The alcohol pouches are a good proposition. Previously I had to go to a specialty liquor store in order to buy a tiny bottle of sherry to make a soup, and I've had similar issues with cooking wine.
“This is a very tough space” “You are entering a really competitive market place”. These investors say this every single time about every business. Can you name me a market, place, space or industry that is not “competitive and tough”?
Great idea for ppl like myself who don't buy bottles of alcohol at all. Yes it's more expensive but if I bought a bottle of wine or port I wouldn't drink the rest therefore it is less expensive and no waste.
I'm sure all of the self congratulatory back slapping will be of great comfort to those who were'nt selected to appear once on the Den let alone twice. I wonder who they know at the production team ?
Yes I agree. And I find it rather strange with how differently they deal with some pitches. I'm sure in in many other episodes the people are asked who they'd prefer or have in mind and not receive a reaction like that!
Sara was positively fuming after that. You could see it in her facial expression. She was seething. Deborah Meaden kept it professional and left her personality at the door. Good on her.
If I learnt one thing from Gordon Ramsay is that you don’t sell different cuisines in one place. That will just produce a wide range of mediocre food. You have to specialise
people say business isnt personal, its just business, so i think its pathetic that the other dragons took it personally when asked there prefered investors
I hate that bullshit question of "which dragon do you want?". if you don't answer or say all of them they're all like "wow you don't even know what you want for your own business. you don't even know our value? how can I invest if you don't know our value?" and if you do answer the ones you don't like are annoyed at you
Businessman needs to be able to answer tough questions. For example you can say "I want a dragon who likes my products" or "I want one who can help me with marketing". Just be smart.
@@annaagapova3583 So they can ask "tough" questions, but can not handle the reality of only one person being first choice, one being second, one being third, etc. Especially hypocritical when they in the end operate the same way. When they want "to do anything". They will call their first choice first and when they decline call the second choice. It is how every transaction happens in real life. Even more they are often insulted when you ask them about what they can offer or do better compared to another dragon. When in reality that is how you come do a decision when you literally buy anything. They expect you to decide between offers based on nothing though or based on some internetgossip you read about them before you came to the show.
Like for cost of pouches vs a bottle is not relevant for the problem she is trying to solve. It is better to buy a bottle if you are going to use it all but for a one of meal then the pouch is the winner.
Exactly, smaller packages are always more expensive by volume, but they're great if that's all you want. That's exactly the problem she was solving. Irrelevant complaint.
The guy doing the first pitch was a muppet and Deborah really did not like him, especially when he cockily said he "sold drugs" before launching this. Jokes like that are not taken well in the Den and Deborah had a face like thunder. I don't blame her either.
It always annoys me when Peter almost always mentions his other sauce in the past. At least SauceStream was accepted, not the other two. We'll see what'll happen!!
This is quite an interesting discussion actually, that I’ve had with a few chemists. Because you’re correct it does have polymer structure but wasn’t traditionally associated with plastics because it isn’t originally synthesised but made from rubber. If you look at regulations silicone and rubber are stand alone materials governed by other regulations than traditional polymers.
The product USP is clearly that people try one then trust the brand, and can buy mostly from them while maintaining variety. It's a good concept but he's not using it well.
I’d buy the second product. I cook so many meals with recipes that ask for small amounts of alcohol and I don’t drink.
That first pitch's opening line had me expecting a whole other kinda saucy
Same 😂😂
It was cringe😬

I loved the "sold drugs" comment 😂😂
Hahah😂😂
The egos bruised and the hissy fits when the bottle inventors said their first choice. Hilarious
Reggae Reggae Sauce should be number 1 surely
Huge respect to Dragons den media team for giving this a good title so we can learn from their mistakes
What?
“I used to sell drugs” 😂😂
Imagine the day thats a real rags to riches story in the den
I absolutely loved this line 😂😂😂
Luckily where I live, we have wine with different prices and we definitely use the cheapest for cooking.
“Who’s your preferred dragon”
“The one or ones who give us the best offers!”
There ya go!

30:56 man I love Sara
First guy looks like @Mrwhosetheboss in about 15 years
I was thinking the same thing😂
Haha they do resemble one another
I don't understand the USP of the first one, I don't look at an Indian sauce and say "oh I'll pick this because they also sell Chinese sauces".
Don’t act like you do your own shopping Benjamin.

Loved the pouches idea, really hope the pretty lady hits the bigtime with the business.

100%... people would buy small pouches of alcohol for cooking. You can't find a single serving of Sherry, Marsala or Port like you can wine or rum.
I think the first 2 would be good in South Africa

First pitch sucked … stole recipes from other places and then called their business family secret lmfao

The start to his pitch was cringe and unnecessary too
You'd think with all that dosh, that Tej Lalvani would be able to afford more realistic looking wig! Now there's an idea for a pitch......🤣
The last ones were really silly to not have Sarah and Tuoker on board. They spoke too early. They should have waited untill the last minutes.

Great pitches tho

Silicone is plastic. The only functional difference is that it takes even longer to degrade.
