  • This dynamic young couple are used to working hard and bringing their dreams to life, one of those dreams was to construct their own tiny house on wheels. Eve and Chris decided to make the move to Raglan, New Zealand for a better quality of life, but the rental market didn’t make that easy - so the couple decided to get creative and put their skills to the test to build a tiny home.
    Support our show: / livingbig
    Chris has a furniture making business and is no stranger to tools and timber, which is evident from the homes clever design and great finishes. The couple spent a lot of time searching for cheap materials for the home which helped to greatly reduce the cost of the build and make the tiny house truly an affordable option.

    Eve is very used to big projects and to dedicating herself to a task. Representing New Zealand as an Olympic Athlete in rowing, she fell into depression after the olympics and used the tiny house as a project to set her mind to accomplishing a goal and helping to move into a more positive space.
    Together, this couple have created a wonderful home. Enjoy the full tour of this very special tiny house. To find out more about their projects, visit their website: / raglan-tiny-home-19120...

      Once more you have found a beautifully designed and realised TH and here in NZ. The rich wood elements, offset with a pale neutral palette and flooded with natural light from the huge windows informs the clean, minimalist aesthetic and belies the craftsmanship underscoring this build. It is so nice to see another NZ example at the cutting edge of Tiny House liveability. We are lucky our climate is conducive to wonderful indoor/outdoor living for most of the year and this build really maximises the space and delicious touches that speak to the thought and care that went into this build is exemplified by the wonderful wooden drying rack on the deck that looks to cleverly winch away above the kitchen window. Kudos to the young couple, their home is lovely.

    The lofted bed without any other floor space does keep the tiny house feeling open, airy, and uncluttered. The light tones and abundant views showcase their lovely location, "bring the outside in." Even though Chris is the furniture maker, it's great that Eve got a lot of value out of the build process as well. I'm glad Eve and Chris are there for each other, each with their separate passions but also entirely together as a couple. I hope she finds stability and centered-ness in her space.
    In all honesty, watching this channel has made me really think about my space and my possessions more. I think i could divest of some items more easily now, though my husband and little guy have no reason to move or give away their stuff. *grin* All in good time, for some of us.

    • @ChewFingers
      @ChewFingers 4 года назад +1

      Completely agree, it's made me rethink a lot of stuff, as well. My dream has always been to own and live in a big old traditional Swedish farmhouse (a dream that, thanks to very fortunate circumstances is about to come true for me), with all its different unique spaces to decorate. And being so interested in interior design and style, I I wouldn't even mind having loads of rooms that I could decorate nicely, even though they would be used seldom (my house has just enough, though). Yet, since I'm pretty adaptable and I make use of what little or much space I have (same with money...), I am totally convinced that I would thrive in a well thought trough tiny apartment, house or house on wheels. I'm definitely still loving my soon to be house, but I've learned to try and live more minimalist and to rethink my priorities. This is something I've also learned a lot from Audrey Coyne here on youtube (clothing, finding your own style and planning your wardrobe). I'm so glad I've come across these channels!

Here in Kenya land is super expensive in the big cities and also in the agricultural productive sort of safe areas so for us young ppl it is quickly becoming unachievable to buy a ready made apartment or house or even to rent. But we can get affordable land in what we call our ancestral lands and these tiny homes are such an inspiration. I really like the sleek yet unpretentious style with all the hidden details, table for ten, fridge in cabinet, guest bed from storage cubes that can be added tables/stools used all around house and deck, double doors and serving window for entertaining/food and drink flow and especially the tiny wood heater up high.
    There was something so touching about the couple though, so revealing and pure how you can see their strengths and vulnerability at the same time, each one pouring into the other maintaining the glass of their union seemingly more than half full at all times. Even Bryce seemed to notice, allowing the wine to breathe and dance before us joining in the celebration of a relationship and home beheld.
    Maybe I'm just romanticizing, or waxing poetic of something but this THL seems to be the complete package and real deal, how natural and in harmony the important things can be. Best Wishes to All !!!

    This is one of my favorite homes of all! I love how all of the tiny homes have such a different feel and personality. This one is really lovely. I love the windows and openess, the clean lines, beautiful wood and the porch.

    I have watched almost all the videos in this channel, probably the simple, cheap and best design especially with the loft where you can still sit upright on the bed, it's really a good one Bryce

    Cute little home. A bit too little for me. But its obvious that it works for them. Also great that the building of it was a remedy for depression for her. They seem like a lovely couple. It gladens my heart to see couples like them. Lovely home indeed.

    The deck space is so huuuuuuuge that it's the best area to enjoy the view of the property. The large sofa is a perfect place to relax and still connect with nature. Thanks to the wide door opening. The cabinetry is so neat. Everything is tucked in its own space. Perfect house for a minimalist 😘
