    How can people compare the 2024 USA team to the Dream Team. Its not even close, the OG Dream Team were larger then life without social media.

    • @JenX68
      @JenX68 28 дней назад +1

      IKR! The best part is they keep comparing everyone to the 1992 Dream Team. They don’t do that with other Olympic teams. They still talk about the Dream Team. Young people are learning how basketball used to be played and the history behind the league. There’s no competition now. It’s just not the same-but things change. I personally think (or hope) that young people watching old highlights now, and maybe feeling indifferent to the current NBA, will pass it along to their kids. Like Larry says at the beginning of Courtship of Rivals, ‘they’ll be talking about this 100 years from now’. It’s already been 32! Love the 80’s players. 11 hall of famers on that team! 😤

    I hear this conversation about Jordan didnt win until Pip came along... Pippen got drafted in 1987. He lost with Jordan all those years as well. He had to get to level that could match Jordan's game. So no, if Pip would have stayed at Seattle when he got deafted I dont think he would have been the Pippen we know today. Jordan helped him develop tremendously.

    Scottie isn't talked about because he fizzled a lot when it counted. He refused to go into a game when the last shot was drawn up for Toni and not him. Guess what Toni hit the shot and they won with Scottie whining on the bench. He was like that as you can see now with his anti-Jordan talk.

    It was fitting that Earving (Magic) Johnson was the last man shown in this video, because he helped it happen. I mean, he was (I think) the first to commit and encouraged Bird to agree. Enjoyed this video a great deal.

    Why pippen not talked about more? If you watched his career you would understand that had he not been traded to the Bulls on draft night from the SuperSonics, you may never have heard of Pippen.
    To say Pippen is the reason MJ won is an over statement. MJ needed a #2 to win for sure, but Pippen wasn’t that dude in the beginning. He was averaging under 7 ppg coming off the bench. Hardly a HOF talent.
    What unlocked Pippen was MJ getting on his ass in practice. Pippen had the tools but MJ made him stronger with tough love. Not every player can accept that.
    Pippen was coachable and that was his greatest asset. You could see Pippen’s confidence improve every year.
    I honestly don’t believe Pippen would have a ring without MJ’s motivation.
    Had he gone to Seattle, I believe he would have had an average career.
    Don’t get me wrong. Scottie earned his championships, and MJ always gave Scottie credit.
    MJ never had a solid #2 option on his previous Bulls teams. but let’s not get it twisted. Pippen wasn’t dropping 25pts a night. He was 16 ppg scorer.
    He wasnt AD or Dwade level of help.
    Everyone knew all MJ needed was a solid #2 and he could win with that. Scottie was that dude, but had MJ gotten a Shawn Kemp or Tracey McGrady instead, best believe he would win with that as well.
    I’m not confident Scottie could do the same without ever being under MJs mentorship.
    MJ was that dude before and after Pippen.

    Yes Pippen turned into a great player but he became that player because of Jordan. Honestly if the Bulls hadn’t made that draft night trade none of you would probably know who Pippen is today.Jordan winning those titles wasn’t exclusively because of Pippen. That literally could have been ANY player who played at or near an Allstar level. Just imagine if Jordan had ended up with an Allstar level center to play with in the “Triple Post” offense as it was originally called.

      @ and you think Jordan and an Allstar caliber center somehow wouldn’t have? A good big man along with a good perimeter player has been a winning recipe since the beginning of the sport hasn’t it?

  • @donkarnage6032
    @donkarnage6032 Месяц назад +3

    Scottie isn't the reason that MJ won all those titles. That's a false narrative. Yes, he greatly helped but everybody always forgets about the effect that Phil Jackson had on the team. While Scottie is a great player he is replaceable, Phil Jackson is not replaceable. He is the best NBA coach ever. The reason that Scottie isn't talked about more is because of Scottie. He's said some things and stepped on some toes out of pettiness and when people don't have nice things to say about a person they tend not to talk about them.

    25:06 Youngin, go look at Scottie Pippen’s first two years in the league, he was non existent, he couldn’t start a game until the end of his sophomore season….Even when he did get to start, he still had to deal with the Bad Boys of Detroit!… They used bullying & intimidation tactics against Scottie & Horace for over four years, Jordan had to come up with the breakfast club, where Scottie and any other teammates that were serious about winning championships….MJ basically toughened & strengthened Pippen into a defensive monster… if Scottie is guarding the best scorer to ever touch a basketball for over ten years, I think his game should improve some! BJ Armstrong said that in all the battles they had together, Scottie NEVER won against The Goat, Michael Jordan!!! Don’t turn into a casual Bronsexual and start creating narratives about Pippen being more than what MJ created!

    The 1992 Dream Team were in their primes, except for Bird and Magic (Dominique Wilkins was selected, but he was injured. I think Pippen was his replacement). And had an elite head coach (Chuck daley) with elite assistant coaches. It is hard to dispute any other U.S. Olympic team that could beat them. That's a group of well disciplined, old school ballers. And even though having an older Larry Bird and Magic Johnson on that team, they were never a weakness. Those 2 would still be dangerous and be able to light it up against anybody. For example, which head coach today would be on Chuck Daley's level?

    Pip was NOT the reason MJ won all those titles, MJ Was!!! If Seattle had kept Pip, he wouldn't have been as great as he was, PERIOD!!! Battling against MJ in practices and learning from MJ...??? You youngins don't fully comprehend how MJ pushed his teammates to be better, to be tested both physically and mentally at the highest level.. Because if you broke down against what MJ put you through, you weren't going to be able to withstand the playoffs, yet alone the onslaught of how hard teams were going to play against you because of one teammate, Michael Jeffrey Jordan... I despise the notion that MJ was an A- hole teammate. Like Will Perdue said, "Yeah you may see MJ as being a full on a-hole, but he made you a better player ".. you don't go into battle with someone you can't trust..
    I feel sorry for you youngins that think MJ would have nothing without Pip. Quite the opposite...

      I agree, while I enjoyed this reaction you can tell the person doing the reaction dosent have history and facts on his side. Taking nothing away from Scottie Pippen everyone knows, especially if you lived that era in Chicago that when Scottie came to the Bulls there was at least a good 3-5 years before he was a meaningful contributor to the team and winning. In addition even when he got better skill wise he still had a ways to go mentally which was displayed in many of the series with Detroit. Again Pippen was phenomenal, but he benefited the most being MJ's teammate, and having to guard MJ in practices and MJs mentality rubbing off on him and the rest of the team. That's just fact!
