Peter is trying to reassure Miles that Miguel is harmless. But it's also true that Miguel wasn't bitten by a spider like most Spider-People. He has no bite.
I love how completely opposite Hobbie and Miguel are in this movie. Being a rebel, Hobbie is all about defying the status quo and going against order. While Miguel, due to watching an entire universe collapse, has held on to the concept of total control so much that he’s closed off from others opinions.
Also, Hobie wants people to share his viewpoint but he does not try to force it on them. He tries to warn Miles to think critically but never tells him "Don't join Miguel, he's bad news." He also is understanding of Gwen's position and instead of trying to drag her out of it, he stands by her and supports her until she's able to finally defy Miguel herself, which he obviously had faith she would eventually do. Contrast to Miguel's rigid demands for obedience and the way he sends her back to her home dimension knowing what's in store for her there because she was too defiant. Hobie and Miguel aren't just "Rebel vs Authoritarian" they're also complete opposites in how they think you should go about influencing people, with Gwen being the example of the people.
Also like how Hobie looks at us as he’s gathering stuff and before he talks to miles. You have to stop at the frame before he spins behind miles, he’s staring straight at the camera
0:32: Was Hobbie randomly stealing components like that, passing it off as random acts of anarchy, so he could assemble his own dimensional portal device later, as a backup for if/when he quit Miguel's team?
Hobie Brown in the mainline universe became Prowler. He was a tech genius like Peter. It looks like Spider-Punk has the traditional science-acumen Spider-Man's are known for.
Hobie saying " you are not ready for everybody else"just after side eyeing Gwen also meant he knew that Miles was unaware of the true ideas behind the spider clubhouse and even the fact that Gwen was down bad for Miles but tried to suppress her feelings and focus on the goals in hand. So Hobie felt that at this moment Miles first priority was to have a real talk with his parents to avoid any further misunderstandings. To get them the fact how lonely he felt and needed only their love and support while balancing the teenage struggle, missing someone, academic pressure as well as the role of a friendly neighbourhood spiderman.
For over a year she couldn't think straight and the way she looked at the polaroid picture was not like missing a mere friend instead someone who is very close to her heart. She always got lost in his thoughts. And when she got the chance she immediately visited him and first thing she did was hugging him tightly and then acting awkwardly around him.
@@usmaniftekhar7121 yes Hobie knew Miles was the person from 1610 about whom Gwen never stopped talking cause she was crushing pretty hard and by the end of ATSV she had completely fallen for Miles. Even the watch he made was already tuned to 1610 so that Gwen could fix her relationship with Miles and tell everything to him which she couldn't before as Miguel was spying them.
That’s what I been thinking about Gwen. As much as she miss Miles, she been at this club far too long. She lost her consciousness and went along for the ride all because she couldn’t return to her own dimension. But in order to stay, she had to follow his rules.

Another reason I love Miguel? How he is portrayed is exactly how Cyclops from the X-men is. People are always misrepresent Cyclops. Cyclops had no sense of humor and doesn’t have time to make jokes because he knows that he must be the one to lead his gang of mutants because one bad choice can result in the extermination of his mutant race. The responsibility of such a leadership role and as well as his responsibility to keep his powers in check at all times; such things can way in him. The way how Miguel is written here is the closet thing to accurate representation of my favorite mutant, Cyclops. Miguel may not be Cyclops but I can just appreciate what I can; this is closest to cyclops I have seen by far. I’m tired of people milking Wolverine to no end.
Yup “the hardest choices require the strongest wills.” Just like how Leonardo from TMNT is often portrayed as a hardass, not because he wants to be, but because he has to lead his brothers.
@@kb6900 that I am working on but it involves a mutant, a mutant that I made up; a mutant that has the power to absorb the mutant powers of others and transfer those powers into another person either animal, mutant, even human. Cyclops makes the discovery of this mutant being kept at shield and is furious that Captain America kept such a mutant a secret from him; thinking that having a mutant like that by the X-men side would work wonders and could help mutant kind. Captain America agrees with that but as we all know, Cap always chooses the moral choice while cyclops chooses the mutant choice. Captain America wants this mutant to work with shield to be able to help out everyone because if there is someone with powers they must defeat, this transfer power mutant is the best alley they can have in their team.
Watching this makes me wonder if the alternate Miguel’s death was a canon event for his daughter. What if she was supposed to be the spider woman of that dimension after her father’s death? Don’t know how she would have gotten the spider abilities but it might be possible.
It must've been something like that. If Miguel wouldve just slipped into the role of a (for the canon-multiverse irrelevant) normal guy, a canon event would not have been interrupted (since there was none to begin with). Hence, the Miguel that died must've been somewhat connected to a Spiderman story. An entire universe can only begin to glitch or get destroyed by the presence of strong anomalies (e.g. the renessaince vulture; all spidermans in movie 1) or someone like Spot (though rules in that regard are still not 100% clear because there's not that much to go off of).
Miguel really proving Hobie's "If you call yourself a hero, that makes you a self-mythologizing, Narcissistic autocrat" quip from his intro. Miles literally says out loud that it was The Spot that caused the big black anomaly in Parvitr's universe, not a Canon Event disruption, and he just gets bowled over and ignored because The Canon is more important than facts. The Mythology is more important. Miguel is so convinced that everything revolves around Spider-man, all because he saw one universe collapse - one he was living in. One he was _not supposed to be living in._ Yeah, he probably _did_ cause that universe to collapse. But not because he's Spiderman, or because of "canon". He caused it because he wasn't from that Universe.
Narcissism is when you take responsibility for your actions and demand that for others because that's not what Spiderman is literally about or anything
@@theysellsoulscheaphere8501 He's so obsessed with the idea of Spider-man that he thinks the universe literally revolves around him. Assuming that it was Spider-Man Canon being disrupted that broke a universe instead of _literally anything else, like him invading to take his dead self's place_ is the height of arrogance and narcissism.
@@Codyslx His whole "Spider Canon" bit preaches that Spider Man is so integral to the existence of the universe that disrupting any of the "Canon events" will break the universe. And yet, it happens MULTIPLE times without consequence. Hell, it can be argued that Miguel himself doesn't even fit the Spider Bite Canon Event; he wasn't bitten, he was spliced with Spider DNA in a genetic experiment that got sabotaged. But Miles himself is central to multiple Canon events being broken, and not one of those universes is collapsing; the closest we get is Spot's stuff messing up one building and everyone overreacts and outright ignores Miles pointing out that it was The Spot, not "canon being broken". Hell, what about Universe 42? Sure, the place is in a worse state for not having a Spider Man, _but the universe still exists._ Literally EVERY SINGLE CANON EVENT was completely averted due to the spider being absent. Universe is fine. The entire Canon Event system is bullshit born of Narcissistic self-importance. The one universe that is broken, is one that is _invaded by someone from another universe._ That's not about Canon being broken, it's an incursion, the same sort of thing that gets talked about in Multiverse of Madness.
@Blazieth He didn't preach about spiderman being integral to the universe.. He simply claimed that breaking enough cannon at some point would put all lives in the multiverse at risk. Hence why he told miles to sacrifice one to save all. Nothing he says is in any definition of the work narcissistic. He destroyed an entire universe simply by just existing. He came to the conclusion with the help of his model that if you do it enough, it would deconstruct the multiverse. Going out an busting his ass to weave in anomalies that came as the result of the alchemax is not something a narcissistic person would do. Pretty selfless to clean up after others if you ask me.

@@WindyREDPanda Yes, that movie really show that tragic aspect of it but also at the end that some universe such SpiderGwen's world don't always follow the same rules of the "canon".
I do love Miguel. He’s meant to be an antagonist yet his motivations make sense. None of us know if he can be proven wrong. Miles doesn’t know. Miguel doesn’t know. But we know Miguel isn’t pure evil. He’s a broken man long past his breaking point who’s terrified and paralyzed by the magnitude of his assumed responsibility. Will he be able to see reason? Can he even be proven wrong? Only time will tell.
I don't think he'll see his dimension collapse but if he breaks canon, but the story would be boring if he manages to walk away unscathed. I expect him to lose someone in the next movie if he saves his father. Might be Miguel sacrificing himself. Might be his father dying anyway saving Miles from an attacker. Might be Gwen following the other Gwens that got too close to Spider man.

People have mentioned groupthink, but I think part of the reason so many Spider-People are on board with Miguel's plan is that it helps them assuage the guilt that they all feel. Miguel's explanation for "canon" events implies that there was nothing any of them could have done to save their loved ones, so they don't have to wonder if they could have acted differently or been better. It's one of the many ways Miguel has misunderstood the idea of canon events: Spider-Man needs to fail, but only because he is *supposed* to carry the guilt of failing, because it always pushes him to try harder and look for a solution even under impossible odds. If any death could potentially be explained away as a canon event, then Spider-Man never has to question his own decisions. When you get a Spider-Man who is convinced he is always doing the right thing, simply because it's him that's doing it, you get Miguel O'Hara.
@@G.slayer Spiderman is notorious for taking the responsibility of everyone else *except* himself on his shoulders. He sees himself as a tool for the good of humanity and nothing else.
Except this can get contradicted in the Spiderman TAS. There's a version of Peter Parker where he never loses Uncle Ben, and by proxy, becomes reckless, privileged, and a terrible leader. If Uncle Ben's death is a canon event, why is there one timeline where he survives? Granted, people are speculating that Miguel explaining the canon events is his PTSD convincing him that these recurring events must be absolute.
I just realized that Hobie was probably stealing those random parts around the place because he already knew miles/gwen would need their own watch and was preparing.
Which is fair considering he's a rigid, authoritarian figure and Hobie is an anarchist who's constantly making remarks about what a rebel he is. Too bad for Miguel he didn't take any of what he said seriously.

I am planning to get one day get a tattoo to remind myself of my wrong (and I hate tattoos btw) because I won’t be young forever and I don’t want age to diminish the memory of this pain from my mind. Why? Because a wise man once said “Never forget those you have wronged because I can assure you they will not forget you “ I did something back in 2000 that I can’t get over; I was 5. I refuse to heal from or forget.
I get you man. In January of this year I was in a car accident because of some other person who caused it, but I beat myself over it everyday. Thinking what I could’ve done differently, and it’s a pain that never leaves me, it’s always in the back of my mind haunting me everyday.
Well I *can* hate Miguel. Not just cause of the whole "canon event" stuff, but because he's blaming Miles like he purposely caused everything that's happened. 7:50-9:08 That was the saddest and worst thing that has ever happened to him because he ruined the canon event which caused the whole dimension to corrupt and lost the family he had loved.😔
Miguel’s sternness is what makes him funny like when he talks about the name of the spiderverse, he doesn’t seem completely mad at first he seems more frustrated but fine enough to talk like when he talks to Miles about when he broke the canon

Loki introducing the physical representation of the multiverse is genuinely setting ground for the furtive of movies, tvshows, games, etc. It’s incredible i love the intertwining universes
I feel there could be some projection going on there. Miles is about to ruin a whole dimension just like Miguel did, so actually the beef lies on the fact that Miles is the constant reminder of what he himself did in the past. It's like looking yourself in the mirror and feel constantly disgusted. The difference is that Miguel took full accountability and, in his eyes, Miles is not. That's why he's so "I did everything I had to redeem myself and this kid, who's following the same path, seems to give zero fcks" and that's simply unbearable for him.
Miguel is so hard on Miles because he is so hard on himself. Even now, he looks back and fixates on the time he spent with the family of his doppelganger. He tried defying destiny and doing what would make him happy, only for it to taken away because he got involved. He sees Miles and sees the chance to stop someone from making his mistake.
Hobie talks about how good of a life he has and he’s got it good before putting his legs up between miles and the path forward. It’s subtle, but he’s telling him “if you go forward, all of that will change.” As well as “you’re not ready for everybody else.”
Except Miles didn't "create" the Spot, he was just the final nail that sealed his fate. The Spot created himself when he and the others brought the spider that bit Miles from Earth 42(I think it was 42 could be wrong) leading up to all the events in Across the Spiderverse
Which it could be argued wouldn't have happened if the collider in the first film wasn't even built. Miguel blaming Miles for creating the Spot is completely stupid because inaction then would have resulted in the death of the entire Spiderverse. A butterfly effect in motion.
0:19 When Miguel says that I don't always like what I have to do but I know i have to be the one to do it does that mean he didn't like how he himself abused Miles and hurt his feelings that he wasn't supposed to be Spiderman, is this supposed to be where Miguel doesn't want to be a murderer or monster
I get Miguel’s reasoning, especially since it’s a needs of the many out way the needs of the few deal, but one thing I can’t side with him on is taking that other Miguel’s place. Not because it was wrong to take another man’s life, even if they died, but because he also left his world without a Spider-man. I get he wanted a more personally fulfilling life, but to voluntarily leave his world without a Spider-man just shows he’s lost what it means to truly be one. He just wanted an out, but now he’s deeming the mask as a burden he has to carry for life and not treating it for what it’s meant to be. An opportunity. With great power comes great responsibility but could a man who sees that now as a punishment even be the voice for others like himself? This movie really makes you think. Miguel is without a doubt an excellently written character. A Spider-man who isn’t a Spider-man. Just genius.
So Miles Morales is an anomaly, but it doesn't give everyone the right to treat him like crap, and by everyone,I mean Miguel and Jess. He's a person like everyone else. You know what's worse?,is that Miguel and Jess made Miles's friends turn their backs on him.

That’s the same thing I thought I was like what the hell he might be the original normally but he’s clearly just having the time of his life thinking there’s other spider people just like maybe all the other Spider-Man are joined the society did. to a kid who’s basically in the same situation as you even though he is an anomaly.
This is what makes Miguel interesting, and not just a blind villain. Miguel has seen what happens if things go wrong, or at least he believes he has. But if he is wrong about Canon Events, like Miles and Gwen keep pointing out, then it's possible he lost his family for some other, unknown reason. Like he lost them for nothing. So he's determined to stop Miles, because he can't be wrong about this. And he's alone despite his helpers. And he doesn't want it happening to anyone else.
His technology and knowledge is just not as big as TVA. He is still kinda guessing in what will happen. While TVA already knew it before it even started. The reason on why Miles is being rebelious is because Miguel doesn't really have a real prove that his verse will be over if he messed up with the canon event.
I think what Hobie means is don't enlist till you know what the spider society's true purpose is. On the surface it probably looks cool but deeper, Miguel's intentions may not be something Miles would want to join.
6:23 Fun fact: this is a scene that’s implied to be from the never produced season 3 of the Spectacular Spider Man. It’s a shame that it was never made

I love how completely opposite Hobbie and Miguel are in this movie. Being a rebel, Hobbie is all about defying the status quo and going against order. While Miguel, due to watching an entire universe collapse, has held on to the concept of total control so much that he’s closed off from others opinions.
This movie is so odd and the way things happen so quickly it's hard to keep track of what the characters are saying.
Sometimes I don’t like that. But for the sack of certain exceptions like this, it’s alright
And even still, you can understand why and not necessarily hate it.
Pretty much confirmed

Also HOBIE said , U CAN MAKE UR OWN WATCH ...... He knows more...... !!!

LMFAO
Watching this makes me wonder if the alternate Miguel’s death was a canon event for his daughter. What if she was supposed to be the spider woman of that dimension after her father’s death? Don’t know how she would have gotten the spider abilities but it might be possible.
Well mayday might just explain that
It must've been something like that.
1:50 slowest entrance ever.
Slower than Mewtwo's Entrance in the First movie. Lol
“The ramp Morty, they love the slow ramp.”
Like undertaker entrance
@@Blazieth He doesn't think the universe revolves around him how tf did you come to conclusion. Him invading another universe broke cannon.

I don't think he'll see his dimension collapse but if he breaks canon, but the story would be boring if he manages to walk away unscathed.

It's like looking yourself in the mirror and feel constantly disgusted. The difference is that Miguel took full accountability and, in his eyes, Miles is not. It was clear miles was desperate in need of support of a friend to talk but when he with Gwen she ignored anything but talk about herself or spider society only time about miles is for her to enjoy how good he's gotten then switch to treating him as lesser than her in a way she always kinda did but now more after everything he did for her
And miquel acts like it's just one unimportant life when it's miles father one of The only people he has left and the person that gave miles all the confidence in first movie to succeed while other spiders dragged him down and tied him up it would be different if it was someone miquel cared about but it's miles "the original anomaly" father a brand new captain doesn't try to consider miles feeling accound while treating him like garbage and having no intention of letting miles join want to take more from miles life give him no support or anything he desperately needs and dictate his life it's wssy for them it's jusr a guy to them it's not their sacrifice not their choice it's like someone else stranger choosing to pull the plug on your loved one dismissing you it's not sacrifice it's just murder and if his father dies and miles chooses to never be Spiderman again if thwy like it or not I'm on his side for it or he goew vengeance against them for it especially after finding out he wa right shown by gwens father beinf able to live and wanfing his to die whike she has all her friends and support she has hee bams she chose to neglect them when they tried being fair to her but she was inconsiderate for them not accommodating her after all this time after Peter died not trying to understand she messed up got distracted and it was a team thing a band for everyone not just her
And Peter when miles clearly was trying to ask Peter for help get in and need to talk but Peter got distracted by mayday and talking about miles suit and day pass and then degrading miles about he doesn't think and ingoring miles commends finding it insulting
And Gwen has months in society she never once with all talking about miles think how to handle talking to him without giving him the wrong idea or causing problems she doesn't think
Sorry for the rant
😂😂😂
That’s the same thing I thought I was like what the hell he might be the original normally but he’s clearly just having the time of his life thinking there’s other spider people just like maybe all the other Spider-Man are joined the society did. to a kid who’s basically in the same situation as you even though he is an anomaly.
I love Miguel O’Hara❤
Miguel, when said “ all of our liveszzzz” get me all the time😂
I love Spider-Man
This is what makes Miguel interesting, and not just a blind villain.
I love how their personalities persist through the general serious mood of the scene.
I love how Miles' Spanish is sh*t, while Miguel speaks perfect Spanish 👌🏼
I love Hobbies character design, its like he jumped out of a comic book
Who
1:43 Hobie: Just don't enlist till you know what war you're fighting
Me: How did Hobie know that there was going to be a fight
I think what Hobie means is don't enlist till you know what the spider society's true purpose is. On the surface it probably looks cool but deeper, Miguel's intentions may not be something Miles would want to join.
6:23 Fun fact: this is a scene that’s implied to be from the never produced season 3 of the Spectacular Spider Man. It’s a shame that it was never made
Can we all just take a moment to admire Peter calming Miguel’s emotions after him just showing up with his good energy.
Makes me feel like when my brother is being a little hard on my nephew so I interviene alittle bit and tell my nephew to listen.
❤ gotta love the dynamic them both
I like that he casually throws something at Miles midsentence kinda like J.k Simmons in Whiplash
Oscar Isaac would be great as live action Miguel o hara
I don’t think so. But he’s fantastic as the voice.
Ngl, Across the Spider Verse is the film that convinced me no live action film can hold a candle to animation. Doing Miguel in live action would just add limits.
@poisonbonbons8684 For real.If DC has taught me anything is that Animation does more justice for superheroes than live action
Is he Mexica Irish or half Mexican? If not.. no.
i love him as moon knight tho… i can’t choose
I like how they blamed miles but spots actually to blame since he brought the spider
the thing that miguel injects himself with, is it rapture? or maybe something different related to his powers.
correct. Not sure if exactly like comics, but his powers don’t come from a spider bite. Involves injection that mixes his dna with spider dna
@fionnbarrcasey5247 The comic version was basically that old horror movie "The Fly" where Jeff Goldbloom gets spliced with Fly DNA, but Miguel's case is of course with a spider
@@fionnbarrcasey5247 I didnt read the comics so would he lose his powers if he stopped the injections?
@@alexandermeiering5216 basically, Miguel wanted to quit his job at Alchemax after witnessing illegal human experiment. His boss wasn’t having it, so he poisoned Miguel with Rapture, an addictive drug that get you addicted for life, and that only Alchemax sell it legally ( terrible way to keep your employees…). Miguel then try to genetically reset his body, but his supervisor messed with his experiment, which leads him to have his body fused with spider DNA, turning him into Spiderman 2099.
His eyes do show an affect so possibly his powers
I like how canon events are a smaller version of absolute points with absolute points when they break the whole universe fall apart but with canon events it takes more than one to destroy the whole universe.
“And YOU I’m just gonna try and ignore you I just can’t”
“I ain’t even here….or here”🤣🤣🤣
Where was Spider Noir & Ham during all of the multiverse stuff?
In reality? Nick Cage was busy and Mulaney was in rehab.
In the movie? Probably not recruited yet.
In the end they were on the spider gang in the finale of the team
@@Illier1maybe they didn’t fit in with Miguel’s recruitment policies. Not everyone does. Noir especially is like spider-punk, in that they’re against the establishment.
My personal theory is they opted out of joining the Spider Society when they learned Miguel considers Miles a multiversal threat.
they were probably in it but the writers were lazy and only included them in the final moments of the movie
This movie is like to say, to hell with Canon events we make our own story, destiny cannot decide that for us😊😊😊😊😊
it's so surreal seeing how it would be if an entire society had Spider-Man's abilities, like something in me gets triggered everytime I see the baby going off on her own because she might hurt herself or something, but nope, Spider-Man reflexes just seamlessly catches her shenanigans everytime like it was just normal.
Miguel's humor is dry humor. Its so dry that it crackles.
😂😂😂
