The possession based style they play is rubbish. Average players can pass the ball around and look good, but it takes more than a team keeping possession to win games. Football has become dull and boring to watch imo.

I think he responded well. They didn't call themselves the Golden Generation, the press put that name on them. Other countries have golden generations too, but you need more than that. To win big tournaments you need a group of 25 top players and that is always more difficult to achieve for smaller countries, plus you need a dose of luck (10 percent) during the tournament itself. For those who think this is BS, just look up the winners of the EC's and WC's of the past 60 years. For the EC's between 1960 and now only three small countries (population 10.000.000 or less) have ever won the cup. And for the WC's no small countries have ever won the cup. It;s largely a matter of numbers unforntunately for those who are from smaller countries. It's as simple as that.
