On July 24, 2023, police responded to a complaint in Wausau, WI regarding a 25-year-old man from Texas who was causing disturbances in the area. Upon arrival, the man couldn't be found. An hour later, a stolen vehicle was reported. The witness described seeing a man matching the Texas man's description walking through the parking lot and seeing his truck being driven. Initially thought to be a joke, it quickly became apparent that it was a serious matter. The suspect, who was on probation, was later located via his ankle monitor. As for the stolen truck, it seemed to have undergone extensive alterations.

Wisconsin doesn’t have bail bondsman. So $10,000 is actually quite a high bail for someone in that state. That being said, with this guy I would like to see it be even more considering the danger he seems to pose to the community imo.

So, looking at the jail logs, he's still in jail. My guess is his bond was revoked after he broke probation

They told them that they would charge them with insurance fraud if they insisted. The kid was in college, and someone knew where he kept the keys. There weren't any other thefts in our area. It is a safe, expensive area, so the insurance concluded that it was an inside job.

Their job is to catch the guy that did it, it's his fault for not pulling over the way he should have, and they will just say "you should have had insurance". Which you should since most car thieves will just trash it anyway, probably burn it when they are done. So don't leave your keys in the truck if you don't want this to happen.

I see those comments a lot "Great now the car is wrecked" Okay but I promise as a cop I'm more concerned getting the guy comitting an active felony crime, tweaking on meth, and putting people's lives in danger than your stolen vehicle. That's what insurance is for. That's what removeable keys and door locks are for. I always tell people "We're gonna look for your stolen vehicle, if we find it and it runs, it's possible it may get damaged, because we will chase it, so hopefully you have insurance" I also state that obviously we hope we get it back undamaged but it's already stolen.. If he never got it back he'd still have to make an insurance claim. The situation doesn't worsen by his truck getting totalled in a pursuit, it just doesn't, unfortunately, get any better either.
