if it weren't so god damn frustrating and sad.
this video is several years old, but i haven't seen anyone make this correlation, so i'm going to. Tensa Zangetsu (soul society arc) - manifestation of Ichigo's bankai while under the limitations of his Quincy, soul reaper, and hollow powers Tensa Zangetsu (Blood war) - manifestation of Ichigo's bankai whilst all of his powers work in tandem, to their fullest extent Tensa Zangetsu (Soul society arc) - has a stubby, small black chain at the end of the handle. Tensa Zangetsu (Blood war) - has a fully extended chain, reaching to two separate points of the blade, not loose or cut off the fact that Ichigo's chain reaches what appears to be full maturity / length once his powers are supposed to no longer be limited just seems like a simple connection.
PLATINUM yeah I just rematches the video after 2 years and realized too, that the Soul Society Arc Bankai had a broken chain that represented that not all Ichigo’s powers are working together. Then later in the Blood War Arc the chain is connected showing that Hollow, Human and Quincy powers are working together perfectly. Now design wise of the Blood War Bankai. I kinda see it from the stand point of, Ichigo had his original Shikai with him since the Rukia Rescue Arc aka, Soul Society Arc. Now that I think about it, every single time Ichigo goes into a fight with his Shikai everything is fine until he gets overwhelmed then goes into Bankai. So maybe this is my guess, that the new Bankai takes that form subconsciously. I mean come on, Ichigo has seen the thin blade version of Tensa Zangetsu always got destroyed, and had seen the hardly (I’m going off memory here. Haven’t touched Bleach again since the last page was scanned and readable on Manga Rock) the Shikai break. So I guess, Ichigo subconsciously see his old Shikai form more stable then his old Bankai. Which intel makes his new Bankai, have the form of his Shikai... just covered by a sharp blade guard. New Bankai symbolism wise? Maybe it’s the fact how even while moving forward to the future, it’s good to reflect what happened in the past and learn from it. I mean that’s all I can think is what Kubo is trying to tell the readers.
Old man Zangetsu: "Oh ok, Ichigo will loose all his powers, he won't get in fights any more" * Ichigo learning Fullbring * Old man Zangetsu: "Oh, ok. I can handle this. Just a minor inconvenience" * Rukia stabs Ichigo with the sword to give him his powers back * Old man Zangetsu: "WELL FUCK, HERE WE GO AGAIN"

Think of Tensa Zangetsu's name. "Heaven Chain Slaying Moon". Tensa, the "heaven chain", is what keeps Zangetsu, Ichigo's power, bound. But in the reforged Bankai, that chain has been separated from the inner part of the weapon. Tensa and Zangetsu are now distinct from each other. The real question is this; what happens when Tensa, and ONLY Tensa, is completely destroyed? A completely unbound Zangetsu, that's what happens. It seems to me that this Bankai was MEANT to be broken, in that specific way.
DenisK21 bro I think your right. He wasn't able to go all out like usual like he was low on xp points so it made him weaker than normal. Plus like you said with, Tensa got damaged so all of the reiatsu was released from the injured part of Tensa rendering Zangetsu the blade completely useless.
Food for Thought: The Mugen bankai that Ichigo attained to fight hougyouku Aizen was actually a form of Quincy: Letzt Stil, hence why he lost his power after using it.

Ichigos' whole thing was about condensing reiatsu and ploughing it into someone. The most obvious thing Kubo could have done was to give Ichigos' true power the ability to perpetually remove reiatsu from the surrounding space and condense it within himself for awesome god powers. All of yhwachs' powers were reiatsu based so it would have ended in a good old sword dual......or the end of the soul society and all of soul kind because of Ichigos' soul void bankai......
"It was a thing back in the day when old man Zangetsu said something about disliking the rain. Now, back then when we thought old man Zangetsu was Ichigo's soul, it was supposed to be an uplifting sentiment where it says when Ichigo is sad, Zangetsu is sad, but that Zangetsu is always there and Ichigo will never be alone. It was a touching sentiment. But then we learn old man Zangetsu was actually Ywach, and so it makes you wonder...what could he have really meant there? So the theory basically goes that Ywach disliked the rain because the rain was a representation of Ichigo's powers that Ywach was failing to contain. Perhaps when Ichigo gets emotional, his powers flare up or something, idk, so it seems to rain inside. So Ichigo's real true bankai when he finally unleashes it would somehow have something to do with the rain that Ywach disliked so much. I'm not 100% sure how you'd utilize rain in a way that seems usable, but perhaps it could have been another metaphor. Like, Ichigo's spirtual pressure is so strong that it is condensing spiritual energy and falling like rain drops around him in the massive area that his spiritual aura reaches to. Something like that. The rain idea was from a comment I read years ago, but I expanded on it to make this concept. That doesn't say much about his sword itself though, or how I wanted his powers to interact. Well, this could be how they interact. We know Shinigami have their own internal spiritual energy, and quincy utilize outside spiritual energy, plus there's his hollow side which are like Shinigami in a way but different. So we could say he has this aura that draws spiritual energy to him, and that his own inner energy is radiating out creating this pressure that is condensing the energy into "rain" and perhaps this energy is being tainted with his hollow energy which somehow bla bla creates this thick fog of reishi rain that burns his opponent? Idk, tbh, I never fully formed this idea, and am in fact making shit up as I type this to try to complete the thought. I don't know. Something like the above. I like the idea of the quincy aspect drawing in spiritual energy toward Ichigo, possibly passively drawing energy out of his opponents. Then his own energy's aura leaking out and passively condensing said spiritual energy around him to such an extent that it becomes nearly physical and begins falling like rain. The hard part is figuring out how his hollow powers could interact with that. Hollows devour spiritual energy, so perhaps instead of simply drawing the energy to himself to use it as a weapon as a quincy might, perhaps Ichigo "devours" the rain (a mix of his own and his opponents energy) thus culminating in a subtle but ever present growth in strength as the fight progresses (matched by a gradual weakening of the opponent). This would have been pretty neat to use against Ywach since the dude was insanely powerful. That could be why Ywach was afraid of the rain, he knew it was the only innate ability that could effectively bring him down even after he'd gotten all his upgrades. Uuugh, idk. There's something in there, I can feel it, but it still doesn't feel like a complete idea. It still doesn't feel quite right." I wrote this as a comment, but when I read yours I really wanted you to read my comment because I feel like your idea and mine synergize fairly well, and so I was thinking our ideas could create a fully realize concept of what Ichgo's true real final ultimate bankai should have been. @@simpgod2170 his power is different there's no reason to believe it's the same hos old bankai acted as a resurrection his new one is apart of him that's why his outfit doesn't change and the sword is a combination of his shikai and bankai with the chain representing completion and the white over black representing duality
sooo that panel where bach power was nullified did that mean the quincy side of ichigo was nullified since hes the father if all quincy power and therefore turned ichigo's mixed bankai back to his real shikai?
I think the original Bankai made more sense, because it was all of his available power compressed into one small blade meaning he's exponentially faster and a single strike is equivalent to a full power Getsuga Tenshou from his Shikai.
What if he had a living Cero that would wear his hollow mask and fight using his old shikai twirling the sword around like in Ichigo's inner world. Then the chain could be used as a draw string for a bow spirit weapon
I think the amount of power that Zangetsu would've sealed is WAAAAYY more than 80%. He's insanely powerful after the Royal Guard training. I wouldn't be surprised if his original power with his first bankai was only like 3% or 4% of his actual power. If he already had 20% he would've trashed literally everyone up to maybe like Second Release Ulquiorra, even then I'm sure he could've beat 2nd release UIquiorra.
Your overestimating zangetsu a bit. It's very strong but it's still young compared to the Captain's who've trained for hundreds of years. Hitsugya's bankia was stronger than Ichigo's
@@ShakaZ3D Eh. Tensa Zangetsu was purely his Shinigami powers, which were being suppressed by his Quincy powers because they were tied to his hollow powers. When he had a portion of his Hollow powers released in a more complete form he became his Second Hollow form. By the end of the Blood War Arc he had all of his powers combined. Hollow, Shinigami, Quincy, and Fullbring to achieve his full power.

Hichigo Kurozaki What makes you think that he did? He had more than enough time to show his Bankai, but kept having get destroyed at every turn. More than likely, Kubo just ran out of ideas.
Okay... yes he was rushed... but the issues of Ichigo's Bankai is really the writing and the nonesense of the power scaling in Bleach and lack of long term plot planning
Problem is bankai isnt only thing rushed, almost every second chapter has something rushed and unfinished, almost every major battle has deus ex machina at it, not SJ fault, he just doesnt make it realistically unrealistic, maybe hard to understand.
Missed opportunity if you ask me. Should have been a mugetsu followed by a representation of his bankai training in Uruhara's basement. Pitch black with little white swords everywhere. Repeated attacks, shattering. Each shatter rids him of weakness and it stretches out into infinite time. It becomes a battle of reishi, like Aizen said, and reishi is inherently timeless. Ywach said that he had the same power as anyone else to choose the future, its just that has was greater. To choose a future far out. And in that environmental effect bankai, within the Mugetsu, Ichigo could just find a future that Ywach could never see or understand. That Ichigo had the same power as Ywach, because they were bonded in spirit. But Ichigo's manifestation isn't some cheap parlor trick used without willpower. Ichigo would need to purge himself of countless weaknesses to get to that future, defying despair. Its the same infinite resolve required to beat Aizen. And Aizen would witness it, being completely shocked that such a thing was possible.
What if his mugetsu used the quincy final form of absorbing power around him but instead he borrows power of all his allies and all the people in soul society like gokus spirit bomb

Agreed, like what if it's reasoned that a literal getsuga from ichigo's bankai actually cuts through time/dimensions etc. Even something as simple as that to show why bach feared ichigo the way he did and what that last attack fucking meant lmaoo. I hope that with the anime coming back they will actually add or touch up on more stuff, with kubo's help. Bleach is defo one of my favorites from childhood, would love to see it end properly with a good send off!

Ywach was worried because of Ichigo's blood, so you would think this new bankai would harness the power of Shinigami, quincy, and hollow and kick Ywachs @$$. But no we got crap and a whole lot of confusion. So here's hoping for the final season of the anime!
@@riven4121 True, very true, and LOL. I mean after the final Getsuga Tensho, Ichigo's zanpakuto was more about appearance than anything reliable. It just didn't bring anything to the table unlike everybody else did in the final arc. To me personally it should of been all 5 warpowers (Ichigo, Kenpachi, Kisuke, Aizen, and Ichibe) together (and Uryu) that defeated Ywach. Makes more sense and would of been a better fight to behold.
If you remember back to the beginning of Bleach, Rukia explains that Ichigo's large Zanpakuto was symbolic of the fact he had insane Reiatsu and couldn't control it all. Ichigo's Bankai was more symbolic that his insane power was finally able to contained within the Zanpaku-Tô, but Ichigo's final Zanpaku-tô is even more symbolic. The Shikai is symbolic of Ichigo accepting his Shinigami/Hollow Powers, and the Bankai is symbolic of his rise to a power level so beyond compare that White Ichigo, Old Man Zangetsu, AND Ichigo all couldn't contain it, and the White outline is symbolic of his Quincy Powers and how they limit the Hollow Powers, and when the white shatters, it's him pulling on his reservoir so much that EVERY OUNCE of his Quincy powers was used up in the attack. Remember, Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou was white when it was comprised of his Quincy Power, and black when comprised of his Shinigami/Hollow Power.
Okay I think I figured this all out. Even though his hollow should have been bonded to his quincy powers, when Ichigo first gained his powers, his hollow wasn't active, so his quincy powers merged with his shinigami powers, creating his shikai. Once his hollow powers were unleashed, that took prominence in bankai. Fullbring is derived from hollow influence and, even though I'm sure it did boost his physical powers, I think it limited Quincy Zangetsu's control even further. The merger was fixed when he got his new swords, so that his hollow and quincy powers were ripped out together as they were given to him by Misaki. What was left was just plain shinigami powers which was what we saw once he took the final swing at Ywach
Well, it was atleast strong enough to be deemed a threat to juha to constantly break it, and not to mention it cleave him in half when Aizen used Kyoka suigetsu, so despite it not doing much, it really is clearly the most powerful version of it.

I would have had something like him wearing the Quincy shadow, similar to how his incomplete fullbring looked. Chad even mentioned how his bankai always changed his outfit. He always got a new coat or something.
At the end of the Fullbringer arc, I believe Ichigo had more access to Zangetsu. Because the Fullbringer training was basically him accessing his hollow powers that are also his shinigami powers. Also Ichigo basic sword design changed, he had those markings on his body, but most of all, his "bankai" had hollow aspects to it. The white bracelets and the sword looking like one of White's arms. So without a doubt in my mind, the Fullbringer arc served three purposes. 1) Return Ichigo powers 2) Make the use of the hollow mask unnecessary 3) Raise his base power level (how much we have no way of knowing)
Which is exactly why I don't see why people try to right off the Fullbring arc as pointless. I liked it and I saw the purpose of it. I liked the idea of Ichigo not having to basically become a spirit to have access to his powers, especially with the added benefit of combining his Soul Reaper powers with Fullbring/Hollow powers. He was too limited in combat having to rely on his mask which had a time limit.
exactly as much as i rated his shinigami powers they were also limited as the enemies kept rising and more often than not hollowlification had to be activated nad altho that also had limits i feel like fullbring had potential also why did tekken say we don't know much about ginjo he was the previous substitute and he went rouge XD
+Derrick Couch It seems like Ichigo had to be left on the brink of death for the Vasto Lorde form to appear. But now it seems like he used a fusion of the Vasto Lorde form and his regular form against Yhwach. But it just seems wasted on him because Zangetsu (White/True Zangetsu) always had better battle instincts than Ichigo. I loved Hollowfication and the techniques it gives but Ichigo has little ingenuity in battle. Zangetsu uses the cloth to throw the blade like a flail and Ichigo never attempts that. Just spams Getsuga Tensho in every fight. Hiyori used this cool Triple Cero against Gerard while Hollowfied and I was like damn. And Rose used the cool KIdo against Gillian's.
I would have wanted Ichigo to show more variation in combat. I mean, ANY kind of variation. He should have had multiple forms to his bankai (in a different way that he ended up having). Like dual swords, a double-bladed sword, a single blade and a bow. Stuff like that. Maybe it should have turned into a machine gun or a boombox
I would've wanted variation like the one Shunsui's shikai has. I mean, he can use a wide array of techniques with Katen Kyokotsu, and the overall concept of that shikai is arguably one of the better in Bleach (The Bankai on the other hand...).
Ok picture this: A gran rey cero in the shape of an arrow, and u know those things at the end of an arrow that give it more winds resistance? that would be getsuga jujisho
Feel like the getsuga jujisho is wasted acting as fletchings, so rather than that, have the gran rey cero form the shaft of the arrow, while the getsuga jujisho is the arrow head. But, hey, idk, both of those things could effectively work the same way depending on how it's written.
Secret technique: "Shatter" - can now transition between his powers by having his blade shatter on command. this creates a small shrapnel blast as the blade breaks. He can reform his blade at any time in order to access another power strain. when the sword is in the "Shinigami" form he will be able to access 100% of the power from that part of his overall power, but be unable to use the other powers.
The new Tensa Zangetsu should have allowed Ichigo to see everything, EVERYTHING, in slow motion and possess speed above speed. Speed was the former Tensa Zangetsu's ability so why not have the ability to see everything so slow that to everyone, Ichigo is moving like the Flash... LIKE THE FLASH. That would be crazy. I don't care if he can see the future, Yhwach would have a problem just even hitting Ichigo if he can can move like lightning and react faster than anything he tries! Goku Speed, Saitama Speed! Heck, have Ichigo absorb any of the three energies (Shinigami, Quincy, and Hollow) and unleash it all into a megaton Getsuga Tensho in the form of an arrow and explodes like a nude! That would be Ichigo's Bankai and in some extend surpass the formers.
Why can't people read. Bach stated when he seen Ichigo new shikai dual swords for the first time, that he is back on the level he fought Aizen when ichigo cut the soul king in half. This is Ichigo being in Shikai and without using the hollow power or quincy techniques.
Late reply but I shall add to this. It is stated Ichigo has overwhelming Reiatsu, but also an overwhelming lack of control. If ichigo had control I do honestly doubt the force of his sword strikes would destroy a mountain side casually. That being said, Ichigo now has control over his Reiatsu as confirmed by Kirio Hikifune, a Royal Guard member, Ichigo also consumed foods made of Reiatsu and that acted as a sort of boost. Yes, Dangai Ichigo is immensely powerful and can be compared to the apex of what Ichigo at least in his Shinigami form is capable of, but he's also capable of much much more. His bankai was enough to threaten a Soul King empowered Yhwach to the point he went to destroy it,,and it even cut Yhwach in half. That on its own displays how much power he has in his training, and I honestly don't doubt that he does have superior potential, due to his Zanpakuto changing.
Since all that ichigo's zanpakuto does is to cut through things, I would have liked if his bankai were the maximum expression of that, to cut anything, to cut the futures that yhwach has seen, to cut his powers, to shatter yhwach reiatsu. The final scene would be Aizen saying that using his zanpakuto now would be useless as ichigo would cut his illusions, saying that he regrets not being able to see if his ultimate creation(ichigo) is able to cut the world itself and recreating it at his will, with an insane smile.
Interesting concept and that would mean it would be the opposite of Tsukishimas book of the end where he inserts himself into the past where as ichigos just erases their future.
I read the whole scene with the "broken bankai who turn very similar to the shikai" as "Quincy's powers (in the form of a young Yhwach) failed to overcome all the Shinigami's power and leave it unbound the part that made his Shikai, Yhwach himself failed to completely destroy his Shinigami's power and a part remains to cut him"...like a metaphor for the Quincy's power failing to seal completely Shinigami's power.
I always preferred his bankai with the black katana and the robe, represented Ichigo's hero side and it was very iconic to him throughout the series. Though i do agree it was totally under powered, and i'm disappointed my favorite character in the series was shoved under the rug because of Kubo having to rush and shounen jump being nazi's.
I only have speculations like everyone else about this but the way I see it is that due to Yhwach taking Ichigo's Hollow and Qunicy powers he changed Ichigo shinigami powers into their pure form. As Ichigo never left his bankai when Yhwach broke the sword it didn't change it's appearance, rather the physical remnants of his Hollow and Quincy power were still covering his sword (this to me also implies that his powers were never truly melded into one, rather they simply overlap each other.) so when the weakened Yhwach tried to stop a blade he thought was broken he held back, when the physical remnants fall off the sword Yhwach realized his folly for not truly understanding his own power and his inability to read it correctly. Ichigo's true bankai was probably always meant to be the shikai Zangetzu we saw him use all the time and his bankai Zangetzu was actually the form the sword takes when trying to do the FTG. It may be more accurate to say that Ichigo never had a constant shikai release, rather his true power was so immense that he had constant bankai release. Ichigo's new swords during the Fullbring arc were probably the Hollows interpretation of how it believed Ichigo's shinigami swords should look as it was now the dominant of Ichigo three powers. Now you are probably thinking this has to be crap, but we were told that Ichigo's hollow absorbed and become Ichigo's zanpakuto spirit but if that was truly the case then when Yhwach took back the Quincu powers and for some odd reason took his Hollow powers as well that would have reverted Ichigo to being a normal human since his Hollow and shinigami powers are supposed to one, taking the Hollow powers should take the shinigami powers also. But thats not the case, Ichigo still has his shinigami powers implying that all the given information about his powers being melded into one were false, rather they simply stacked on top of each other. (Kubo does like to give us lots of false information and then give us contradicting information later) For the most recent arc the long Shikai sword we see Ichigo use was probably the closest we were gonna see to Ichigo's true Shikai, this is probably due to Ichigo having a true zanpakuto this time around and the effect his other powers had on it, part of the blade splintered off to represent his Quincy power and the hole in the long sword represented his hollow powers. Ichigo never should have had two swords as he only ever truly had one zanpakuto spirit. This is all just conjecture though, don't get all fan boy on me if you disagree, just tell me your thoughts. Unfortunately until Kubo comes out and explains everything in detail, theories and conjecture are gonna run rampant.
as for abillity the option of temporerally stoppng time compleetly reasoning: previously his bankai's massivly increses his speed (batte wiht byakuya is a prim example) during the battle uryu had with mayuri it was stated the the quinzy "flashstep" is better then the shinigami in terms of potential (not countig the skill of the character him/her self) over time ichigo should manage to increse his speed with training, and when finally gettng his ultimate bankai (not dangai bankai) his speedcould reach light speed or at least close to that effetivly slowing time to a holt on cost of his stamina resulting in his limitation in bankai
lame given the fact that the bankai should come from his hollow shinigami side given the fact his quincy side was crippling him from his true potential
me too... i would have wanted the bow-blade bankai shooting the silver arrowhead theory most like with his hollow powers showing as a gran rey style jagged energy emanating from his wrist while he pulls back a chain drawstring to shoot an arrow shaped attack,with like a getsuga slash arrowhead with the cero as the shaft of the arrow and the gran rey style energy off shoots making the feathered end of it (like the swastika in his fullbring and og bankai and some of the successor forms) that'd be WAY over stating the point that all his power is working in harmony but it'd still be better than this

chads power kinda came out too in the form of his grandpa or something. so i guess muramasa draws out the dominant power in his victims soul. which was old man zangetsu at the moment. why it didnt work on ichigos hollow spirit/true power after muramasa tried again? pssh beats me lol
What the final Arc taught me was even when someone reaches Bankai it can still evolve or have extra steps toshiro being the example so what if Ichigo using Bankai served as a catalyst to meld both his Quincy and Hollow powers with a stronger Bond for stronger atk output
Yeah i know that, But it has to have a practical purpose beyond just the name. Like with Ichigo's original bankai you could spin it using the chain. Here is just seems odd that the chain forms a "loop" on the back of the sword. It is there for a reason.
While Ichigo was running through the gargantuan with Unohana , he claimed that the lenght of the chain along with the constitution of his clothing showed , how much reiatsu and therefor , how much power he had left. According to this, the chain on his new/true bankai might refer through its connection back to the sword to unlimited lenght and so ,unlimited power.
Weeb here to report, I honestly still think the arc was good, wasn't perfect, had some things I hated, but I think it was mostly because kubo was rushed lol.

I've just recently discovered your channel and I love it. very in depth and entertaining. one thing I've noticed is you seem to think Byakuya is slightly over rated lol. personally I can see why he is so popular in the states here. if you watch he has the most character development over the series. almost a complete 180 from his introduction and his Bankai suits him perfectly. it's elegant like himself, quick, deadly and unassuming. all traits he himself shows each time he's presented. he's such a deep character in the series and shown so much change which is why I think fans relate to him and favor him. on a deeper subconscious level he embodies what alot of people desire which is change into a better person who others look up to and respect. but this is just my own personal view of course lol. thank you for your channel

Juha sais that ichigos true SHIKAI is as powerful as the post dangai training ichigo thingy. So no its not the apex of his power that would be the allmighty shatter tensa zangetsu.
I think Ichigos Bankai should have had two forms one a White Fullbring type Tensa Zangetsu with no chain symbolizing the full release of his powers that increases his abilities the way his Dangai form did and a Black Quincy Bow that can fire Getsuga Tenshou, Quincy Arrows and Cero separately or combined.
For some reason, this popped up on my feed...So I decided to watch the again. However, I just thought of something while watching this. I wonder is Kubo was going for the amount that Yhwach couldn't suppress in Ichigo's inner world, as the amount he couldn't suppress in the outside world as well.
I really like the bow idea with the two blades coming together and the chain being the string. I would have loved to see a final attack like the Getsuga Tensho where he makes an arrow of spirit energy while the bow blade is glowing, and firing the arrow pulls all the energy with it, creating a Getsuga with this concentrated power at the arrow tip with a blinding speed and a piercing power beyond anything they had seen at this point.
An idea i had was to have the big blade 'twin' out and become a bow while using the smaller blade by stretching it out into an arrow, think Archer from Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

You mean Shunpo, Sonido, and Hirenkyaku. But Sonido is exclusive to Arrancar and Ichigo is not an Arrancar, and Hirenkyaku requires some time to master by Quincy and Ichigo has never used it before. The only Quincy ability he used is Blut Vene.

Remember that Mugetsu is the most powerful ability of zangetsu and can only be used while the hollow and the quincy power are fused , so this happened before ichigo has learned his final getsuga tenshou but after this we couldn't see his sword because it has no form in the begining ... and now we know why , ichigo's past was not clear so the sword keep hided inside him awaiting to Wake up with his quincy powers and become a permanent power. fearing this massive power now fully reached , juha bach couldn't challenge him with power and used the ''A'' power to erase ichigo's bankai existence.

From what i remember, Ichigo's shikai was only made of his Quincy power and his Bankai was Old Zangetsu letting some of his Shinigami powers leak some more, that's why it was so much easier for the Hollow to take over his body in that form.
It's a what if ichigo went the Quincy route and combined all his powers with that I don't like it it doesn't suit him at all ichigos always used a sword and ichigos soul reaper appearance is iconic his character is soul reaper related the Quincy stuff is more of a support than anything

According to chains, as far as I remember, in one of anime chapters it was told that the chains (or also shikai ribbon) represents his "power level" (or sth like that, lenghtening with overall power increase), similar to his bankai suit representing his power left
I mean, that's what it seems to be. I find it so mindboggling and strange that the main character's finale Bankai never got a proper explanation. Sure, Ichigo explained to Byakuya back at the beginning of the series, what his Bankai does - but that was back when he wasn't even using his real Zanpakuto. All we got was an evolution of his Zanpakuto throughout the series - a big reveal that he finally obtains his true power and then no true explanation of what it technically does. Kubo wasted a lot of time breaking his Zanpakuto at the tail end of the series - when that could have been used for something better..
Abx2 That's what he told Byakuya way back int he Soul Society arc. He was using a false Bankai. After obtaining his Asauchi and his true Zanpakuto - It's not clear as to if that is still the case. Literally all we were given was a relentless evolution of his Zanpakuto changing designs over and over throughout the series - with no legit explanation of what it does or what it can do Post-gaining his true powers.
i think that "zangetsu" (quincy) is still restricting his power and that could explain why only the white part broke. this may mean that "zangetsu" is not truly giving him the full extent of this quincy powers for the same reason that he restricted the power before. just a theory. so if that is what is going on then he may have to go in and confront his quincy power and during the fight you see the full extent of just how powerful "zangetsu" is then when ichigo finally gains full control over his quincy power. the true final getsuga (combination of quincy , hallow, and soul reaper powers) is used on ywach and even if he can see it coming there would be no way to stop it.
It would have been pretty cool if Ichigo could absorb reishi from his surroundings, and fire an energy blast consisting of a quincy arrow behind a gran rey cero and getsuga jujisho.
And about the abilities , Ichigo's Bankai is mostly raw power but his Getsuga Tensho ability. That is like a boost to his swing that manifests in a reishi-type form. Imagine it like he swings his sword, the force of the swing is amplified ALOT and it shows as a half-moon type of an attack (therefore the moon in the name). That's the whole purpose of the chain / cloth in every one of his forms. He uses it to like spin the sword to amplify the swing even more. JUST LIKE his hollow form did when he was first introduced and stuff he was holding the sword by the cloth and spinning it to amplify it. That's how Ichigo destroyed the Sokyoku hill also
The chain on his new bankai is connected to the sword at both ends so he couldn't possibly use it to swing around like hollow Ichigo did. Also the chain on his first bankai was way to short to swing around. Additionally Ichigo's zanpakuto has never shown to have any kind of ability at all. Outside of of him just getting overall stronger with each release he has never shown to have an ability like ice or fire. Even swords that are based on physical attacks like Komamura or Kuchiki have an ability.
What about this. Ichigo simply stabs the very finest edge of the tip of his blade into the ground. Ground instantly starts cracking and glowing for miles around before numerous chains emerged and become attached to the enemy’s, even seeking them out if Ichigo already has some of their blood in his blade. Before pulling them into the center as Ichigo jumps high into the air. Then from the epicenter massive nuclear explosion the size of a hydrogen bomb going off hits them. And the further he drives his Zanpakto the stronger the blast power.
Ichigos bankai also affected his clothes, right? Maybe the more of a certain power he uses, his entire appearance and weapon/ clothes alter to look like that. He uses Quincy techniques, his clothes and bankai turn white/blue, etc. He also should have some reason for those chains
18:45- As for me, Boundary slicing- the ability to slice through boundaries- even metaphysical ones like time, fate, etc- something simple with a lot of versatility, like maybe a handy portal to go between places without Kisuke's aid or even dimension slicing- tearing apart the structure of an entity, regardless of divine/demonic/extra-dimensional material they're made of. Yu Yu Hakusho was an inspiration for Bleach, so having a similar ability to Kuwabara's would be a nice homage, which would be more expanded upon in the final arc. This would explain why Yhwach, a future alterer would be so freaked enough to immediately negate it any chance he got.
Maybe Ichigo's True Bankai is the power of Exceed. He went Mugetsu to exceed Aizen's haigoku and ended up taking Yuha down with one swipe in a similar way. Combine Quincy, Hollow, FullBring and Shinigami and you get a Bankai that simply lifts you to a higher level than your opponent.
I'm totally one of those people you're sorry for! It's been years since I've been caught up on all my favorite anime/manga and because of channels like yours I'm able to keep in the loop at least a little bit. For me, most series end up ruining themselves or severely botching the endings, therefore being able to click on a 20 min video and check in on my characters is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
did we forget the fact that he took his holllow and quincy powers? the reason it turned into his old shikai is because he was just a shinigami back then, and thats all he was then. he is just a shinigami now, no quincy, no hollow, just a regular shikai
What was the point of making Ichigo part Quincy? All it did was give him a connection to the villain, that's it. He never once uses a single Quincy ability in this whole arc. So basically it was a plot point that went nowhere. Like Uryu joining the Vandenreich, that went nowhere too.
The point was that Ichigo is the only one that is a hybrid from all races in bleach world,so he's kinda like an anti-soul king because soul king was the one created all the races from his reiatsu.That's why Yhwatch used him to kill the soul king and that's why he was the only one who could kill the new soul king.Also he used blut vein in the final battle to kickstart his hollow powers for some reason.
It does partially explain why ichigo is so powerful for no clear reason. quincy's absorb the reiatsu in their surroundings, not always consciously as shown when uryu removes his gloves and loses any ability to regulate it, and hollows consume souls, absorbing their reiatsu to become stronger. so, you have his quincy side taking in reiatsu, and then his hollow side consuming it so that instead of dispersing it he grows stronger, this is why ichigo's strength increases so rapidly when he's in an area with higher levels of reiatsu, aka soul society or hueco mundo.
That moment when nobody EVER noticed the similarities between Tensa Zangetsu, a weapon that pulls all its power into one compact shape, and every single Quincy thing ever seen.
Now that I think about it, wouldn't it be better if Ichigo had a 2nd bankai considering that he has one for his shinigami and hollow powers and the other for his Quincy powers. Probably going to be some armor with no bow or just have his blades in a different formation to get the 2nd bankai and he can easily switch between the 2 bankais
I remember very clearly reading that chapter the day it came out. I legit thought that I missed something, like I skipped a page or a page was missing. I even started two chapters before it just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Then it finally set in that I wasn't.
Ichigo new bankai power should of been . Totally Broken- Steals any ability for a short amount of time from quincy to shinigami bankais and use it to his fullest capability. The mugestsu 2 should of been his end game which has the force to stop all gods and should of been how he stopped him but ehh. Ichigo riatsu should of reached such insane levels that it hurt others to even sense it and that would of been how i would of ended it with ichigo totally going all out.
Yes omg, and then after that he doesn't lose his powers but instead he has to stay in Soul Society like Kyoraku said since his power would damage the real world. That would have been a perfect fix to the whole fuck up of the story.
Ichigos reiatsu was totally insane though. They all but tell us at the end of the series if ichigo werent sealed, everything on earth would be vaporised by his spiritual pressure. Him literally existing wouldve wiped the planet of life
I think what Kudo did was backtrack. Ichigo's quincy powers were taken away by Yhwach so he no longer had his "limiter." Whatever power Ichigo had was now fully at his command as a hollow/shinigami mix or just as a shinigami. The revision back to his old shikai is because he isn't in bankai at that time. He's without the quincy influence so his sword reverted to it's more pure form without Old man Zangetsu's influence. If he were to bankai I'd imagine it would be either back to his original form or his Mugetsu form. He didn't really need to bankai with the final swing because Yhwach had all his power sealed at that moment. I'd imagine if he had it would have been like taking a bazooka to a fly.
Maybe Yuha acidentaly set up his own death in the future, since he wasn't aware that was an actual future sight and not a dream, and he just let it go/somehow made it real.

As ichigo's bankai shatteres have the shards fly at yuhaw tearing the very fabric of space and time each shards reflect surface a window showing moments from the past yuhaw chuckle's "your out of your league bo..." His speech interrupted by Ichigos ✊ shattering his jaw this fist coming from a shard displaying the confrontation between ichigo and those thug's from chapter 1
It really kinda shows how strong the bankai was though. It was so powerful ywhach decided to get rid of one of the only troublesome weapons that exist to him, a being that existed across all timelines at the same time. One who also absorbed the soul King, and threatened the destruction of all three of their worlds purely by existing. I agree, it's an absolute shame we didn't see anything more from it, other than the Gran Rey getsuga. Which in itself is terrifying, but still not quite at the same level as Mugen.
For anyone who is interested, here's my opinion. The reason Tensa Zangetsu shattered into the original Zangetsu was because even though Tsukishima was able to repair the sword, he was not able to restore Ichigo's Quincy and Hollow powers which were taken by Yhwach, Also making the blade no longer a true bankai. Therefore, when Ichigo fought Yhwach, he was only fighting with Tensa's physical blade and not the spiritual power that it once had (seeing as how he lost his hollow and quincy powers). So when Ichigo landed the fatal blow on Yhwach, the rest of the outer blade gave away, because Ichigo was using his core/true shinigami power (represented by his first shikai), also known as the portion that Ichigo's inner quincy power could not suppress.
@@Mojospider2099 Ichigo never says that his shinigami powers and hollow powers were one. He only refers to his hollow powers as being mixed in with them. That's why when Ichigo explains the nature of the new Zangetsu to Yhwach, he states that they were forged from the quincy power he inherited from Masaki, and the shinigami power he inherited from his dad that mixed with his inner hollow, which are represented by the quincy Zangetsu and White Zangetsu. But when we see Ichigo's thoughts while Yhwach's taking his powers away, we don't see White Zangetsu, we see the hollow that infected Masaki, indicating that the hollow portion was still distinct. Alongside the fact that up until Ichigo first hollowfied against Byakuya on Soukyoku Hill, no one was able to sense Ichigo's hollow powers. Implying that Ichigo was able to use his shinigami powers without automatically tapping into his hollow powers.
I think the Tensa Zangetsu chain represents the chain attached to his soul before it ate itself and he underwent the Hollowfication process. Ichigo's hollow powers always revealed themselves when he was using his bankai, like his getsuga tensho resembling a cero, or when the hollow interfered with his fight with Byakuya, so it could be a cool little call back
so I'm the guy you feel sorry for but I think the next ability should go something like this. Ichigo draws his smaller sword down the length of his larger one. the blade on either side of the larger one spread out to resemble a long crossbow as he draws the small blade back. he fires the small blade into his enemy. he pulls on the chain and rips out the persons soul, sucking it into the blade as it flies back to ichigo. Ichigo then relieves the powers and abilities of whoever's soul he takes. Call it the devourer of heaven. Makes him godlike and the reason zangetsu held back his power
I think it's more like a representation of Ichigo's natural talent, vs having it reforged. When it's reforged, it's not the way his powers were meant to be. So, it shatters, and the part that manages to hold up is the part that's originally there. His shikai. And, as he proceeds, he'll learn to repair it himself. Kind of like Ichigo's ladder to immortality, so he can approach Aizen's level of mastery. Also, the power I'd like to see is Ichigo's sword have a chain, and he uses it more like how hollow ichigo did with his shikai, when they first fought inside Ichigo's mind. I mean, it was his shikai, but Hollow ichigo used the cloth strip to swing it around, hurl it, twirl it, and fight like a fucking savage, keeping Ichigo totally on guard.
It sounds like Kubo was just all tapped out on the creativity in regards to Bleach. He had a great series and created this interesting world with cool looking characters and techniques... but I honestly think that the Final Battle with Aizen was everything he had left. You can only add so much paint to the canvas before it starts to work against you rather than contribute to it. It's like Bob Ross painting a picture with an idea already in mind (Shinigami/Soul Society)... and as he's painting he gets all these new ideas (Hollow Powers/Hueco Mundo).. and from that has a better idea on how he wants the end to look (Defeating the overpowered long-time villain that is Aizen). A perfect bow to end the work of art. But then for no reason, other than he wants to keep painting on that one picture, he decides to paint over certain areas and add more things that really don't fit with the rest of the art (Fullbrings/Quincy powers)... and now he just has this confusing mess that has gone on for too long. Just start on a new canvas Kubo! You were done with bleach when Aizen was defeated.
I'm a little late with the comment, but I hope it gets to you. For me it was always obvious that Ishida reverted the damage done to Ichigo's bankai on his own power loosing it in result. Ichigo then restored his original zanpaktou(mid swing). Good job to Ishida on his quick reactions. What do you think?

Tensa Zangetsu (Blood war) - manifestation of Ichigo's bankai whilst all of his powers work in tandem, to their fullest extent
Tensa Zangetsu (Soul society arc) - has a stubby, small black chain at the end of the handle.
Tensa Zangetsu (Blood war) - has a fully extended chain, reaching to two separate points of the blade, not loose or cut off
the fact that Ichigo's chain reaches what appears to be full maturity / length once his powers are supposed to no longer be limited just seems like a simple connection.

PLATINUM yeah I just rematches the video after 2 years and realized too, that the Soul Society Arc Bankai had a broken chain that represented that not all Ichigo’s powers are working together.
Then later in the Blood War Arc the chain is connected showing that Hollow, Human and Quincy powers are working together perfectly.
Now design wise of the Blood War Bankai. I kinda see it from the stand point of, Ichigo had his original Shikai with him since the Rukia Rescue Arc aka, Soul Society Arc. Now that I think about it, every single time Ichigo goes into a fight with his Shikai everything is fine until he gets overwhelmed then goes into Bankai. So maybe this is my guess, that the new Bankai takes that form subconsciously. I mean come on, Ichigo has seen the thin blade version of Tensa Zangetsu always got destroyed, and had seen the hardly (I’m going off memory here. Haven’t touched Bleach again since the last page was scanned and readable on Manga Rock) the Shikai break. So I guess, Ichigo subconsciously see his old Shikai form more stable then his old Bankai. Which intel makes his new Bankai, have the form of his Shikai... just covered by a sharp blade guard.
New Bankai symbolism wise? Maybe it’s the fact how even while moving forward to the future, it’s good to reflect what happened in the past and learn from it. I mean that’s all I can think is what Kubo is trying to tell the readers.

Think of Tensa Zangetsu's name. "Heaven Chain Slaying Moon". Tensa, the "heaven chain", is what keeps Zangetsu, Ichigo's power, bound. But in the reforged Bankai, that chain has been separated from the inner part of the weapon. Tensa and Zangetsu are now distinct from each other. The real question is this; what happens when Tensa, and ONLY Tensa, is completely destroyed?
A completely unbound Zangetsu, that's what happens. It seems to me that this Bankai was MEANT to be broken, in that specific way.

Food for Thought: The Mugen bankai that Ichigo attained to fight hougyouku Aizen was actually a form of Quincy: Letzt Stil, hence why he lost his power after using it.

Ichigos' whole thing was about condensing reiatsu and ploughing it into someone. The most obvious thing Kubo could have done was to give Ichigos' true power the ability to perpetually remove reiatsu from the surrounding space and condense it within himself for awesome god powers. All of yhwachs' powers were reiatsu based so it would have ended in a good old sword dual......or the end of the soul society and all of soul kind because of Ichigos' soul void bankai......
That would actually be a good bankai for him.

"It was a thing back in the day when old man Zangetsu said something about disliking the rain. Now, back then when we thought old man Zangetsu was Ichigo's soul, it was supposed to be an uplifting sentiment where it says when Ichigo is sad, Zangetsu is sad, but that Zangetsu is always there and Ichigo will never be alone. It was a touching sentiment. But then we learn old man Zangetsu was actually Ywach, and so it makes you wonder...what could he have really meant there?
So the theory basically goes that Ywach disliked the rain because the rain was a representation of Ichigo's powers that Ywach was failing to contain. Perhaps when Ichigo gets emotional, his powers flare up or something, idk, so it seems to rain inside. So Ichigo's real true bankai when he finally unleashes it would somehow have something to do with the rain that Ywach disliked so much. I'm not 100% sure how you'd utilize rain in a way that seems usable, but perhaps it could have been another metaphor. Like, Ichigo's spirtual pressure is so strong that it is condensing spiritual energy and falling like rain drops around him in the massive area that his spiritual aura reaches to. Something like that. The rain idea was from a comment I read years ago, but I expanded on it to make this concept.
That doesn't say much about his sword itself though, or how I wanted his powers to interact. Well, this could be how they interact. We know Shinigami have their own internal spiritual energy, and quincy utilize outside spiritual energy, plus there's his hollow side which are like Shinigami in a way but different. So we could say he has this aura that draws spiritual energy to him, and that his own inner energy is radiating out creating this pressure that is condensing the energy into "rain" and perhaps this energy is being tainted with his hollow energy which somehow bla bla creates this thick fog of reishi rain that burns his opponent?
Idk, tbh, I never fully formed this idea, and am in fact making shit up as I type this to try to complete the thought. I don't know. Something like the above. I like the idea of the quincy aspect drawing in spiritual energy toward Ichigo, possibly passively drawing energy out of his opponents. Then his own energy's aura leaking out and passively condensing said spiritual energy around him to such an extent that it becomes nearly physical and begins falling like rain. The hard part is figuring out how his hollow powers could interact with that. Hollows devour spiritual energy, so perhaps instead of simply drawing the energy to himself to use it as a weapon as a quincy might, perhaps Ichigo "devours" the rain (a mix of his own and his opponents energy) thus culminating in a subtle but ever present growth in strength as the fight progresses (matched by a gradual weakening of the opponent).
This would have been pretty neat to use against Ywach since the dude was insanely powerful. That could be why Ywach was afraid of the rain, he knew it was the only innate ability that could effectively bring him down even after he'd gotten all his upgrades.

I think the original Bankai made more sense, because it was all of his available power compressed into one small blade meaning he's exponentially faster and a single strike is equivalent to a full power Getsuga Tenshou from his Shikai.

I think the amount of power that Zangetsu would've sealed is WAAAAYY more than 80%. He's insanely powerful after the Royal Guard training. I wouldn't be surprised if his original power with his first bankai was only like 3% or 4% of his actual power. If he already had 20% he would've trashed literally everyone up to maybe like Second Release Ulquiorra, even then I'm sure he could've beat 2nd release UIquiorra.

Your overestimating zangetsu a bit. It's very strong but it's still young compared to the Captain's who've trained for hundreds of years. Hitsugya's bankia was stronger than Ichigo's
@@ShakaZ3D Eh. Tensa Zangetsu was purely his Shinigami powers, which were being suppressed by his Quincy powers because they were tied to his hollow powers. When he had a portion of his Hollow powers released in a more complete form he became his Second Hollow form. By the end of the Blood War Arc he had all of his powers combined. Hollow, Shinigami, Quincy, and Fullbring to achieve his full power.

It wasnt really just shonen tho, he was already sick at the time, which made his life extremely unorganized and fucked.
Problem is bankai isnt only thing rushed, almost every second chapter has something rushed and unfinished, almost every major battle has deus ex machina at it, not SJ fault, he just doesnt make it realistically unrealistic, maybe hard to understand.
Missed opportunity if you ask me. Should have been a mugetsu followed by a representation of his bankai training in Uruhara's basement. Pitch black with little white swords everywhere. Repeated attacks, shattering. Each shatter rids him of weakness and it stretches out into infinite time. It becomes a battle of reishi, like Aizen said, and reishi is inherently timeless. Ywach said that he had the same power as anyone else to choose the future, its just that has was greater. To choose a future far out. And in that environmental effect bankai, within the Mugetsu, Ichigo could just find a future that Ywach could never see or understand. That Ichigo had the same power as Ywach, because they were bonded in spirit. But Ichigo's manifestation isn't some cheap parlor trick used without willpower. Ichigo would need to purge himself of countless weaknesses to get to that future, defying despair.
Its the same infinite resolve required to beat Aizen. And Aizen would witness it, being completely shocked that such a thing was possible.
I like this, it would have been amazing and Ichigo would have to stay in Soul Society as a result of his new powers just like Kyoraku said.

@@riven4121 True, very true, and LOL. I mean after the final Getsuga Tensho, Ichigo's zanpakuto was more about appearance than anything reliable. It just didn't bring anything to the table unlike everybody else did in the final arc. To me personally it should of been all 5 warpowers (Ichigo, Kenpachi, Kisuke, Aizen, and Ichibe) together (and Uryu) that defeated Ywach. Makes more sense and would of been a better fight to behold.

If you remember back to the beginning of Bleach, Rukia explains that Ichigo's large Zanpakuto was symbolic of the fact he had insane Reiatsu and couldn't control it all. Ichigo's Bankai was more symbolic that his insane power was finally able to contained within the Zanpaku-Tô, but Ichigo's final Zanpaku-tô is even more symbolic. The Shikai is symbolic of Ichigo accepting his Shinigami/Hollow Powers, and the Bankai is symbolic of his rise to a power level so beyond compare that White Ichigo, Old Man Zangetsu, AND Ichigo all couldn't contain it, and the White outline is symbolic of his Quincy Powers and how they limit the Hollow Powers, and when the white shatters, it's him pulling on his reservoir so much that EVERY OUNCE of his Quincy powers was used up in the attack. Remember, Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou was white when it was comprised of his Quincy Power, and black when comprised of his Shinigami/Hollow Power.
Okay I think I figured this all out. Even though his hollow should have been bonded to his quincy powers, when Ichigo first gained his powers, his hollow wasn't active, so his quincy powers merged with his shinigami powers, creating his shikai. Once his hollow powers were unleashed, that took prominence in bankai. Fullbring is derived from hollow influence and, even though I'm sure it did boost his physical powers, I think it limited Quincy Zangetsu's control even further. The merger was fixed when he got his new swords, so that his hollow and quincy powers were ripped out together as they were given to him by Misaki. What was left was just plain shinigami powers which was what we saw once he took the final swing at Ywach
Quincy powers and hollows powers cannot merge together hence why masaki was dying and isshin gave up his powers to seal the hollow powers.
Well, it was atleast strong enough to be deemed a threat to juha to constantly break it, and not to mention it cleave him in half when Aizen used Kyoka suigetsu, so despite it not doing much, it really is clearly the most powerful version of it.

I would have had something like him wearing the Quincy shadow, similar to how his incomplete fullbring looked. Chad even mentioned how his bankai always changed his outfit. He always got a new coat or something.
At the end of the Fullbringer arc, I believe Ichigo had more access to Zangetsu. Because the Fullbringer training was basically him accessing his hollow powers that are also his shinigami powers. Also Ichigo basic sword design changed, he had those markings on his body, but most of all, his "bankai" had hollow aspects to it. The white bracelets and the sword looking like one of White's arms. So without a doubt in my mind, the Fullbringer arc served three purposes. 1) Return Ichigo powers 2) Make the use of the hollow mask unnecessary 3) Raise his base power level (how much we have no way of knowing)
Which is exactly why I don't see why people try to right off the Fullbring arc as pointless. I liked it and I saw the purpose of it. I liked the idea of Ichigo not having to basically become a spirit to have access to his powers, especially with the added benefit of combining his Soul Reaper powers with Fullbring/Hollow powers. He was too limited in combat having to rely on his mask which had a time limit.

But now it seems like he used a fusion of the Vasto Lorde form and his regular form against Yhwach. But it just seems wasted on him because Zangetsu (White/True Zangetsu) always had better battle instincts than Ichigo. I loved Hollowfication and the techniques it gives but Ichigo has little ingenuity in battle. Zangetsu uses the cloth to throw the blade like a flail and Ichigo never attempts that. Just spams Getsuga Tensho in every fight. Hiyori used this cool Triple Cero against Gerard while Hollowfied and I was like damn. And Rose used the cool KIdo against Gillian's.
I would have wanted Ichigo to show more variation in combat. I mean, ANY kind of variation. He should have had multiple forms to his bankai (in a different way that he ended up having). Like dual swords, a double-bladed sword, a single blade and a bow. Stuff like that. Maybe it should have turned into a machine gun or a boombox

The new Tensa Zangetsu should have allowed Ichigo to see everything, EVERYTHING, in slow motion and possess speed above speed. Speed was the former Tensa Zangetsu's ability so why not have the ability to see everything so slow that to everyone, Ichigo is moving like the Flash... LIKE THE FLASH. That would be crazy. I don't care if he can see the future, Yhwach would have a problem just even hitting Ichigo if he can can move like lightning and react faster than anything he tries! Goku Speed, Saitama Speed!

Why can't people read. Bach stated when he seen Ichigo new shikai dual swords for the first time, that he is back on the level he fought Aizen when ichigo cut the soul king in half.

It is stated Ichigo has overwhelming Reiatsu, but also an overwhelming lack of control. If ichigo had control I do honestly doubt the force of his sword strikes would destroy a mountain side casually.
That being said, Ichigo now has control over his Reiatsu as confirmed by Kirio Hikifune, a Royal Guard member, Ichigo also consumed foods made of Reiatsu and that acted as a sort of boost.
Yes, Dangai Ichigo is immensely powerful and can be compared to the apex of what Ichigo at least in his Shinigami form is capable of, but he's also capable of much much more. His bankai was enough to threaten a Soul King empowered Yhwach to the point he went to destroy it,,and it even cut Yhwach in half.
That on its own displays how much power he has in his training, and I honestly don't doubt that he does have superior potential, due to his Zanpakuto changing.
Since all that ichigo's zanpakuto does is to cut through things, I would have liked if his bankai were the maximum expression of that, to cut anything, to cut the futures that yhwach has seen, to cut his powers, to shatter yhwach reiatsu.
The final scene would be Aizen saying that using his zanpakuto now would be useless as ichigo would cut his illusions, saying that he regrets not being able to see if his ultimate creation(ichigo) is able to cut the world itself and recreating it at his will, with an insane smile.
Interesting concept and that would mean it would be the opposite of Tsukishimas book of the end where he inserts himself into the past where as ichigos just erases their future.
The ability to be unbreakable would have been good.

I read the whole scene with the "broken bankai who turn very similar to the shikai" as "Quincy's powers (in the form of a young Yhwach) failed to overcome all the Shinigami's power and leave it unbound the part that made his Shikai, Yhwach himself failed to completely destroy his Shinigami's power and a part remains to cut him"...like a metaphor for the Quincy's power failing to seal completely Shinigami's power.

I always preferred his bankai with the black katana and the robe, represented Ichigo's hero side and it was very iconic to him throughout the series. Though i do agree it was totally under powered, and i'm disappointed my favorite character in the series was shoved under the rug because of Kubo having to rush and shounen jump being nazi's.
I only have speculations like everyone else about this but the way I see it is that due to Yhwach taking Ichigo's Hollow and Qunicy powers he changed Ichigo shinigami powers into their pure form. As Ichigo never left his bankai when Yhwach broke the sword it didn't change it's appearance, rather the physical remnants of his Hollow and Quincy power were still covering his sword (this to me also implies that his powers were never truly melded into one, rather they simply overlap each other.) so when the weakened Yhwach tried to stop a blade he thought was broken he held back, when the physical remnants fall off the sword Yhwach realized his folly for not truly understanding his own power and his inability to read it correctly. Ichigo's true bankai was probably always meant to be the shikai Zangetzu we saw him use all the time and his bankai Zangetzu was actually the form the sword takes when trying to do the FTG. It may be more accurate to say that Ichigo never had a constant shikai release, rather his true power was so immense that he had constant bankai release.
Ichigo's new swords during the Fullbring arc were probably the Hollows interpretation of how it believed Ichigo's shinigami swords should look as it was now the dominant of Ichigo three powers. Now you are probably thinking this has to be crap, but we were told that Ichigo's hollow absorbed and become Ichigo's zanpakuto spirit but if that was truly the case then when Yhwach took back the Quincu powers and for some odd reason took his Hollow powers as well that would have reverted Ichigo to being a normal human since his Hollow and shinigami powers are supposed to one, taking the Hollow powers should take the shinigami powers also. But thats not the case, Ichigo still has his shinigami powers implying that all the given information about his powers being melded into one were false, rather they simply stacked on top of each other. (Kubo does like to give us lots of false information and then give us contradicting information later)
For the most recent arc the long Shikai sword we see Ichigo use was probably the closest we were gonna see to Ichigo's true Shikai, this is probably due to Ichigo having a true zanpakuto this time around and the effect his other powers had on it, part of the blade splintered off to represent his Quincy power and the hole in the long sword represented his hollow powers. Ichigo never should have had two swords as he only ever truly had one zanpakuto spirit.
This is all just conjecture though, don't get all fan boy on me if you disagree, just tell me your thoughts. Unfortunately until Kubo comes out and explains everything in detail, theories and conjecture are gonna run rampant.

over time ichigo should manage to increse his speed with training, and when finally gettng his ultimate bankai (not dangai bankai) his speedcould reach light speed or at least close to that effetivly slowing time to a holt on cost of his stamina resulting in his limitation in bankai

What the final Arc taught me was even when someone reaches Bankai it can still evolve or have extra steps toshiro being the example so what if Ichigo using Bankai served as a catalyst to meld both his Quincy and Hollow powers with a stronger Bond for stronger atk output

Yeah i know that, But it has to have a practical purpose beyond just the name. Like with Ichigo's original bankai you could spin it using the chain. Here is just seems odd that the chain forms a "loop" on the back of the sword. It is there for a reason.

While Ichigo was running through the gargantuan with Unohana , he claimed that the lenght of the chain along with the constitution of his clothing showed , how much reiatsu and therefor , how much power he had left.
According to this, the chain on his new/true bankai might refer through its connection back to the sword to unlimited lenght and so ,unlimited power.
Weeb here to report, I honestly still think the arc was good, wasn't perfect, had some things I hated, but I think it was mostly because kubo was rushed lol.

I've just recently discovered your channel and I love it. very in depth and entertaining. one thing I've noticed is you seem to think Byakuya is slightly over rated lol. personally I can see why he is so popular in the states here. if you watch he has the most character development over the series. almost a complete 180 from his introduction and his Bankai suits him perfectly. it's elegant like himself, quick, deadly and unassuming. all traits he himself shows each time he's presented. he's such a deep character in the series and shown so much change which is why I think fans relate to him and favor him. on a deeper subconscious level he embodies what alot of people desire which is change into a better person who others look up to and respect. but this is just my own personal view of course lol. thank you for your channel

Juha sais that ichigos true SHIKAI is as powerful as the post dangai training ichigo thingy. So no its not the apex of his power that would be the allmighty shatter tensa zangetsu.
I think Ichigos Bankai should have had two forms one a White Fullbring type Tensa Zangetsu with no chain symbolizing the full release of his powers that increases his abilities the way his Dangai form did and a Black Quincy Bow that can fire Getsuga Tenshou, Quincy Arrows and Cero separately or combined.
For some reason, this popped up on my feed...So I decided to watch the again.
However, I just thought of something while watching this. I wonder is Kubo was going for the amount that Yhwach couldn't suppress in Ichigo's inner world, as the amount he couldn't suppress in the outside world as well.
I really like the bow idea with the two blades coming together and the chain being the string. I would have loved to see a final attack like the Getsuga Tensho where he makes an arrow of spirit energy while the bow blade is glowing, and firing the arrow pulls all the energy with it, creating a Getsuga with this concentrated power at the arrow tip with a blinding speed and a piercing power beyond anything they had seen at this point.
An idea i had was to have the big blade 'twin' out and become a bow while using the smaller blade by stretching it out into an arrow, think Archer from Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works
What about mugetsu but with ichigo using quincy final form where he borrows the reiatsu of his allies and all the people in soul society
You know how when Ichigo used his bankai the first time it was about his speed it would've been cool if he combined flash step soniado and the Quincy one (I can't spell it)

They're all kinda the same ability, and Ichigo has already proved he is so fast that he can 'pass by' barriers like nothing.
You mean Shunpo, Sonido, and Hirenkyaku. But Sonido is exclusive to Arrancar and Ichigo is not an Arrancar, and Hirenkyaku requires some time to master by Quincy and Ichigo has never used it before. The only Quincy ability he used is Blut Vene.

Remember that Mugetsu is the most powerful ability of zangetsu and can only be used while the hollow and the quincy power are fused , so this happened before ichigo has learned his final getsuga tenshou but after this we couldn't see his sword because it has no form in the begining ... and now we know why , ichigo's past was not clear so the sword keep hided inside him awaiting to Wake up with his quincy powers and become a permanent power. fearing this massive power now fully reached , juha bach couldn't challenge him with power and used the ''A'' power to erase ichigo's bankai existence.

From what i remember, Ichigo's shikai was only made of his Quincy power and his Bankai was Old Zangetsu letting some of his Shinigami powers leak some more, that's why it was so much easier for the Hollow to take over his body in that form.

I mean, that's what it seems to be. I find it so mindboggling and strange that the main character's finale Bankai never got a proper explanation. Sure, Ichigo explained to Byakuya back at the beginning of the series, what his Bankai does - but that was back when he wasn't even using his real Zanpakuto. All we got was an evolution of his Zanpakuto throughout the series - a big reveal that he finally obtains his true power and then no true explanation of what it technically does. Kubo wasted a lot of time breaking his Zanpakuto at the tail end of the series - when that could have been used for something better..

Abx2 That's what he told Byakuya way back int he Soul Society arc. He was using a false Bankai. After obtaining his Asauchi and his true Zanpakuto - It's not clear as to if that is still the case. Literally all we were given was a relentless evolution of his Zanpakuto changing designs over and over throughout the series - with no legit explanation of what it does or what it can do Post-gaining his true powers.
i think that "zangetsu" (quincy) is still restricting his power and that could explain why only the white part broke. this may mean that "zangetsu" is not truly giving him the full extent of this quincy powers for the same reason that he restricted the power before. just a theory. so if that is what is going on then he may have to go in and confront his quincy power and during the fight you see the full extent of just how powerful "zangetsu" is then when ichigo finally gains full control over his quincy power. the true final getsuga (combination of quincy , hallow, and soul reaper powers) is used on ywach and even if he can see it coming there would be no way to stop it.
It would have been pretty cool if Ichigo could absorb reishi from his surroundings, and fire an energy blast consisting of a quincy arrow behind a gran rey cero and getsuga jujisho.

And about the abilities , Ichigo's Bankai is mostly raw power but his Getsuga Tensho ability. That is like a boost to his swing that manifests in a reishi-type form. Imagine it like he swings his sword, the force of the swing is amplified ALOT and it shows as a half-moon type of an attack (therefore the moon in the name). That's the whole purpose of the chain / cloth in every one of his forms. He uses it to like spin the sword to amplify the swing even more. JUST LIKE his hollow form did when he was first introduced and stuff he was holding the sword by the cloth and spinning it to amplify it. That's how Ichigo destroyed the Sokyoku hill also

The chain on his new bankai is connected to the sword at both ends so he couldn't possibly use it to swing around like hollow Ichigo did. Also the chain on his first bankai was way to short to swing around.
Additionally Ichigo's zanpakuto has never shown to have any kind of ability at all. Outside of of him just getting overall stronger with each release he has never shown to have an ability like ice or fire. Even swords that are based on physical attacks like Komamura or Kuchiki have an ability.
What about this. Ichigo simply stabs the very finest edge of the tip of his blade into the ground. Ground instantly starts cracking and glowing for miles around before numerous chains emerged and become attached to the enemy’s, even seeking them out if Ichigo already has some of their blood in his blade. Before pulling them into the center as Ichigo jumps high into the air. Then from the epicenter massive nuclear explosion the size of a hydrogen bomb going off hits them. And the further he drives his Zanpakto the stronger the blast power.
what it means is that once zangetsu has been released from it's sheath, ichigo can use the chain to fight in a manner like hollow ichigo

18:45- As for me, Boundary slicing- the ability to slice through boundaries- even metaphysical ones like time, fate, etc- something simple with a lot of versatility, like maybe a handy portal to go between places without Kisuke's aid or even dimension slicing- tearing apart the structure of an entity, regardless of divine/demonic/extra-dimensional material they're made of. Yu Yu Hakusho was an inspiration for Bleach, so having a similar ability to Kuwabara's would be a nice homage, which would be more expanded upon in the final arc. This would explain why Yhwach, a future alterer would be so freaked enough to immediately negate it any chance he got.
Maybe Ichigo's True Bankai is the power of Exceed. He went Mugetsu to exceed Aizen's haigoku and ended up taking Yuha down with one swipe in a similar way. Combine Quincy, Hollow, FullBring and Shinigami and you get a Bankai that simply lifts you to a higher level than your opponent.
Ywach stated that Ichigo had a truly fearsome Bankai. If he says its truly fearsome, it must be.

It's been years since I've been caught up on all my favorite anime/manga and because of channels like yours I'm able to keep in the loop at least a little bit. did we forget the fact that he took his holllow and quincy powers? the reason it turned into his old shikai is because he was just a shinigami back then, and thats all he was then. he is just a shinigami now, no quincy, no hollow, just a regular shikai
What was the point of making Ichigo part Quincy? All it did was give him a connection to the villain, that's it. He never once uses a single Quincy ability in this whole arc. So basically it was a plot point that went nowhere. Like Uryu joining the Vandenreich, that went nowhere too.

It was already alluded to that Ichigo was a Gemischt Quincy since near the beginning of the series.
The point was that Ichigo is the only one that is a hybrid from all races in bleach world,so he's kinda like an anti-soul king because soul king was the one created all the races from his reiatsu.That's why Yhwatch used him to kill the soul king and that's why he was the only one who could kill the new soul king.Also he used blut vein in the final battle to kickstart his hollow powers for some reason.
It does partially explain why ichigo is so powerful for no clear reason. quincy's absorb the reiatsu in their surroundings, not always consciously as shown when uryu removes his gloves and loses any ability to regulate it, and hollows consume souls, absorbing their reiatsu to become stronger. so, you have his quincy side taking in reiatsu, and then his hollow side consuming it so that instead of dispersing it he grows stronger, this is why ichigo's strength increases so rapidly when he's in an area with higher levels of reiatsu, aka soul society or hueco mundo.
That moment when nobody EVER noticed the similarities between Tensa Zangetsu, a weapon that pulls all its power into one compact shape, and every single Quincy thing ever seen.
Now that I think about it, wouldn't it be better if Ichigo had a 2nd bankai considering that he has one for his shinigami and hollow powers and the other for his Quincy powers. Probably going to be some armor with no bow or just have his blades in a different formation to get the 2nd bankai and he can easily switch between the 2 bankais
I remember very clearly reading that chapter the day it came out. I legit thought that I missed something, like I skipped a page or a page was missing. I even started two chapters before it just to make sure I wasn't going crazy.
Then it finally set in that I wasn't.
Ichigo new bankai power should of been . Totally Broken- Steals any ability for a short amount of time from quincy to shinigami bankais and use it to his fullest capability. The mugestsu 2 should of been his end game which has the force to stop all gods and should of been how he stopped him but ehh.
Ichigo riatsu should of reached such insane levels that it hurt others to even sense it and that would of been how i would of ended it with ichigo totally going all out.

As much as it is bad writing that Ichigo has all 3 powers, if you are going to do it than commit.
I think what Kudo did was backtrack. Ichigo's quincy powers were taken away by Yhwach so he no longer had his "limiter." Whatever power Ichigo had was now fully at his command as a hollow/shinigami mix or just as a shinigami. The revision back to his old shikai is because he isn't in bankai at that time. He's without the quincy influence so his sword reverted to it's more pure form without Old man Zangetsu's influence. If he were to bankai I'd imagine it would be either back to his original form or his Mugetsu form. He didn't really need to bankai with the final swing because Yhwach had all his power sealed at that moment. I'd imagine if he had it would have been like taking a bazooka to a fly.
Maybe Yuha acidentaly set up his own death in the future, since he wasn't aware that was an actual future sight and not a dream, and he just let it go/somehow made it real.

As ichigo's bankai shatteres have the shards fly at yuhaw tearing the very fabric of space and time each shards reflect surface a window showing moments from the past yuhaw chuckle's "your out of your league bo..." His speech interrupted by Ichigos ✊ shattering his jaw this fist coming from a shard displaying the confrontation between ichigo and those thug's from chapter 1

It really kinda shows how strong the bankai was though. It was so powerful ywhach decided to get rid of one of the only troublesome weapons that exist to him, a being that existed across all timelines at the same time. One who also absorbed the soul King, and threatened the destruction of all three of their worlds purely by existing.
I agree, it's an absolute shame we didn't see anything more from it, other than the Gran Rey getsuga. Which in itself is terrifying, but still not quite at the same level as Mugen.

For anyone who is interested, here's my opinion. The reason Tensa Zangetsu shattered into the original Zangetsu was because even though Tsukishima was able to repair the sword, he was not able to restore Ichigo's Quincy and Hollow powers which were taken by Yhwach, Also making the blade no longer a true bankai. Therefore, when Ichigo fought Yhwach, he was only fighting with Tensa's physical blade and not the spiritual power that it once had (seeing as how he lost his hollow and quincy powers). So when Ichigo landed the fatal blow on Yhwach, the rest of the outer blade gave away, because Ichigo was using his core/true shinigami power (represented by his first shikai), also known as the portion that Ichigo's inner quincy power could not suppress.
Why were the Hollow powers taken by Yhwach like wtf...

That's why when Ichigo explains the nature of the new Zangetsu to Yhwach, he states that they were forged from the quincy power he inherited from Masaki, and the shinigami power he inherited from his dad that mixed with his inner hollow, which are represented by the quincy Zangetsu and White Zangetsu. But when we see Ichigo's thoughts while Yhwach's taking his powers away, we don't see White Zangetsu, we see the hollow that infected Masaki, indicating that the hollow portion was still distinct. Alongside the fact that up until Ichigo first hollowfied against Byakuya on Soukyoku Hill, no one was able to sense Ichigo's hollow powers. Implying that Ichigo was able to use his shinigami powers without automatically tapping into his hollow powers.
I think the Tensa Zangetsu chain represents the chain attached to his soul before it ate itself and he underwent the Hollowfication process. Ichigo's hollow powers always revealed themselves when he was using his bankai, like his getsuga tensho resembling a cero, or when the hollow interfered with his fight with Byakuya, so it could be a cool little call back

so I'm the guy you feel sorry for but I think the next ability should go something like this. Ichigo draws his smaller sword down the length of his larger one. the blade on either side of the larger one spread out to resemble a long crossbow as he draws the small blade back. he fires the small blade into his enemy. he pulls on the chain and rips out the persons soul, sucking it into the blade as it flies back to ichigo. Ichigo then relieves the powers and abilities of whoever's soul he takes. Call it the devourer of heaven. Makes him godlike and the reason zangetsu held back his power

I think it's more like a representation of Ichigo's natural talent, vs having it reforged. When it's reforged, it's not the way his powers were meant to be. So, it shatters, and the part that manages to hold up is the part that's originally there. His shikai. And, as he proceeds, he'll learn to repair it himself. Kind of like Ichigo's ladder to immortality, so he can approach Aizen's level of mastery.
Also, the power I'd like to see is Ichigo's sword have a chain, and he uses it more like how hollow ichigo did with his shikai, when they first fought inside Ichigo's mind. I mean, it was his shikai, but Hollow ichigo used the cloth strip to swing it around, hurl it, twirl it, and fight like a fucking savage, keeping Ichigo totally on guard.
It sounds like Kubo was just all tapped out on the creativity in regards to Bleach. He had a great series and created this interesting world with cool looking characters and techniques... but I honestly think that the Final Battle with Aizen was everything he had left. You can only add so much paint to the canvas before it starts to work against you rather than contribute to it. It's like Bob Ross painting a picture with an idea already in mind (Shinigami/Soul Society)... and as he's painting he gets all these new ideas (Hollow Powers/Hueco Mundo).. and from that has a better idea on how he wants the end to look (Defeating the overpowered long-time villain that is Aizen). A perfect bow to end the work of art. But then for no reason, other than he wants to keep painting on that one picture, he decides to paint over certain areas and add more things that really don't fit with the rest of the art (Fullbrings/Quincy powers)... and now he just has this confusing mess that has gone on for too long. Just start on a new canvas Kubo! You were done with bleach when Aizen was defeated.

For me it was always obvious that Ishida reverted the damage done to Ichigo's bankai on his own power loosing it in result. Ichigo then restored his original zanpaktou(mid swing).
