She died at the age of 21.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled in October 2014 that Bartusiak's death was an accident. The "combined toxic effects of hydrocodone and difluoroethane with carisoprodol" were listed as the main cause of death.

@@Grandizer8989 Essentially a drug overdose, but it seems they were legally prescribed medications. The first drug is used for pain, the second is for central nervous system issues, the last is a muscle relaxant. Nerve pain is a nightmare and it makes your muscles to spasm, which causes even more pain. Either she took more than prescribed or the doctors gave her a bad combination, which is more common than you might think, especially back then. (There's a reason the drug companies lost a class action lawsuit over it) Given the side-affects of those medications it's easy to lose track of what you've taken. When my mom needed them, my dad had to control her prescriptions. When I had to take them I learned to write it all down.
