      Hey Yarden…😀 Awesome. I wondered if you’d end up seeing it. Thanks for the comment, always keen to do people justice for their strong work. Great to hear it from the horse’s mouthpiece so to speak, no horse reference intentional!! 🤣
      I know everyone loves DJ Sax more and more these days. I feel like an old fart now I guess, but it’s a genre close to my heart, and I’m happy to have contributed to the dance sax cannon in years gone by with Tim Deluxe’s “We All Love Sax”, and the solo on “Love Story vs Finally” amongst other naughties nuggets.
      Keep up the great work, and my team might even be in touch about seeing if you’re interested in an interview for my Inner Circle Membership? People are always asking for you! 😉

    Nice licks! One of my most fun gigs was playing with a DJ (improvising from start to finish). It would have been even better to have this licks.

    I like this DJ sax concept, the raw sound of the sax contrasts nicely with the subdued disco beats. Thanks for another great tutorial, i also need a looping device!

    I want to call you Mr. Little Details. haha. I’ve learned so much from your analysis of real-world sax situations. Even though it’s not my playing style I find the nuances applicable to whatever manner you blow in da horn. I’d say that even classical players can discover ways to control their sound by understanding how pop influences might invade their search for “purity.” But, your focus on phrasing is so dead on and adds vocabulary to whatever sax-language you are playing. Thanks so much!

    I was just thinking how can I develop a decient rhythm to play with the notes that I developed in my improvization ?? This Jamie is what I have been looking for!!! I would like to see and hear more Licks and maybe some slow romantic licks that I could play on my tenor sax. Thank you Jamie

    Do you have any way to stay motivated to play the saxophone? I've found that it is a slog to get through a lot of the work to improve and sound better, and often cannot find the motivation to even pick up the sax. Any advice that you have?

    • @mattdalton7357

      I was the same. I wanted to actually play a tune and sound good doing it (doesn't everyone?). Best (imo) to start with tone. Jamie has a class called Total Tone Mastery that I took and it really helped my sax sound. That in itself made me want to play more because I liked what was coming out of the instrument. This lead to me wanting to play more often, which lead to improvement in many other areas. There is no substitute for playing more often and getting the instrument to sound good is the first step.

      I've played saxophone for 51 years. The moment I picked it up, I sounded "OK." I was first chair in school band in only 3 weeks (I had already played Hammond Organ for 4 years so I knew music). I recall the frustration that other students had learning to read music AND deal with tone production, etc. So I say just put on some background tracks that you can find here on You Tube and play along. Nothing complicated, even this simple, no chord changes DJ stuff to start (or any current pop tune, also no or very few chord changes, all basically in one key). And just play whatever the hell you want!

    Great video! But isnt the tenor score half a tone lower?

  • @andreascorzoni7463

    Good job! However in the 2nd lick you write correctly the last note but I feel you play it slightly late, 1 sixteenth late. That effect is really difficult to play since every normal sax player would play like you play 😊

      Hi Jamie, I sent your video to Yarden and she was really touched, you made her day. This lick was an improvisation, something that she came up with on the spot.

    • @mattdalton7357
      @mattdalton7357 16 дней назад +2

      Playing along with a dj is not my cup if tea either, but I do like having a few small riffs that I can play well. I blow them as I am warming up or sometimes in the midst of practice sessions to break up the monotony of scales or overtones. I like how they sound coming out of my horn and it makes me feel more confident.
