Predator 3500 CO sensor bypass

  • For test purpose only. My brand new Predator 3500 was shutting off after about 10-20 minutes. The CO sensor light was dimly flickering red moments before shutting off. After a few minutes of internet research I contacted a gentleman in the generator aftermarket industry and he gave me some sound advise about wire colors and how to bypass the sensor to verify a sensor problem. #harborfreight #predator3500 #skoolie #tinyliving
Also, I can’t wait to get my ‪@generatorupgradesupply8953‬ remote kit for this generator. It worked great on my last Predator saving me a lot of fuel because I could just start and stop the generator with out going outside. Cause I’m lazy.

I've been looking for this information since winter freezing my ass off restarting this damb thing every ten mins while i'm trying to sleep in my semi truck. I found this video last month and it took me a week or so to get the parts together and take the generater apart. Thank you so much for showing in detail how to do this. I can run a whole tank of fuel without resarting my generater now.
FYI the scews to remove the side cover are on the right side of the front panle and the left side of the rear panle also some on the bottem of the side panle. This is the only part missing for your video.

I did the mod on my 3500 Predator and now my generator only runs 18 seconds and then shuts off. What I ended up doing is to remove the CO sensor, thoroughly cover the sniffer holes with electrical tape, undo the bypass (sure glad I used the blue connectors) and now it runs great!

My predator generator is outside. Nothing to obstruct it and the co2 sensor cuts it off all the time. I put a box fan in front of it to keep it running. That works. I hadn't thought of bypassing the sensor. Now I will.

Thankfully I bought my 3500's in 2020 before an engine change and co sensor hassle. Just bought the Predator 2000 inverter but haven't started it yet. Same as the 3500's I'm putting in the NGK plug, small gas filter, and trying to do the co delete for obvious reasons. They have now molded 8 wires from 2 cables into that co sensor. 2 browns, a black and white from one cable. A red, green, yellow, blue on the other cable. Trying to study to figure out which wires to connect. They are trying to make it harder to bypass. Your vid is the best but wrong Inverter for me. Greetings from the farm near Battle Creek, Mi.

It is very aggravating as I run it on the back of my van in a tool box and although I leave the lid open in use it still cuts off after brief use. Hate to have someone hold my hand but I’m about to go crazy trying to figured a way around the issue. The wires on mine are not the same color as yours and it doesn’t seem as accessible either.

Agree completely with the theory but not sure how you came up with your wiring bypass, plus my problem was a different brand, a Wen 3600 inverter generator, it has the CO watchdog. Any way I found the sensor and the placed a piece of tape over the actual area within the sensor that attempts to “inhale” the air around it. After taping I placed the generator in a placed it in a trailer for 30 min, a 10’ job trailer with all the doors sealed shut.
    Ran great!

I did this and it did disable my CO sensor, but it created a problem with my starter. When I turn of the generator I hear a constant groaning noise from inside the generator without the motor running. I unhooked the battery and it stopped. Also notice that electric start button would not function now either. I disconnected the senor cut the brown and black, green and white, and then spliced those pairs together using a wire nut. What could be the cause?
