    so, with this method, I don't need to buy the Microsoft365 subscription? unless if I want to have extra storage?

      Hi Marcos, this will just setup your custom domain to direct traffic to Office365 there still needs to be services in there to use it. Once setup you can create accounts with your own domain (Marcos@customdomain.com) then assign that user an Office365 license with whichever services you want to give them

    have you ever tried google cloud to add DNS records i went through the setup and enterd all the records TXT records keeps poping up with an error when i enter this and Google cloud DNS does not accept it v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all so had to change it this to get rid of the errors "v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all" but still no luck office 365 does not detect this. plese lend some help is you can cheers

      @Novalogix-ltd  3 года назад

      Hi Chathura, unfortunately I havent tried this with Google Cloud DNS, be aware that not all the records are TXT Recods and make sure you match the types up correctly.
      The record you refer to is actually an SPF record which is designed to prevent spoofing and each domain should only have one, check out the below docs from Microsoft which may help:
      docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/get-help-with-domains/create-dns-records-at-any-dns-hosting-provider?view=o365-worldwide
      Skip down to SPFT TXT record.

    Great video, thank you very much, so helpful. Question, if we have accounts such as “info@“ or “feedback@“ that another user will receive, do we still need to purchase a license or those emails? Obviously these accounts don’t need to access the Office programs since they are just forwarding to an actual user in our organization, so I’m wondering if they are treated like actual users in that sense.

    • @Novalogix-ltd
      @Novalogix-ltd  3 года назад +1

      HI Jeeka715 glad it was helpful, any account can have multiple alias so you can add those to a licensed user but it sounds like in your case you want a set group to recieve emails from generic accounts. Email forwarding does require that the user has a license, however, I would suggest taking a look at shared mailboxes for these accounts to save needing a license:
      docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/email/create-a-shared-mailbox?view=o365-worldwide

    I hope someone can help clarify this for me,
    What will happen to the existing emails on the used domain outside of sharepoint after I added the domain there?
    Like, are they going to still receive mail on the same site they are using before, or they have to use outlook to use the mail, or only the users that I added to sharepoint will be able to use it in outlook and the original one?
    I hope my question is clear, because I searched a lot and I didn't find a clear answer.

    • @Novalogix-ltd
      @Novalogix-ltd  3 года назад

      Hi Ahmad, the DNS entries are just a pointer to tell the email where it should be sent to, on the other side of the DNS there will be either an email client like outlook storing the emails locally or there will be a server storing the emails and then a client like outlook will read them from the server, where these were originally stored will depend on your previous DNS Settings and mail provider so I recommend you check with them.
      Any previous emails will remain where they were previously stored so its a good idea to back these up first for migration, once the new DNS entries are added all emails for that domain are routed to Exhange Online where they are stored, you would then use an Email client like outlook to read them, server storage is the preferred method as you can install and uninstall outlook without losing the emails and they can be accessed from multiple devices

    I just went through this. There are two important issues not fully mentioned here. First, once you complete the process, you’ve disconnect all current users from your domain until each can be added to Microsoft 365. You didn’t briefly mention it, but only in passing. Secondly, it seems each user on your domain will now need their own Microsoft license, and a not-insignificant cost per user. Those two limitations caused me to half the transfer halfway through it.

      Hi Chrisy, GoDaddy shouldn't stop you accessing the admin centre, I plan to do an update on this vide as I know many people don't use GoDaddy for their hosting

    • @chrisyleenz
      @chrisyleenz 2 года назад

      @@Novalogix-ltd thanks, I think I figured it out. If ppl signed up Microsoft's plan (on deal) via godaddy, godaddy redirects the admin centre to their own portal (kinda blackmailing but) coz they don't want users to see the pricing plans offered by Microsoft directly.
      So, if ppl already have a MS plan, it's okay for them to get a domain from godaddy.
      It took me a while to understand this

    Thank you, this is exactly what I needed to know... It is just scary to do it for the first time in O365 tenants that are On-Line and that you know that if you mess up everything is going to be down. So you mentioned that their is a FREE Development Account that we can use or generate, how do I generate or access one of these to use as a sandbox ?

    • @Novalogix-ltd
      @Novalogix-ltd  2 года назад

      Hi, you can sign up for the developer programme and use development accounts or alternatively you can sign up for a free E3 trial just be aware a Domain can only be assigned to one tenant and you will need to remove it before you add it to another.
      The great thing about domains is you can't mess the tenant up too much, each account always has a base domain which is the onmicrosoft.com and can be switched back and forward from each without losing data, I will make sure to get a video out to show you how!

    Hi Collin this video is excellent however I wondered if you could help. I've created my custom domain email address following your tutorial and it works brilliantly on my lap top until I add it as an email account on my iPhone 12. When adding it to my outlook app it appears as a 365 office account email and works fine on Wi-Fi but when using mobile data it only receives emails and will not sent them, well it will but comes up with an immediate error message saying "your message wasn't delivered because the recipients email provider rejected it" if use it on Wi-Fi no issues but I cannot seem to fix this when using mobile data on my iphone or tablet device, any suggestions ?
    Thank you in advance

    Thanks for this video. But can you also explain how to connect M365 family? Apparently you can only work with Godaddy there.
    But once you defined this how can you make outlook work?

    • @Novalogix-ltd
      @Novalogix-ltd  2 года назад

      GoDaddy just has an auto configure but it can be completed manually with any domain provider that allows access to DNS records management. to make outlook work you will then need to assign users a domain or create users with the domain, as long as the mx records exist all mail to that domain will be routed to the 365 and will pickup the username, I have a video I will record that will explain in more detail how to manage users and domains, make sure to subscribe and I will notify when its out

    Hi, thank you for your content bro. I have one question. What happens to the Mail inbox from the old Mail? (From webmail domain hoster) will that inbox automatic transfer in to office 365 because they have the same username? Exp: my Mail adresse is admin@ttt.com and i use webmail. I want to use office 365 and the same user is crested in office admin@ttt.com

    • @Novalogix-ltd

      Hi skeptisk1 glad it helped! No unfortunately old mail will remain in your previous mail storage inbox but all new mail will route to the office365 mailbox once the DNS is registered. You will need to migrate any old email to outlook after that, unfortunately there is no easy answer to the question of how to do that.
