“Taking a crap on the establishment, I salute you” 😂 Gets me every time
Same 😂😂😂
It's a great line, just for that. Plus the added nuance, even this early, he's figured out who the establishment is. And is already stealing components to use later to combat them. Hint after hint that he was looking out for Miles and Gwen the whole time. Gwen's his friend, and he knows how much she cares about Miles, so by extension he's still "looking out for his drummer". Give credit to the writers, they put a lot into this.

It's really nice to see Peter happy and joyful. He's changed from depressed middle-aged Spider-man who get inspired in the of the previous movie to happy farther with adorable kid. It's so great
Middle aged? Dude, in the first film he was only 37.

@@Jadz09 that’s a hunk of cow shit. People who are 37 aren’t prunes.
And Miles is the only reason he had the balls to improve his life. He fixed things up with MJ, had a child and is awesome now. So glad Miles and him reconciled before the 'take the leap of faith' scene.
@@francostevo9939 It depends on the person.
I didn't realize till this watch-through that Hobbie was stealing the components to build his own watch. Bro knew what was up from the get-go.
Hobie said something along the lines of not signing up for anything 'till you know who the real enemy is...He was warning Miles.
He was probably waiting for Miles the moment Gwen talked about him
💯 Hobie knew Miguel and the Spider Society would never accept Miles. That’s why he was hoping Gwen would’ve gotten the courage to tell Miles the truth about who he was in the eyes of the SS. Also, I suspect Hobie believed Gwen’s feelings for Miles were more one-sided… until he met Miles himself. And once Hobie saw how Miles literally went after Gwen as well as how he handled the Mumbattan incident, he realized Miles’ feelings were just as deep for Gwen and why Gwen thought so highly of him-which is presumably why Hobie decided he had to try to warn Miles.
On top of that, as someone said on another video thread, Miles is walking proof that Miguel’s canon event theory is flawed-and Hobie probably realized that after all his conversations with Gwen. Which could be another reason Miguel knew to avoid conversations with Hobie-because Hobie saw right through him.
He knew prior to Gwen coming to 1616. Peter says "this isn't what we talked about" at the end, and Hobie says "Gwen, have you told him about his place in all this?" at the start of Spidey Society.
They all had a conversation regarding Mile's dad's death being canon so Hobie knew what was up the entire time considering Peter B knows what Miguel's on about. He wasn't kidding when he said he was looking out for his little drummer, because he knows Miles will be the ultimate rebel to the cause.
It was Hobies job to break the rules..😂
I love how much of a proud dad Peter B is.
But it reminds Miguel O'Hara about what he did. I feel bad.
This scene is especially great because it shows you just how hard Peter wants to play both sides. Here he calls Miles an adult ("I didn't know they made those for adults") but later on calls him kid. He doesn't know who he should side with and it shows in a lot of lesser moments like this. He comes in to break the tension (and it works, Miguel calms down and speaks more reasonably and empathetically with Miles). But when Miles rejects them he reluctantly joins the chase
Yeah, but even the chase was pretty half-hearted. I got the feeling he was mainly going along to make sure Miguel didn't go too far.
@@Brasswatchman I think Peter was actually trying to give miles his his goober so he could escape. Especially since he was the only spider to legitimately catch miles but didn’t attempt to hold him in place.
@@willhicks7027He didn't attempt to hold him in place, but he *was* trying to convince Miles to let his event happen. My guess is that Peter understood that you can't "force" a canon event and that Miles should at least have the right to TRY and save his father. Peter likely did not know the watches all had trackers on them. Probably why Hobie took his own watch off and tossed it before returning to his own dimension, he likely figured that out.
Later in the movie when Gwen is recruiting other spider-people, there is a shot of Peter waking up from his nap with a book on his chest that reads something like: "How to get kids to listen" & "How to listen to kids". So it can be implied that the reason Peter calls Miles "kid" is because he's read up on parenting books about communication with children
And this is why I like Peter. He was just tryna be neutral and break the tension
I didn’t realize that Hobbie was lowkey trying to tell Miles to leave the spider society. He knew it wasn’t what everyone thought it was from the start
And he’s stealing parts to make his own watch while doing that I didn’t notice it the first time through
4:37 Hobie's line "Taking a crap in the establishment.. I salute you!" is funny af
Plus the added nuance, even this early, he's figured out who the establishment is. And is already stealing components to use later to combat them.
0:19 This sums up Miguel’s entire character, outlook and actions in the movie perfectly. He doesn’t want to be a jerk, The Bad Guy. He means well, just sees the bigger picture in wanting to keep all the worlds alive. He understands situations like Miles’ is unfair, but Miguel’s traumatic experience with his daughter made him believe in practicality, not potential false hope. And that’s just Miguel’s problem, he has no Hope left in him.
Next movie, I sincerely wish Miles finds a way to prove Miguel wrong by saving everyone without harming the Spiderverse
That would be very fairytale like tbh. I don't think it's gonna be that simple.

To all people that thought Peter B Parker was underused/butchered in this movie :
The fact that PbP is so distant in this film is only to better show the independence of the hero. All mentors have to leave the protagonist to fend for themselves, no longer be useful, and have to disappear (not always literally). That's literally the same case as: Obi wan Kenobi, Yoda or even Gandalf. In the context of Spider-verse 2, Miles can't even trust him, because that's to be expected following the story arc of the 1st movie. Completely obsessed with his daughter (again it's totally normal when you watch the PbP from the beginning of the 1st Spider-verse, he had an impressive personal glow-up which he is proud of). But in the film, the mentors appreciate their apprentices, nevertheless they are corrupted by the institution of the Spider-society, to the point that instead of accompanying them in their transformation they just try to transform them into the shell of themselves , as obedient soldiers (same case between Jessica drew and Gwen). He remains completely obsessed with his own happiness despite the fact that he lets himself be walked on by the philosophy of Miguel o'hara. From a plot point, this shows the conflict of opinion and perspectives between Miles and Miguel, PbP giving up his freedom (in a certain way) because he doesn't need it and he's already very happy: That's exactly why he is so insistent on wanting Mayday and Miles to interact. In the dialogue, in the kind of factory, he doesn't even really listen to what Miles has to say and he even shouts to impose his opinion while showing that he is happy despite the fact that he has left himself corrupted by the Spider-society. He tries to convey the same idea to Miles : "Accept the tragedy of canon events and you can still be happy, just look at me and follow my example". It's not like he was a totally different character in this movie, the 1st film already shown he was kind of a defeatist person. Plus already completed his character arc !
Yet he learnt from his mistakes , we can liteally see him reading a book titled : "how to talk so kids will listen & and listen so kids will talk". Literally ALL the other mentors and parental figures learn this lesson, except Miguel O'hara that's why he's the antagonist.
I disagree.
PBP, Spider Gwen and Miles became a Team..
Now, it's disbanded, broken up....
Miguel, obviously, hates what he has become. He needs to be removed..
What's highly ironic here is that the Spider Society is supposed to be a place where All variants of the characters are Welcome to be who they are and yet Miles is made to feel like an outsider....Wtf?
.
Sorry bruv but I ain't reading allat
Whoever said Peter was butchered is tripping? Is he underused in this movie? Maybe but that’s cuz this movie ain’t about him. He already had his shine in the first movie and will prolly have on in the third movie
Wait, if he had already completed his arc, why is he still a defeatist in ATSV? Arcs are supposed to change a character, yet he's back to his old self, so much so that he joins the villain's side?
Just look at his outfit; the movie doesn't even allow him to be Spider-Man anymore. It can be excused by Peter not realizing he's walking into a chase scene at first, but at the end of the movie, he STILL retains his goofy pink robe and STILL decides to bring his infant daughter along, even though he KNOWS he's swinging off into danger. It makes NO sense why he doesn't suit up properly and leave Mayday home. He's just another assassinated character, along with Gwen and Miguel, that's used to prop up Miles.
@@SteamGrace You can see that Peter was there with Miguel when it happened, he SAW what happened to that universe. I'm sure normally he would be against him but after seeing that, he's conflicted.
It's not that he doesn't want Miles to save his dad, he's just worried about the potential consequences of it. "If I let him do this, his whole world might crumble" That's what's going through his head.

I think I finally understand the purpose of those spider vials.
Throughout the film ,most of all the returning characters maintained a similar design for this film just enhancements like Miles' aged up body. In the previous film, when we see Miguel O'Hara testing the interdimensional watch his design is mostly consistent with his comic depiction. Yet in this film, Miguel is very clearly been overhauled character design wise. I at first wrote it off thinking they needed to make Miguel look more menacing and imposing if he was to properly fit as the film's antagonist (aside from the Spot).
But now that I think about...Miguel didn't get bit by a radioactive/gentically-enchanced Spider; his line "But I'm not like the others'. And this fact is shown to us multiple times (no spider-sense, claws, fangs no humor *anymore*) even the other Spiders call him out on it. So would it be a stretch to say that Miguel is perhaps in actuality the 'weakest'/least capable Spider-Man of the multiverse??? His DNA may have been recoded to be 50% spider and 50% human yet he lacks some of the key aesthetics of being a Spider-Man! Miguel has been juicing himself with psuedo-enchanced spider venom for physical augmentation which explains why he's so jacked!!!
And he took a dose of it just as Miles came closer toward his office, so it could be very possible Miguel doubted he could contain Miles and took a dose of spider steriod to be 'certain of victory'.
Any thoughts?
I don't think he would be the least capable Spider-Man of the multiverse considering that he's capable of leading the Spider-Society. Also, I think Miguel juicing might not be for physical augmentation, it might be to keep his vampire-self at bay considering he almost took a bite off from the Renaissance Vulture.
Edit: Nvm, you might be right, him juicing might be for physical augmentation.
