    For strength gains, supersets present some challenges. While you can still get stronger using supersets, I recommend avoiding them for your main compound lifts. The reason? You need adequate rest between heavy sets to maintain maximal force production. When you go straight from one taxing exercise to another, performance often suffers on that second movement.
    However, when it comes to building muscle (hypertrophy), supersets really shine. Since muscle growth is driven primarily by total training volume, supersets let you accumulate more work in less time while maintaining the necessary intensity for growth.
